Vanessa, comedian and actor Bob 'Bobcat' Goldthwait (the guy with the crazy and spastic voice) is now an accomplished indie film writer, producer, and director. Bobcat also starred with Bill Murray in the Christmas comedy film "Scrooged." And, yes, his natural voice is nothing like that. It was developed as part of his stand up comedy routine at night clubs. Just like the late Gilbert Gottfried (Iago the parrot from "Aladdin") and his ridiculous comedic stage voice he always used when interviewed in public. A kind of permanent public performance art was really big for a time in Hollywood for comedic actors. They went around in character and only dropped the act in private. The late Andy Kaufman, Phyllis Diller, Rodney Dangerfield, and Barry Humphries (Dame Edna) were also famous for staying in character while in the public eye.
Grew up watching Police Academy franchise. I like Jones too, Michael Winslow is for a good reason called A Man Of 10,000 noises. AND I like Bobcat Goldthwait (Zed, the guy with the scratchy high voice which btw is not his real voice). He's actually best friends with the late Robin Williams, there's interviews on TH-cam of him talking dearly of him. He even directed Robin in his movie The World's Greatest Dad. He did a few skits on Saturday Night Live, and still doing stand up comedy around The States. He's also a great dad to his one daughter, he made a funny speech on her graduation day, very sweet. It used to be on TH-cam, maybe still is.
Mahoney was meant to be in 5 6 and 7, it was either in the 6th or 7th movie when he was supposed to get a promotion but due to scheduling conflicts with other movies he couldnt return for the last 3
Harris was in the 1st movie & he returned for this movie, 5, 6 & 7. I don't know why Mauser didn't come back, but the actor got his neck broken after falling from a ladder in 1989. After rehabilitation he could move his arms & walk for a short time, but he mostly used a wheelchair. That's David Spade, yes, one of Adam Sandler's friends from not only in movies, but from SNL too. Yep, Sharon Stone, at that time not well known yet.
@@jarkkoperttila3957 That's not why Mauser didn't come back lol They could easily have brought him back like they did Harris. As mentioned, the actor was injured at some point and was very limited physically and basically quit acting. I don't know if he quit acting forever, or until he recovered more (if he did, I don't know) but he never came back to the series after the 3rd movie. I don't even think he was mentioned, not that you'd expect continuity in a comedy franchise lol
In case you didn't know, the actors who played Zed, and Sweetchuck are best friends in real life. Also, one of the skateboarders was played by Tony Hawk himself.
Growing up watching these brings me joy that younger people are enjoying the absurdity of these movies. And yes this was the last "good" one. Assignment Miami Beach (Police Academy 5) was great but was overcompensating for the loss of Steve Guttenberg from the cast. That and the skateboarders doing the real skating were professional skateboarders during that time. I love Love LOVE watching your reactions to the movies I watched as a teenager. Lol
Hi, i'm so glad you continued to watch these movies. It had been so long since the last time. I really enjoy your reactions. Please keep it up! Greetings from Finland🇫🇮
I prefer Harris to Mauser, so I really like 4. Sports montages were a thing in the 80's, and the skating sequence has a young Tony Hawk (who is also in Thrashin, with Josh Brolin) PA6 is also funny, but you can skip 5 and 7 😅
Hi Vanessa!😊 You aren't wrong, the 80s were a great decade to live in! OMG! The blond skateboard guy in the pink shirt was a young David Spade from SNL. I believe that gay bar was the "Blue Oyster". Great reactions to Police Academy 4, Vanessa!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏 The jokes did start to get tired in this one.
I’m crying. It was funny enough that your Guy jumped on dude after knocking him out, but the fact that they went there to flat on a TV show was priceless.
You would have been an amazing character in the Police Academy films Vanessa ! The crazy girl that shouts at them in foreign language when they do stuff wrong. "Ostia La Puta !!!!! " I have no idea what you are saying or how to spell it lol.
David Spade the blonde you recongised from his connection with Adam Sandler for the skate scenes Tony Hawk was actually his stunt double like when he was still basically a street skater nobody however due to delays with filming Tony grew during filming making him a bad match for the double so most of his scenes were cut out and a second stunt double was brought in a couple still remain and tony has commented on them in interviews
Being "woke" doesn't mean you get offended by everything under the sun just so you know. If you get offended by these sorts of things, it's not because you are woke, it's because you are sensitive, probably overly sensitive and get offended easily. I'm "woke" I suppose, if you go by the "right wing" definition (lol) of what they think woke is, but I'm also almost 50 and grew up with George Carlin and Eddie Murphy and all those other "offensive" comics. None of that style of comedy ever bothered me then, doesn't bother me now. I can still support certain movements without being offended by the smallest, stupidest thing. Also, I'll make a quick comment on this. There is a difference between making a joke about a topic that might go over the top etc. but isn't made to be mean or anything like that. Then there are jokes that are made to be mean and specifically callous. There is a difference. One can argue that they are one in the same, but they really aren't.
Yes yes yes finally ohhhb man thank you Vanessa thank you so much we been waiting so long for this.........Pleasr Warner Bros we're begging you on bended knees please dont block this video we love Vanessa's videos
5 isn't half bad, anything beyond that however should only be watched to mock how badly they veered off course. 5 benefits from a change in scenery, which opened up a lot of new jokes to be had. Definitely give it a shot.
