The lady was the only owner in the show that was trying her best but needed the hand of a professional to guide her. I am very glad that they are doing so much better now!
This was a really sweet episode. For the first time Gordon was dealing with two owners who hadn't run their business into the ground, life had just thrown them a curveball that was too big to swing at. He helped turn the place around and showed plenty of compassion.
That is the other side of Chef Ramsay we rarely get to see: the man of compassion, and empathy. Watch 'Junior Masterchef', and you really get to see that side of him. I remember in one episode of the 'Hotel' series, the Head Chef suddenly collapsed right in front of him. Gordon did what he could, until the ambulance arrived. Fortunately, the Chef was back home next day, but Gordon took time out to visit him, with no cameras around, just sound. Then, when the Chef returned back to work, iirc, Gordon tore into the owners for literally putting their Head Chef into hospital, due to the sheer stress he was under ... Then there was the couple above. After seeing how they were living, and seeing they actually gave a damn, but just needed a little bit of luck on their side, he rented an appartment for them for 8 months, in order to get help them get back on their feet; and if the comments above are anything to go by, it is now a thriving hotel, all thanks to his generosity ...
Chef Ramsay isn't just the angry Brit who loves food. He's a human being. He has compassion. We mostly see it on Master Chef Jr. but it's come out a few times on Hotel Hell and Kitchen Nightmares.
@@thenightmaricsenpai524 considering he sees people that server moldy.. Rotten.. And outright contaminated food.. I am not shocked he is always so fuckin angry. Broken in 2 places in your spine is enough to feel like a goddamm shit. But living like that breaks my heart. No wonder they could not do that well during that time! That is no condition for these two couple to live in!
I remember this episode! Chef Ramsay actually rented these two people an apartment and paid their rent upfront for like 6 months! This was the first ever Kitchen Nightmares where I cried. This episode right here is why I love Chef Ramsay so much and will watch just about anything he is involved with. Yes he can be incredibly confrontational, and yes he can be extremely hard on people--but that's only because he cares so much. He is a millionaire celebrity and world re-known chef and yet he travels all over America and Britian helping people. He doesn't have to do it, and his life would undoubtedly be easier if he didn't, but that's the way he gives back and I admire him immensely.
Thats so true.. And i admire him.. He is an inspiration to many like me.. I'm obsessed with his cooking skills. Too bad i realise too late how good as a person he is inside..

Richard Ramos they are doing great now. The man is a great hotel manager and owner. After Gordon's visit, they become a 4-star hotel and business is great now. I stayed there last year
I have an Asian mother and I can tell you that this is pretty common in Asian women, at least from the last generation. They are very hard working and dedicated. They are also incredibly proud and asking for help or sharing intimate life details is a sharp blow to their pride. Seeing Suki crying over "the bad times" really reminds me of my mother. It would be nice if I had the resources to help my mother have a better life.
Yup. We were so poor we lived in hotels, just like this couple (it was free for us, because it was owned by relatives). But my mother never got government help. She wouldn't do that to her pride.
I use to work with a lot of Mexicans, Indians (actual Indians, not Native Americans) and Haitians. None of them had any problem sharing personal troubles with me or being very open to anyone who would offer help. In my own personal experiences Asians are way more withdrawn and stubbornly prideful.
A lot of times I've felt Gordon is like a therapist to people in these videos and this one is the most obvious. Just the way he listens and repeats what they say and asks questions.
I think it has a lot to do with their attitude. Apparently a lot of places fail cause they go right back to their old ways as soon as Gordon leaves. But these people seemed so kind and appreciative.
Mikael Britschgi I don't see those as two different sides. When he's yelling at someone, he's usually just shouting the truth, and almost every time it's something that needed to be said or to help. Even when he's being compassionate like this, he's still unfiltered and only ever shows sympathy when he truly feels it for someone. But he always seems to show support, just in different ways. Sometimes through scolding, other times through encouragement, and always through sharing knowledge, talking with people person to person, and working his ass off. It's just his tone that changes, not his personality.
I love the compassion expressed by Gordon at 1:38 "Can you show me" You can tell that he can tell that this is not bad people with bad intent, just people down on their luck, trying to get by. This whole episode was wholesome.
Ramsay does not cook in his restaurants, but you could say, that he organizes things and creates recipes so his genius might shine, but in reality his restaurants are not better than many others. When I look at the video, I don't even have to know much about the entertainment industry, I can just see from some scenes, that a lot is staged.
On top of that, how long does it take to drive to the supermarket and cook up burgers afterwards? that's easily 1 hour +, especially if you don't know where everything is located
You're acting like he's the worst person on earth for making burgers. And McDonald's burgers in no way taste better than a homemade burger made from ingredients from the store. I personally have never had a bad burger made from 'shitty super market' meat that tasted like 'dog shit', unless the person didn't add any seasoning or burned them AKA didn't know HOW TO COOK. And oh look, Gordon Ramsay happens to be someone who knows how to cook, ergo it's likely the burgers were very tasty and not dog shit. Obviously it's staged, it's television. But not all things are staged, sometimes they do just come up with stuff on the spot. It's entirely possible that there was a grocery store right down the road, wouldn't take long to get to one and buy the proper ingredients, 15-30 minutes at most. You're acting like these things are impossible to do just because it's a new location, though it probably was set up beforehand for drama.
Broke both ankles and back in 2 places...he's really lucky to be even walking, especially at his age (not throwing shade, back injuries are notoriously difficult to heal). These owners deserved all the help and kindness Chef Ramsay gave them.
Luke Dawson She is unbelievably sweet. Caring for her husband after a tragic accident, and her only complaint is that her children may have to look after them. So selfless and tough- she deserves the world for being an exceptional human being.

