So nice to find your channel, James. Such a down-to-earth vibe. Love your journey story from electrician to filmmaker. We are a unique breed of how we got to where we are. Keep up the awesomeness and count me in as a new regular viewer 🎥
Thanks for this! I shoot a lot of stills of 'dragons and damsels' on a modest GH5 with mainly 1940's through 1960's projector glass in Zeiss, Leica, Voigtlander, Rollei and Wollensak with nothing longer than 135mm. LOVE your work!
What a great video, James. Those frame rates allow us to see so many things we’d never notice with the naked eye. And you did not pick an easy subject. Well done.
It's crazy to see a insect so close up you start to imagine what they're thinking. Fantastic camera work man, this is awe inspiring for such a small channel
The Ember is insane! id love to get my hands on one and take on the the impossible of a diving peregrine strike! watching this footage is so motivating! love you work James
Amazing!! Though my stuff is not in the same league at all, it reminded me of when I was first filming while Scuba diving - there's something really magical about being able to get this kind of footage yourself, capturing something which is quite remarkable when you have the chance to view it back over and over. So glad you did this and shared it - some absolutely beautiful shots in there and just fascinating to see!
Nice video! Pretty interesting how wobbly they are in slowmo but I guess it's not surprising since such a large part of their total mass is the wing muscles
Ive been looking at that camera and wishing I could justify the cost. One of the main reasons I shoot with a pana GH6 is it has 120p 4K and 240/300fps HD, its ok for dragonflies and birds in many cases, but its just not fast enough for small insects, so this video hasn't helped! Surprised this hasn't got more views, hopefully the algorithm will share it a bit more soon!
It's a great camera but it's hard to justify the cost. For the same price you could buy a Red Raptor and shoot 600FPS and that would be perfect for 98% of the time you need high speed.
For freezing the subject in still photography you can rely on lighting with artificial flash lighting. Flash duration may vary somewhere from 1/200 to 1/20000 of a second. You can rely on just the flash duration in place of lens shutter speed. Use flags to make the ambient light so dark that you rely on the light from the flash duration to capture the motion of the subject. The less flash power used results in reduced motion blur.

Thanks!! I'd love to see your work. Where do you share your work?
For some reason, the fact you shot these flying insects with a Freefly camera is oddly satisfying.
They were satisfying to film.
That would be the perfect camera for WW3
Great filming, James! Would love to add that camera to my inventory 😜.
Thanks!! It's an incredible peace of kit.
What a great video, James. Those frame rates allow us to see so many things we’d never notice with the naked eye. And you did not pick an easy subject. Well done.
Thanks! They are very challenging to film but I like a good challenge 😎

Thanks! It's a work in progress.
That was awesome. Thanks for going out and cooking yourself to film that
Anytime!! Glad you enjoyed it.
Woah, It was really cool to witness it. Thanks for making this man!
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it 😊

That's a dream shot! Maybe I'll try that next time I get my hands on one.
Such beautiful insects! I love how it looks like it's just floating there.
They are incredible flyers.
Absolutely amazing! It's like they have two separate sets of wings.
They do have two separate sets of wings!
Really enjoyed every second of it , i think i really liked the 4k 800 fps setup
I agree. That was my favourite shot as well.
pretty insane work, dawg. Your ability to calibrate the sensor to avoid rolling shutter is praiseworthy! You got a new soobscriba.
Thanks!! Muchly appreciated.

Thanks! That means a lot. Id love to get into Scuba someday.
Hello Which lense you use ? Thank you
Totally hypnotizing!
They certainly are!
Wow.... at 5:57 when the dragonfly started the right turn, one can see the angle adopted by the wings to execute the turn. I have subscribed.
Thanks!! They are magnificent creatures.
subscribed - exited to see your wildlife tips and tricks and fun you're having
Thanks!! Muchly appreciated and there are plenty more tips to come.
totally incredible , you mentioned at one point the beginning you had shot a Terabyte of data already .. how much did you shoot that day ..
I shot ~2TB that day 🥵
this is great, saludos desde argentina!!
Thanks!! I can't wait to go back to Argentina again someday.
@@jamesfrystak just let me know when, ill be following you on instagram 👌
So cool 🔥
Thanks! 😎
very impressive shots !!
Thanks a lot! Cheers
Amazing and impressive!
I really wish I had the opportunity to record insects with a camera like that 😢
It's an impressive camera to capture these moments.
Nice video, impressive shots. Well done :-))
Thank you so much 😀
All really interesting! I think I liked 800fps the best.
Same here! At 4k the camera punches in on the sensor and gives me a little more reach without loosing image quality.

Nice. Thank you
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
made me watch
Thanks for watching!
the 600 fps footage makes it look so cute.
They are strangely cute. Almost alien like

We need the shot of one catching a nat mid flight!
That was the shot i was going for. I did get one but it was way out at the edge of frame and shot doesn’t look very good.
awesome
Thanks!

Swimming/Treading Air
I like it!
insne video
Thanks!!
Still too expensive though..
If it was in the 10k range I would consider it but still too expensive.
