The idea of buying one of these boxes is tempting, but my house is already full of junk and I just know I wouldn't be able to bring myself to bin any of it, so I'd just end up with more junk to store forever.
My Grandfather survived the Depression and two World Wars. He refused to throw anything away. After his death, it took several years of steady work to empty the house so that it could be sold. We started by donating things to charity and ended with a commercial dumpster parked in front of the house...
I'd say 90+% of Amazon returns are not broken. If you're a Prime subscriber it's a no-brainer to buy stuff to try and if you don't like it it's very easy to return. As soon as you've lodged it with the return carrier they give your refund. This box of stuff is practically 99% useless to anyone, I guess sometimes one could score something useful from one of these boxes but you'd have to buy half a dozen boxes of rubbish first.
The good stuff that's returned either gets sent out again-if Amazon thinks they can pass it off as new-or else goes on Amazon Warehouse. The stuff which gets disposed of in these type of bundles is the cheap unbranded junk that isn't even worth Amazon's time to re-list on Warehouse.
@@BuyitFixit fantastic for plastic repairs as the steel gives real strength. The steel gauze to reinforce when melted into the plastic can be great for some jobs too. I've even repaired a badly split car bumper with them and they held, to give you an idea of the strength. And the whole set is only about £15 bud. 👍🏼
Yeah. I know it's not really the point. But I'd have been pretty pissed off if I'd spent £50 for that load of junk. Did you notice how every item was a never-heard-of [presumably] Chinese brand. Obviously these things are so cheap and disposable they're not even worth re-listing on Amazon Warehouse, which is where returns usually end up, if they're worth re-selling. Even the batteries [which were about the only useful thing in the box] were Amazon Basics brand, apart from that one packet of Duracell. I still love the channel, BTW. I just think these supposedly random returns bundles, which crop up a lot on TH-cam repair-o-thons are a rip-off. Obviously the seller will have cherry-picked any good stuff first and sold on the remaining dross to someone hoping to find treasure. T'aint't gonna happen!
23:00 I have found that most of the time when a disc catches, it is the fault of the pickup assembly being misaligned due to one of the rubber dampeners not being installed correctly, I think that the disc is supposed to be closer to the control panel in this case. But having the foresight to have a rotary tool and grinding bit ready was brilliant, made the fix much easier, kudos.
If testing lots of cells like that in one go I find it easiest to just line them all up parallel to each other and run the test leads down the sides, saves a lot of fiddling around and time bud. 👍🏼
The reverse camera is meant to be horizontally flipped so that the output is a mirror image. This is necessary because the camera and the driver face opposite directions, and without it, the camera's right would be on the driver's left and vice versa. The coloured lines are there so you can measure and judge distance to the curb or other vehicles etc.
A similar reverse camera for my last car looked like that. It had a small loop of wire you cut to flip the video. It all depended on where you mounted it. I had 4... reverse, off both mirrors for lane changes and 1 that came on when I was under 3?mph off the front bumper for watching the curb.
I'm a new sub and I have to say your content is fantastic, you don't turn a repair into miniseries. You take the thing apart, diagnose the problem, get the parts you need, fix the issue and that's that. I know it probably takes a lot of time from start to finish especially when you have to wait for parts, but it's great to see the issue resolved in one video, rather than several over a number of weeks. What you can do to the plastic to reinforce it, without adding too much bulk, is take some thin gauze roll, or those thin gauze pads/squares, and use them and superglue like laying up sheets of fibreglass and resin to cover the break. The non-woven gauze gives it structural strength while giving the super glue polymer a excellent structure to bond to.
Thanks General Disarray 👍yes it takes a fair amount of time to do a video as you said, but then there's also the editing and watching it back to make sure there's no spelling mistakes or other glitches, but my channel is slowly growing so I guess I must be doing something right 🙂

that lightning av adapter is worth more than half the whole box price. fun video man! with my luck if i bought one of them boxes id get 50 pairs of wired earbuds like they give out free on flights!
@@hanric2000 How do you know it's not a genuine Apple lightning AV adapter? The lightning AV adapter is a very complex dongle, containing a tiny ARM Cortex CPU with 2 Gb of RAM, all responsible for converting a serial H.264 video stream to HDMI on the fly. I've never seen a functional third party knockoff of this dongle and I have purchased one from Amazon myself. They are an Apple authorized dealer and sell the genuine item. As far as Amazon not losing money on returns, that is absolutely false. Amazon (and third party sellers) loose billions on returns and sells off pallets of misc returned items on an auction basis. They also throw away a large quantity of returned items by shipping them directly to landfill. You can easily confirm all of the above information with a few minutes of internet/google research. In the future perhaps you will consider doing some research before posting factually inaccurate or unsubstantiated comments.

