How I grade my bmpcc og footages (Arri look) - DaVinci Resolve tutorial

In this video I am happy to show you in a few minutes my grading process on shots filmed with the original blackmagic pocket cinema camera.
Disclaimer: I am not a grading professional, I may have said some inaccuracies, if so I would be grateful if you would share your knowledge for the benefit of everyone!

ive been playing with CST nodes a lot. especially with the "film look" lots in resolve. I ALWAYS avoided them because I didnt understand the need for CST, and I didnt know the LUTS in the "film look" were specifically for "Cineon" gamma. now I use those film print emulations all the time and they look amazing. throw some super light grain and halation and it looks beautiful.

Merci pour ce super tuto! Sur la version 18, Arri Alexa et Arri Log C ont disparus des listes de conversion. A la place, on trouve Arri Wide Gamut 3 ou 4, et Arri LogC3 ou C4. Que préconisez-vous? Par ailleurs les scopes parade et oscilloscope sont absents de la version gratuite? Merci pour votre aide... et au plaisir de voir d'autres réalisations!

Where do you get or download the Output Color Space and Output Gamma with ARRI ALEXA and ARRI LOG C...it is not appearing in Davinci Resolve. Thanks

What accessories are you using? Your rig looks really compact.
If i shot in S-Log 2 I cannot use the output to be ARRI’s Log-C ??
What If I use a second Color Space Transfer to convert into rec 709 instead the Lut?
Would it be possible and recommended to record the footage with the Arri lut while shooting (bmpcc 4k) and then only small twicks in post?
most people dont burn LUTS onto the film, you cant get out of it in post. maybe you can view through them but theres no point since its a flat log anyway.
what is the name of the program?
is there a simple way to change the color of just the greens? for example i want the forest trees to look darker green then lighter yellowy....anything not involve nodes ..ugh
I love it! Am considering to buy either the OG or the 4K pocket.... Is interesting to see how much one can do with these cameras. However, a question of audio comes to mind.. I see the woman is speaking on the video, and you use the OG? as far as I understood, the sound is very bad in the OG for encoring directly into it.. How did you record the sound? I am a one man band so I cannot get a sound guy walking around to assist me right now.... How best shall one record the sound to the OG if there is like an interview as in your video here?
If I understand it correctly the 4K got XLR and so one could just add a shotgun mic or a shure wireless go ll t the 4k pocket right?
but what to do to get audio for the OG in a great way as a one man band?

Thank you for your comment :) actually she was talking but I didn't need the sound. I never use the OG for it's sound, except with a videomic on top :) For an interview, i'd use a lav mic on an external recorder such as a Zoom h5

Are you powering you bmpcc with the monitor? What's your battery solution for it?
No I'm powering it with basic Bmpcc OG batteries but I always carry 3 or 4 of them with me :)
The Arri Alexa colorspace is missing in my settings, any idea?
Can i also use this color grading steps with the P4K?
sure ! but the result won't be exactly the same because the pocket 4k and the bmpcc og don't have the same sensor
will this have an effect on bmpcc 4k with gen 5 ?

why does my RAW look color graded when I import it to Davinci and my ProResLT comes looking ungraded?

This was a really cool tutorial, very easy to follow and gave great results! I am brand new to the BMPCC and color grading but have used Resolve before. Can you help explain what the purpose of applying the Color Space Transform and the LUT is? Like what is it actually doing and why?

To be brief, the color space transform is there to transform the color space from one camera to another, in this case transforming the blackmagic film into an Arri log, and the LUT is just a file that contains a set of "presets". here it is therefore essential to convert the blackmagic film into Arri log, since the LUT that is applied is originally intended for Arri log files. I hope it's clear ? :)
yoo, what are your color settings and RAW settings in resolve?
Actually in the RAW settings I only change the WB, and sometime I use the "highlight recovery" tool and that's all :) And what do you mean by "color settings" ? Don't you see it in the video ?
@@letutoreal648 no :) the actual color space settings of resolve. I think standard is " davinci yrgb" and rec709 scene. But you can obviously change that to color managed etc. I never know what im working in haha
@@deyomash Good question ! In that case it was particular because I was editing on a mac book pro M1, so the color space was rec 709-A, then rendered in rec 709 :)

Salut :) merci ! En important la LUT en question dans Première. Après je ne sais pas si on peut transformer un espace colorimétrique dans Première donc je ne garantis rien. Fais le plutôt sur Da Vinci, c'est plus simple, et c'est gratuit
For what reason are you transforming the BMFilm to ARRI and not using the BMFilm to Rec709 LUT directly…?
