It’s actually quite sad, knowing what that place used to be like compared to what it is now. All of those bars used to be Hoppin all night long when I was there from 2003 to 2015. It’s definitely changed, but in the places where its still jumping there is the same energy that I remember. So many friends and so many memories from all around the world. Thank you for making this video.

Yes BB, even before covid, Chiang Mai is fairly low key re the bar scene But still enjoyable. But for the avid bar hopper like ourselves, after a week, we're looking for new destinations. If you haven't already, you'll be on a plane to Pattaya before you can say pour me a Leo please (-:: Enjoy
@@Brennybrez Chiang Rai also has a "little"interesting bar area but I would imagine it would be totally deadsville at the moment. Certainly not a beer bar "Bell Ringing" hotspot even at the best of times. Of course, there's much more to Thailand than bars, but it's always good to be able to go out at night after a day of exploring. So I would probably leave Chiang Rai off your list of destinations for now. I did however have a FANTASTIC time at Udon Thani for a week! But once again, not sure how it would be now in post Covid recovery mode. Enjoy.

I can certify nightlife is not loi kroe road unless you like ladyboys and grannies. 1 in 10 is a grandma 7 of 10 ladyboys and the remaining 2 housewives with children. One last month sat with me and immediately pulled up photos of her infant on a phone. Loi Kroe is a depressing place even for massage.......... Chiang Mai is for easy laid back living but not much else

American regulation pool tables are 8x4 feet. Canadian are 9x5. I think you was playing on a 9x5. The huge table makes the pockets look smaller. But they really aren’t. Based on the double bank shot she made, the cushions were good. It really was you sukin. Hahaha
North Gate Jazz Co-Op and the Ram Bar for the ladyboy show are must visits in Chiang Mai. Nearly all the bars close by 2am. Are there any places that stay open later?
Tried the North jazz spot, went on a night where the performance wasn’t the best, but I’ve heard usually it’s great! Also went to Ram bar and watched a pretty entertaining show
The retired westerners influenced that area to close down nightlife by 12am around 2016. Looks like is only slowed down more since the “plandemic”. Very sad…looks like the same happens to pai and many other places like Koh Tao.
I find it strange that westerners influenced a Thai tourism spot to close earlier for there own benefits, in Thailand, when it’s the westerners who bring in the money! 🙄 crazy

How many lady drinks did you have to buy? Whiskey and Coke means just Coke for the lady drink, but if you buy one for yourself, there will be real whiskey in it.
I wouldn't mind the entertainment bars being closed at midnight as I'd be more interested in going out to explore this region as more traditional thai culture there then say Phuket and Pattaya
It pays to do your research ahead of time. Bars/nightclubs in northern Thailand are required to shut down around midnight for the time being, as directed by the central government in Bangkok. They were petitioning to stay open later, and hopefully they will succeed. Bars and nightclubs in Bangkok were under similar restrictions for a while but they were able to get the hours extended.