Thanks for commenting, a few people have mentioned so it's the same as looking in a mirror, otherwise it would be very confusing when reversing 😂😂.Thanks for commenting 👍
I recently bought my second box (same seller) I also got a pair of those phillips big bold bass headphones and I got four pairs of wireless earbuds (all working) I got a wireless charging station as well, and phone cases, and a load of D cell batteries. I also got a smartphone with a damaged screen but it works. I got a faulty blutooth speaker, all it does is tuirn itself on and off all the time, even if you tunr it off by it's power button it still does it, it did it all night. I was just hearing it's power chimes, I ended up opening it up just to disconnect the battery. I also got some wireless philliups headphones which charged and powered on, but my phones wont detect them.
I had thought about that, a few people have asked about the grinder. The one I got is a MaAnt D1 but there are very similar ones available now too with a lot more replacement tips. Search usb engraving pen on ebay or such 👍

Very interesting video, cool items and nice fixes :) The portable cd player seems to be a manufacturing problem, or even a design flaw. I wonder if all those cd players are not working, or is there some unique manufacturing problem in this particular unit, perhaps some unfinished mold seams that contacted the disc, preventing it from spinning? I remember in 2001 when I was installing internet connection to my PC from cd-rom disc, and the disc drive didn't want to spin it. Turned out there was a problem with the disc itself. The center hole wasn't perfectly round, so I sanded it a bit, and then it started working properly. That same PC 3,5" disk drive had another problem, the ribbon data cable connector wasn't properly installed, it was just partially in, putted there by brute force instead of skill, and one pin was bent & not connected. I found it out, as the disk drive wasn't fully working, was not able to make Windows backup disk, but for some reason the drive seemed to work otherwise fine. After I found the problem and fixed it, then I was able to make the Windows 98SE backup / startup disk just fine. Weird stuff :D
Wow you sound like Jimoen at times. 😁 And I think the batteries are just cheapy ones they put in to bring the total item count up to 50. Vince gets them in his lots too. 👍
Thanks for the video!! I bought some Panasonic batteries off eBay for a bargain price, but they went flat very quickly. Do you think there are counterfeit batteries on the market?
That reversing cam, they often ship mirrored like that and with those irritating lines in the image, if you open it up and research the board inside, there are usually option pads to remove the lines as well as mirroring and image flip. The mirror image is actually desirable for a reversing cam but the lines have to go!
@@BuyitFixit on my cam i flipped the image for the orientation i was fitting the it and turned off the lines, my headunit has its own lines with customization options but even then, i only have a single horizontal line to mark 2 inches from my bumper for super close reversing which has people sat in their cars nervous and sometimes get beeped ha ha!
Now you just need enough views to make the money back for all the useless tat! Love the repairs and your presentation style... you'll get there in the end.
Looks like the power plug dented the case top of the dvd player, which broke that carriage part. (You might realise as I’m writing as you inspect/fix it)
I wonder if the revering camera is meant to be that way (image reversed) to help the driver subconciously steer in the right direction? Think about it - if I look at the can of air duster on my workbench shelf its on my right. If I turn my back to the workbench, the air duster is now on my left.
Working on that DVD player whilst it was plugged in had my on edge. I was waiting for your hand to brush the wrong part of the power supply and you to yelp.
The batteries facing the same way thing is weird but becoming more common (I think one of my Google TV remotes does that)... I guess having them pointing in opposite directions is "too hard" for people today?
Yes, I've seen a couple of devices that have batteries pointing the same way but not very often. (unfortunately the remote was a bit off screen when I was looking at it) but one of the batteries had the positive side going to the spring and the flat side going to where the flat recessed contact was. The batteries were a brand called "Gritty" ? which I've never heard of. I mean who wants gritty batteries 😂😂😂😂
46:00 the hole in the reverse camera is for a magnetic slug, you insert the magnet to set the camera into normal Picture mode, without the magnet the Picture is reversed ( as seen on your monitor ) , other models you could switch the picture to normal or revered on the monitor it self.
I saw vinces video about a week ago and I’ve been buying more bigger Joblots and they’re all kind of a mystery because whenever I buy them I forget what was in them haha