This is one of my all time favorites from childhood. Especially Mrs Feldman. I don’t think I’ve watched it since the 80s but I get a kick out of your reactions to these silly movies 😄
Community showers isn't necessarily an EVERYWHERE thing in America, but in places like gyms, first responder stations, secondary schools, pools, or anywhere that people need to change, you'll usually find them. Now Japan... that's another story :D ... And I'm with you on portapotties. I avoid them like the plague. The waste JUST SITS THERE until they pick it up to empty it. Police Academy 5 is ok, and I think worth the watch. The Mahoney replacement does good enough, but the bad guys are pretty funny. Finally, if you like these silly 80s comedies, I recommend one that's hard to find called MOVING VIOLATIONS, about a bunch of folx that have to go back to driving school. VERY FUNNY, and the skateboarder friend of David Spade in this movie has a part in it, though Bill Murray's little brother is the star, and he's as funny as his brother in that movie.
lol... are you saying Wham and Tony Hawk look like they are the same 🤣 ofcourse a motage is needed with the Hawk, anything else would be a waste of money and time 😃
This is my favorite one of the franchise and the last good one, imo. It was the last one with Mahoney and it was the right amount of over the top humor. The guy playing Zed, Bib Goldthwait was in a really funny overlooked movie call “Hot to Trot” the year after this movie. I highly recommend it. Great reaction Vanessa.
The idea of commiunical baths goes all the way back to the anicent Greeks that is where it all started mainly ever idea that you assume is American we got from the Anicent Greeks.
As an American, my theory is that it’s all about saving money. It’s cheaper not to install privacy barriers. It has been getting a little better. Especially since the 80s. Gyms usually have shower curtains and Buckees (a south western gas station) has the BEST bathrooms because all stalls are private with doors.
Hola , How it's going , doing the c.o.p 🚓 Rap Vanessa 🎬 😅 Look who's still got a crush on Mahoney I'm happy your back for more with characters I have a lot of fondness for growing up , sure it's ridiculous & juvenile the jokes are hit & miss , like you said not as top notch as the three before but still somewhat amusing & wacky as ever. Yeah that was a young David Spade (check out the fly on the wall podcast) they used famous skateboarder Tony Hawk as a stunt double but was to tall & got fired , some cool slide flips , kinda flimsy plot when has it been criminal for kids to just fool around like that. When it comes to show stealing scenes who would have throught of a kick ass granny shooting a 44 magnum , unlikely she'll get casted today , Tackleberry always cracks me up with his dumb founded expressions & over reacting to situations , there both surely missed RIP 🙏 Caption Harris does grow on you even know you miss Mauser , he was really drunk through most of it & doesn't remember filming much of it , not that you would notice it adds to the character , he would get fired now. It's a running joke with the shower, never gets old , the whole showering together I'm guessing is just harmless bonding around sports & pressed for time. The yama yama scene was hilarious , wasn't that one of the fat boys who layed down the track including the animated series , they also did 'are you ready' for Freddy Krueger but they went with the hockey mask from Jason , whipping up recruits like that , they would ran away. Michael Winslow doing those amazing voice effects has to be my favourite character (motel trouble stand up), we all tried copying him back in the day, is beat boxing much of a thing anymore , fighting ninjas is always awesome , so popular in the 80's . the unlikely romance between bobcat & Corine was like a spin off , ha trying to fit in being respectful , it makes sense they went with the blow monkeys song , even know bobcat kinda annoying ,it would be funny if you did a scene like that. I did recognize the cowboy ringleader in jail Randell 'tex' Cobb because he was in one of my favourite comedy's Raising Arizona & was a heavyweight contender. When it came to the action packed finale , your right that's probably where they blow the budget but it needed it , shout out to the stuntmen , would you have the Valor to fly high like that Vane , perfect send off. 🛩️ 👋 This is as good as it's gonna get , Mahoney not even in the 5th Miami beach, they cast someone else , if your in to water sport stunts your like it , otherwise I'll suggest stay clear & just watch it on your own time. I do recall there was also a 90's TV show , I haven't watched it , the first episode on TH-cam , there was talk of a next gen movie , I'll be surprised if it gets made , you can't really be funny & woke , people need to lighten up & stop being so offered , let's just celebrate the freedom of comedy magic for what it was , it's not coming back any time soon. This might be an unpopular opinion, but to me Police Academy 5 is my favorite *sequel* in the franchise. Of course the first one will always be the best. I like it, because it is literally a change in scenery, sending the troops to Miami Beach. It literally feels like taking a vacation at an exotic location with sand, sunshine and piña coladas.
I remember this was the first PA movie, I didn't like as a child. Because I was such a fan of Zed and I didn't want him to have a girlfriend... 😅🤭 Does that make sense? Is there such a thing as non gay little boy jealousy for movie characters?.... 🤔
You were thinking of the group Wham. Yes colorful clothes were all the rave in the late 80's. Yes to live during the 80's was awesome. The opening song was written and sung by Michael Winslow motor mouth Jones. Harris is back for the rest of the movies no Mauser. The skateboarders were led by a young and up and coming Tony Hawk
Vane, I was afraid you were going to twist yourself into a pretzel trying to find good things to say about this film! 🥨 Plenty of more good comedies out there for you to react to! Don't be afraid to dust off the black and white classics, you'll love them!!!