“Sometimes I don’t step out of the hotel for eight days and it’s uh-.... it’s sad” For some reason it felt like she was wanting to say “Depressing” but didn’t want to give people any ideas. I mean, she was so smiley and happy when Gordon talked to her off her shift, but the moment he saw the room and said “I’m sorry” she started breaking up with tears. I mean shit, this stuff would depress me if I was working my ass off for a job that doesn’t pay well and life just continuously kept me in a less fortunate situation
Thats why I felt bad for this couple...they weren't being lazy, delusional or arrogant...they just fell on bad times and didn't have a way out....way too much at one time. Anyone can relate to that, and Gordon saw it showed some compassion and actually helped them in more ways than one.
Great to see that Mr. Ramsay recognized these owners truly tried and it was not laziness but just bad circumstances that put them in this spot. He pulled it out in a big way with humble patience and understanding. This was my favorite episode because it truly showed his heart is in the right place for this.
No you show them how he not only paid the salary of a chef until they could afford to keep her but he also rented an apartment out for them for six months just so they had somewhere to call home.
kysike666 ummm isn’t that kinda graphic and rude? As long as they don’t enforce their dietary rules onto you then you shouldn’t judge people based on how they eat. I’m not vegetarian but I still support them since what they’re doing helps the environment and their health. Like you don’t have to agree with it, but don’t wish death on others that have done nothing wrong to you.
Imagine you're having a damn bad day and you already had to wait for like almost an hour there, you're about to leave. And BOOM you see Gordon Ramsay himself serving those tasty sliders to you.
Just the fact that the hotel is still open and thrive even during the pandemic shows that the owners actually competent and love their business. Heck, the husband actually had credible hotel experience as well not like others in the show
Hotel Chester, I feel, was an exception to Hotel Hell in that the owners weren't incompetent by nature, they had just been dealt a bad hand and were overwhelmed by their personal lives to the point that it was directly impacting their business. They're one of the few Hotel Hell owners that garnered legit sympathy from me. Most of the time it's arrogance, laziness, or just being completely out of their depth or combinations of all three.
I think chefs tend to develop a pair of fire-proof hands after many years of cooking. Kind of like how experienced tailors develop needle-prick-resistant fingers.
This is why I like Gordon Ramsay, he has two completely different sides to him. We all know he has a mean, aggressive, and temperamental attitude. But, he also can be caring about people and really helpful.
Choufornow Productions You understand that when he yells he’s also caring for his victims, but in a different way. He’s making them strong because you are bound to take criticism more than once in your cooking career, and that criticism is to only make you learn and get better. So Gordon’s making you tough as nails, wants you to learn and get the best as you can, and really cares for you when times get tough. He may seem mean, but in all he is one heck of a guy.
How can I make a Nino joke... Nino cooks the burgers at 8 am... Nino lives in the restaurant... I.... can’t do it. This broke my heart. Not even trashing Nino will help.
Gordon Ramsay is an ANGEL. He knows when to scream on someone so that person gets up and running or is nice, when really someone is saying real truth. If all humans would be like him, me etc. Thank You Chef Gordon Ramsay! We love YOU ALL!