The whole £50 50 items thing has to be topped off with a projected profit. I think you need to do a follow up and count your winnings even if you dont sell the stuff Great channel keep it up Sean
Very enjoyable video, and looks like you got some new headphones instead of the old ones you fixed 😁but yes it's quite a bargain all that for only 50£ and you'll never need to buy wireless headphones ever again you now have a box full of them
*** - that DVD player plastic piece... u shoulda put in ur small vise to hold it.. (1st super glue it) then cut a few straight pieces of a paperclip.. use soldering iron to push into plastic as reinforcement.. super glue alone isn't gonna hold it... not for any length of time..
how about a bit of cyanoacryilate glue followed by nylon zip ties in your hot glue gun, and weld it all back together. I am at 37:30. LOL neat box Mick. Thanks for posting
I believe a lot of Amazon stuff is returned after people try once. Another thing I have seen is people order a newer item and return the previous one in the new packaging. Sad to see but Amazon is so big they let a lot of this slide (probably insured as a loss or past on to supplier).
9:30 I ordered a box of AAA and AA batteries. Only 6 took a charge to the full 2000mahr capacity. At least that's what my charger said. The others were less than 460 mahr. Most of what you got in the box was low cost items that were too expensive to send back to the seller. Amazon didn't lose any money. Prime membership$ paid for the returned items.
I think a lot of the items returned as broken are done so people can avoid paying shipping or expired return windows, at least here in the US. I know countries with better consumer protection laws may not have to deal with those things as much.
@@BuyitFixit NP, I really enjoyed the video. I usually keep youtube playing in the background because the sound helps distract my brain just enough I can focus on something else and you have a calm voice and the content was interesting enough that I went back to rewatch your repairs after I finished what I was working on.
I can well believe it. I've just had similar with a faulty graphics card I won on eBay. They provided a tracking number which always said we're waiting for the seller to drop it off, two weeks later I had to ask eBay for a refund.
I cannot imagine ever hitting such a low point in my life where I would even think about, let alone actually buy, a 4 pack of AA batteries from amazon.😂
😂😂I'm not sure if you mean the quality of them? Or just ordering batteries in general. I've just ordered 12 Energizer PP3 batteries from Amazon. The problem for me is that we live in a quite remote area everything is about a 20 mile drive from where I live.
@@BuyitFixit Oh I have no issue with buying batteries from amazon in general but a single 4 pack of AA duracell with only 2 removed just seemed really "off". I always thought those 4 packs were an impulse buy at the local drug store.
Interesting gamble. Would expect to make more than £50 at a Car boot with that lot? Not quite so much of a gamble with how good you are at fixing stuff though. Watch out, you will have to build another barn to keep everything in 🙂 Interesting how many folks seem to want ear buds or headsets though.
@@BuyitFixit When I was a Paramedic my general advice was "never put anything smaller than you elbow in your ear" or up your nose for that matter. Now folks are chucking bits of plastic and foam in ears all the time. I always tend to use over ear type earphones. Yes, I watch Vince's stuff too. We've chatted a few times on email as well. He's my inspiration for starting doing repair videos. It all started after I saw him repairing a Milwaukee radio, and I had a few Milwaukee tools and thought hmmm I could get myself a broken one and fix it, and save a bit money! Then I thought oh perhaps I could do a video on it too! Then I went on a broken Milwaukee buying spree 😂😂😂
They likely put the batteries in wrong from the start. Then, when the player didn't react to the remote, they pounded on the top of the player (with a hammer from the looks of it) and broke it.
The outdoor camera was a bargain, as for the rest possibly not unless you find a few customer/buyers with a fetish for other peoples ear wax. Too many ear buds... Like I said the camera was a good deal, they retail at about £50 as it is, although you really need the additional solar panel to keep it charged up when fixed outdoors.
I thought the same, someone mentioned that it's sometimes Amazon's fault, such as if the customer ordered AAA and received AA instead,.or they sent C size instead of D.
I bought it from eBay, the seller was called wigan-electronics. He hasn't had any for sale for a while. but you can search job lot or customer returns on eBay :)
I've just tried the original link and it doesn't exist anymore, it was from a user on eBay called "wiganelectronics" but I don't think he has any boxes currently listed. Hope that helps.
@BuyitFixit probably so. I did not see if there was a mains capacitor eg class c. Was not watching full screen and on a 24" monitor. Love your content.
These super cheap chargers are a major risk to your phone. I would never risk an expensive phone to die just because I can save a bit on the charger!!!