I know this word "cabrone"! I have heard Mexican-Americans say it here in the San Francisco Bay Area. 🙂 lmao 🤣 love it 😂🤣
Steve Guttenberg who portrayed Mahoney was also in Short Circuit, Cocoon, High Spirits, The Big Green and Three Men and a Baby.

David spade was one of the skateboarders he was Adam Sandler friend
The professional skateboarder who was skating for David Spade was Tony Hawk.
Mahoney was meant to be in 5 6 and 7, it was either in the 6th or 7th movie when he was supposed to get a promotion but due to scheduling conflicts with other movies he couldnt return for the last 3
"Nobody screws with me!"
(Jones makes a farting sound for him at court) I laughed so hard at that part. Harris is just so fun to screw with.
One of the skateboarders was young Tony Hawk. Yes the Tony Hawk, skateboarding legend.
well the whistle the old lady did was when she put her fingers INTO her mouth, not beside of it.
You can catch Leslie Easterbrook's "charms" in Private Resort - Johnny Depp's first leading role film. Worth a watch as a lighthearted comedy.
Hope you'll continue the series unlike everyone else who only watches the first movie
Great reaction! This is my favourite, i love it even more than the original, but i also love Police Academy 6 a lot.
24:57 Wilhelm Scream. A movie foley staple since 1951.

