U-Haul typically has a donate area in their stores that are open to the general public. When customers move out of their storage units, they leave items for people to take. It's mostly furniture but there are also household items, vintage bowls, clothes, packing material, etc.
Your videos have been so helpful. I just started reselling on eBay a couple of weeks ago and appreciate all your tips. Thanks also for jumping right into the content - your videos have good timing.
I love the Goodwill Bin stores. You dig through these big bins and pay by the pound. Clothes, shoes,, glass, books, etc are all in seperate bins. Found amazing things for cheap.
Estate sales companies don't take 10 to 20% commission. It's more like 50% and higher. It takes a lot of efforts to plan, organize, and market the sale. They have to be there on site for 1 to 3 days and hire workers to assist.
@@CoachCommerce in my area, the ritzy sections try to sell you their used junk for a little more than what they paid for it. 😏 We prefer the country road or "riff raff" section sales. The people seem nicer too.
Good video, but careful with dumpster diving. It is illegal in many communities. As stupid as it may sound in my city it is "theft of services" to take anything from a garbage can/dumpster or recycle bin. I found out the hard way and luckily got off with a warning. $500 fine up to 1 year in jail depending on the value.
Thanks for the advice Scott! That does sound crazy but it doesn't surprise me anymore. I couldn't imagine spending a year in jail for dumpster diving. lol. It's really kind of sad that so much stuff that isn't actually garbage ends up in landfills. Only in America I guess. I have heard in the past that one of the biggest ways that employees steal from companies, is by throwing merchandise in the dumpster (and picking it up after they get off of the clock). I had a friend that had a business call the police on him because he was "taking" their garbage. When the police got there, they found out that the employees were stealing from the business and got themselves caught. Crazy.
Hi Bret. Yes I use godaddy bookkeeping (or outright). It syncs directly to your eBay and bank accounts and is intuitive with categorizing expenses and profits. It costs $9.99 a month. Then, come tax time I just print my profits and loss reports and take them to my cpa. Makes everything a breeze.
Good- Only that thrift around here guess what they are selling the items like new items- lol they are crazy !!! that's when you see how bad since are become !!!!

Good advice
Estate sales are so dang overpriced. Went to one today, had a 5-year old (or older) 55" off brand tv and they wanted $359. Yeah pass.
I love your site. When I missed something, I can see what is in certain areas. Your advice is wonderful. Thank you.
Thanks for the video
Very helpful! Thank you.
Thanks

Haha, I agree! They’re great to go to for community garage sales though!

How do you get receipts for the things bought on marketplace, etc. to have them for tax purposes?
I just write the date and location with the cost and put them with my other records
How do you keep track of everything for tax time. Do you use a software?