LOL 😂😂😂😂
Now you just need enough views to make the money back for all the useless tat! Love the repairs and your presentation style... you'll get there in the end.
Yes😂😂Thanks 👍
Looks like the power plug dented the case top of the dvd player, which broke that carriage part. (You might realise as I’m writing as you inspect/fix it)
Cheers Rooo 👍
I wonder if the revering camera is meant to be that way (image reversed) to help the driver subconciously steer in the right direction? Think about it - if I look at the can of air duster on my workbench shelf its on my right. If I turn my back to the workbench, the air duster is now on my left.
Yes, thinking about it, that does make sense!
A fun mixture of treasure hunt and clever fixes. 😀
Thanks 👍🙂
how do you find the amazon buy back returns? ive looked and seem not to fine them
The guy who was selling them hasn't had any listed for while. Searching returns joblot or such might bring up similar on Ebay.
Working on that DVD player whilst it was plugged in had my on edge. I was waiting for your hand to brush the wrong part of the power supply and you to yelp.
😂😂If that had you on edge then my latest video repair a caravan charger power supply.... 😂
People who don't want their batteries to leak inside the remote or wherever, often reverse one of the cells if they're not actively using them....
Always thought they fitted them that way for transit...... simply reverse the offending cell to power up device (saves packaging)
46:00 the hole in the reverse camera is for a magnetic slug, you insert the magnet to set the camera into normal Picture mode, without the magnet the Picture is reversed ( as seen on your monitor ) , other models you could switch the picture to normal or revered on the monitor it self.
Oh nice, thanks for that👍. I guess it must have a hall effect sensor or reed switch inside to detect the magnet then.
The last two items should have been
A whopping cushion and a bong 🤠