Couse in the third movie they had a competition which police academy will stay. City only have money for one and Lassard´s academy won.

Tony Hawk was one of the 🛹's in this movie as a teenager.
I recommend SHORT CIRCUIT with Steve Guttenberg and G.W. Bailey playing pretty similar characters to Mahoney and Harris.
This movie had the best song, surprised you didn't let it play longer. it's so catchy.

VERY FUNNY, and the skateboarder friend of David Spade in this movie has a part in it, though Bill Murray's little brother is the star, and he's as funny as his brother in that movie.

ofcourse a motage is needed with the Hawk, anything else would be a waste of money and time 😃

The guy playing Zed, Bib Goldthwait was in a really funny overlooked movie call “Hot to Trot” the year after this movie. I highly recommend it. Great reaction Vanessa.
Hot to Trot is a very funny movie, although you might have a hard time finding it in your country. It's hard enough to find in the US.
One of the best wet t-shirt scenes in movie history.
The idea of commiunical baths goes all the way back to the anicent Greeks that is where it all started mainly ever idea that you assume is American we got from the Anicent Greeks.

The last good Police Acedemy movie. Saw this one a ton back when I was kid.
Was that young man she mentioned David Spade?
Finally, another part of the Police Academy :) I hope that the next parts will be faster. And of course, great reaction
The scream you're referring to is called the Wilhelm scream
fun fact, the stun man from the skater of David Spade was Tony Hawk! ;)
Political correctness today is terms like birthing person and bonus hole owner.
For me, 1-4 are best, 2-3 are my fave. Yuma Yuma Yuma Yuma Yuma, might be the best scene in all of them.
Pretty much police academy ends for me at 5.
If you laughed at this one then the others are worth watching for the laughs and conclusion.
6 is probably my favorite simply because of Jones' Hendrix impression and the monster truck chase
Please warner bros don't block this video 🙏🥺

@@MLJ7956 neat
@@MLJ7956 i thought it was Wham 🤣
I hope for another will be soon 🙂
This might be an unpopular opinion, but to me Police Academy 5 is my favorite *sequel* in the franchise. Of course the first one will always be the best. I like it, because it is literally a change in scenery, sending the troops to Miami Beach. It literally feels like taking a vacation at an exotic location with sand, sunshine and piña coladas.
PLEASE watch the 5th film. That is good too and the 6th one. I would avoid the 7th,
I like the Jason in it the biplanse your always great reactions
Hello. Nice to see you
I remember this was the first PA movie, I didn't like as a child. Because I was such a fan of Zed and I didn't want him to have a girlfriend... 😅🤭
Does that make sense?
Is there such a thing as non gay little boy jealousy for movie characters?.... 🤔
next movie should be short circut
Do a reaction video to Shakes the Clown. Its great.
next two are my favorites this is my least favorite if you don't count 7
You should do reactions pf police academy 5 assignment Miami beach and police academy 6 city under siege and police academy 7 assignments to moscow
Finally 😍
Just tmnt forever, adult version.
No, 90s weren't the good times to live. Now it's the best times except some sort of things.
Dont listen to them 5 is rather crappy but in my opinion 6 is still worth seeing.
💋
5 & 6 are awesome. 7 sucks
No kid bs
Yeah 4 was bad. Last good one is Miame Beach movie Police Academy 5.
1, 2 and 5 were the best ones. Others are crap.
I forgot how terrible the movie was
I'm totally changing the subject here, but have you seen "Speed" yet?
Yes!
Really,?
wokeness did not exist in the 80s
You have no idea what "wokeness" even actually means.
Vane, I was afraid you were going to twist yourself into a pretzel trying to find good things to say about this film! 🥨 Plenty of more good comedies out there for you to react to! Don't be afraid to dust off the black and white classics, you'll love them!!!