I'd be crying if it were me 😂
They work with fire they kinda get used to it I weld and my hands are more used to heat compared to normal people due to the anmount of burns I’ve received
Captain Falcon Tell me about it...Love the kitchen though, its my passion !!
It was also a relatively light encounter with heat. It would have been much more painful if he'd actually touched the grill.

You think in the time she makes an appetiser he can actually wait 45 minutes, then go to the shop, then buy food, then prepare it all, and still no appetisers lol?
Broken in 2 places in your spine is enough to feel like a goddamm shit. But living like that breaks my heart. No wonder they could not do that well during that time! That is no condition for these two couple to live in!

Holden Mcgroine doesn't a Big Mac have like 1500 calories in it or something?

Judg3m3nt that's comment in pretty much every person immigrating/immigrated to a new country
I use to work with a lot of Mexicans, Indians (actual Indians, not Native Americans) and Haitians. None of them had any problem sharing personal troubles with me or being very open to anyone who would offer help. In my own personal experiences Asians are way more withdrawn and stubbornly prideful.
Judg3m3nt - Yes, Asians are much more private. But Indians (you're talking about from India, right?) are actually Asians...
Yea they are technically Asians but so are Russians. You know what I mean when I say Asians.
A lot of times I've felt Gordon is like a therapist to people in these videos and this one is the most obvious. Just the way he listens and repeats what they say and asks questions.
"You have to do, what you have to do." What a strong woman, Gordon was very delicate and much respect to all those folks!
Gosh, Gordon I came here to watch you cook, my tears are salty enough to season a steak

dude's a very good man
Gordon’s nice
He has two sides: His angry/frustrated side, and this one. His nicer and softer side.
Jackson Meade You know, that actually makes alot of sense. I agree with you.
Mikael Britschgi they're the same side just depends on the person
I love the compassion expressed by Gordon at 1:38 "Can you show me"
You can tell that he can tell that this is not bad people with bad intent, just people down on their luck, trying to get by.
This whole episode was wholesome.
Can you imagine leaving that place because the service was taking too long, and then finding out that Gordon fucking Ramsey made everyone burgers?
Sacred Ghost pretty sure everyone there knows Gordon is there, since none of the faces are blurred
Burger Van Dreamz
And what have you done so far with your life? 🙃
THOSE GUESTS ARE SO LUCKY. I'D KILL FOR ONE OF CHEF RAMSAY'S BURGERS.
Would you sit through multiple weeks of disgusting food if you had the chance to taste Gordon's burgers?

“Sometimes I don’t step out of the hotel for eight days and it’s uh-.... it’s sad”
For some reason it felt like she was wanting to say “Depressing” but didn’t want to give people any ideas.
I know right it made me tear up a bit and people who dont they have no soul
Thats why I felt bad for this couple...they weren't being lazy, delusional or arrogant...they just fell on bad times and didn't have a way out....way too much at one time. Anyone can relate to that, and Gordon saw it showed some compassion and actually helped them in more ways than one.
Don't exaggerate. She said sometimes she'd go SEVEN days without stepping out of the hotel. Huge difference.
Great to see that Mr. Ramsay recognized these owners truly tried and it was not laziness but just bad circumstances that put them in this spot. He pulled it out in a big way with humble patience and understanding. This was my favorite episode because it truly showed his heart is in the right place for this.

He's tough when he needs to. But he just wants people to have their dream as a restaurant owner to become true.

Tough love
That's because he cares
He cares when they care. If they have passion, love and dedication he sees it and will help them. He doesn't care for time wasters and liars