I haven’t got to the end of that video yet.
I tempted to buy half a box of headphones myself.
Great work!
Interesting buy, Paul, USA!
Cheers Paul 👍
I saw vinces video about a week ago and I’ve been buying more bigger Joblots and they’re all kind of a mystery because whenever I buy them I forget what was in them haha
😂😂😂😂I keep buying things from eBay, but then forget what items I've bought and keep stumbling them and it's like "oh I totally forgot I bought that"😂😂😂
The whole £50 50 items thing has to be topped off with a projected profit. I think you need to do a follow up and count your winnings even if you dont sell the stuff Great channel keep it up Sean
Cheers Sean 👍
After it was shown Amazon were sending so much waste to landfill, this is encouraging. Found your channel via YT suggestion: Subbed!
Thanks Electrobilla 👍
Very enjoyable video, and looks like you got some new headphones instead of the old ones you fixed 😁but yes it's quite a bargain all that for only 50£ and you'll never need to buy wireless headphones ever again you now have a box full of them
Thanks Morten, hope the video was worth the extra wait 👍
@@BuyitFixit it definitely was 😊
*** - that DVD player plastic piece... u shoulda put in ur small vise to hold it.. (1st super glue it) then cut a few straight pieces of a paperclip.. use soldering iron to push into plastic as reinforcement.. super glue alone isn't gonna hold it... not for any length of time..
Thanks Terry. Good idea. A few people also suggested super glue and either tissue or baking soda I think it was, although I've not tried that either.
Do you have a timeshare with Vince on the blue mat and Milwaukee torch?
You would think lol. I've chatted with Vince a fair bit. He's a good guy 👍
At 27:00 you're using a smaller cordless Dremel type tool. What is the arbor size of your grinder and where did you get it? (Link please)
Hi, check out my latest few videos. I've started putting links to all.of the tools in the video description 👍
how about a bit of cyanoacryilate glue followed by nylon zip ties in your hot glue gun, and weld it all back together.
Yes, I bet they just pass the loss on to the supplier 😂😂
Nice video! I really enjoyed watching it.
Thanks SP! Appreciate the feedback👍
That 13A plug thing with the collapsible pins looks well dodgy!
Yeah I guess they designed it for travel purposes. Only the best on Amazon 😂😂😂
I think a lot of the items returned as broken are done so people can avoid paying shipping or expired return windows, at least here in the US. I know countries with better consumer protection laws may not have to deal with those things as much.
Thanks for that Bucket O'Fail 👍
@@BuyitFixit NP, I really enjoyed the video. I usually keep youtube playing in the background because the sound helps distract my brain just enough I can focus on something else and you have a calm voice and the content was interesting enough that I went back to rewatch your repairs after I finished what I was working on.
Thanks 👍 I really appreciate your feedback 🙂
Scammers like to advertise these boxes. They get your money and never send the box.
I can well believe it. I've just had similar with a faulty graphics card I won on eBay. They provided a tracking number which always said we're waiting for the seller to drop it off, two weeks later I had to ask eBay for a refund.
Great video 📷📷
Thanks 👍
0:31 Love your socks; they're so cute! Laura says hello in EU.
😂😂😂😂😂
Is it safe to say that the returned items are more than likely: 'didn't want', 'didn't fit' etc. as opposed to anything 'broken'?@@BuyitFixit
Excellent vid. Well done
Thanks Peter Roy 👍
Interesting gamble. Would expect to make more than £50 at a Car boot with that lot? Not quite so much of a gamble with how good you are at fixing stuff though. Watch out, you will have to build another barn to keep everything in 🙂
Interesting how many folks seem to want ear buds or headsets though.
Thanks Chris 👍I've literally got ear buds coming out of my ears 😂😂😂😂😂
@@BuyitFixit AH, the trick is, remember to take the First one out before you put any mor in 🙂
Oh right, so you can only insert one into each ear... great tip. I'll remember that one 😂😂😂😂
@@BuyitFixit When I was a Paramedic my general advice was "never put anything smaller than you elbow in your ear" or up your nose for that matter. Now folks are chucking bits of plastic and foam in ears all the time. I always tend to use over ear type earphones. Must admit to in ear defenders when making loud bangs though, sometimes in and over 🙂
What grinding pen do you use?
I've put links to the tools I use in my latest videos 👍
I watch most of Vince's vids --- except the Rolls/Boat ones.
Great job.
Thanks!
They likely put the batteries in wrong from the start. Then, when the player didn't react to the remote, they pounded on the top of the player (with a hammer from the looks of it) and broke it.
Could well be the case. Yes it did look like someone had hit it with a hammer 😂😂😂😂
These make great videos. My Mate Vince would be proud to see you attempting them.
Thanks Michael 👍I'm sure Vince will see it as he's a subscriber and regularly comments. We've also had a few chats via email too 👍
you sound like your just up the road from im in Middlesbrough you must be Sunderland or Newcastle
Used to be pretty much bang in the middle lol, but I'm over in Cumbria now.
Very good😊
Thanks 👍
The outdoor camera was a bargain, as for the rest possibly not unless you find a few customer/buyers with a fetish for other peoples ear wax. Too many ear buds...
Like I said the camera was a good deal, they retail at about £50 as it is, although you really need the additional solar panel to keep it charged up when fixed outdoors.
Thanks Gary 👍
New sub here, enjoyed the video
Welcome aboard Welsh Tony! Hopefully you'll enjoy my other videos too 🙂👍
C cell batteries are quite useful, unless you actually ordered AAA batteries for your kitchen scale.
Yes, I think something like that probably happened!
@@BuyitFixit It’s happened to me twice!
Who would go through the trouble of returning batteries, especially if they are common sizes like AA?
I thought the same, someone mentioned that it's sometimes Amazon's fault, such as if the customer ordered AAA and received AA instead,.or they sent C size instead of D.
Backup cam reversed as it feeds a rear view mirror screen.
You are my guru.
Thanks 😊
Where do you get your boxes?
I bought it from eBay, the seller was called wigan-electronics. He hasn't had any for sale for a while. but you can search job lot or customer returns on eBay :)
@@BuyitFixit thx! Apart from them do you have anyone else you can recommend.. id sooner get a referral.. ;)
Sorry unfortunately not. I only bought the one box.
Lay a bit of soft toilet paper to the super glue to reinforce joint.
Thanks, good idea I'll have to remember that one 👍
Can you recommend an Amazon Warehouse seller?
Unfortunately not, the seller I bought this from hasn't had any more listed and I've not purchased any from any other sellers.
What’s the link for this box ?
I've just tried the original link and it doesn't exist anymore, it was from a user on eBay called "wiganelectronics" but I don't think he has any boxes currently listed. Hope that helps.
@@BuyitFixit thanks

Yes 😂😂😂😂👍
got your money's worth there mate. in batteries alone probably lol

I came from my mate vince
Glad to see you 👍
Super glue and baking soda
Someone else mentioned this also. Thank you for the tip 👍
No way I would touch the mains connections of a plug pack without shorting the pins first in case there is no bleed resistor.
Wouldn't the bridge rectifier before the capacitor stop any current coming back to the pins even if there is no bleed resistor.
@BuyitFixit probably so. I did not see if there was a mains capacitor eg class c. Was not watching full screen and on a 24" monitor. Love your content.
Last item was a backup camera for a vehicle…
You did not get it....... it was a REVERSE camera.😂
Yes lol 😂😂😂
You're going to be so sick of headphones by the time you've finished

these are not return boxes... these are storage lost items that are broken, bad packaging or has some items missing....

Reversing camera mimics what you see in the mirror. So yes, it's reversed.
Yes, I didn't think of that at the time 🙂👍
Didn't Amazon destroy all returned items ? o_O
It doesn't look like it 😂😂😂
