It's always funny when people use the fact that you went to public school as an insult. The top 5 high schools in my state were all public.

    • @sirreepicheeprules7443

Private schools generally have much better environments, teachers and you have a good chance of making connections with wealthier people. That said, there are always exceptions and those who have what it takes to succeed will find a way.

    • @kayseek1248

Yea I've only been to a super fancy restaurant once, and the main thing I remember was that the dishes didn't look like food, they looked more like sculptures made from food stuffs (like I ordered a Ceasar salad that looked more like ruins, it was nuts) and also I got drunk on the wine and port and accidentally knocked over a full glass of port ALLLLL over their fancy white table cloth and was just like. Drunkenly apologizing to the waiter over and over again 😅

I was a fine dining server for various country clubs. The ones that I worked in with snooty people was in communities that worked like a revolving door, people moving in, people moving out. Those types are leveraged up to their eyeballs bc they are trying to "play rich," or nouveau riche. The "real" rich country clubs always had nice humble people. I learned if you are not happy with your life without money you will not be happy with your life with money and a house of cards doesn't make you rich.

    On tipping....
I went to a most fantastic restaurant, expecting nondescript food. I ordered lamb, and it was cooked to perfection everything was perfect and seasoned correctly and flavorful as well as Beautiful plated. The waitress was incredible. She was right there every second watching see what I needed help or if I wanted anything more. My meal was right around $30. I gave her a $15 tip and I sent a $15 tip to the chef complement him on how wonderful the food was. The shift sent back the money, and I sent a message back. For the waitress to tell them when you go to a restaurant it comes in three parts, the ambience of the restaurant, the waitress and the chef. If the chef is extraordinary, and the waitress is not why would I give her a good tip. In this case both the waitress and the chef were above and above expectations they deserve gratitude for excellence.

@Sweet Tooth Vulture I think of that cellphone provider commercial where he is serving samples at a store like Costco and says "THIS IS NOT A BUFFET! USE A COCKTAIL STICK!" That commercial was so funny because it's mainly "middle class" people who can afford the membership and have to buy things in bulk outside of a business situation. Yea, just the irony of a chef that has multiple restaurants working as a sample server at a big box store was so funny.
In any situation never ever try to be Gordon Ramsay unless you are Gordon Ramsay.

Not a restaurant, but a high end boutique in North Hollywood years ago. We had celebrity customers at all three of the boutiques owned by this couple. It was not a big deal, we just treated them like everyone else, but some would want super exclusive treatment. One lady would call all the time and ask us to stay open late for her, she would say she was driving and wouldn't make it on time. We would tell her no, we weren't paid overtime to stay for her. She would say, I'm David Hasselhoff's wife. Still would tell her no. Still don't know her actual name, but she was the worst. Some boutiques would close for celebrities to shop privately but it wasn't our policy to do so at that store. Robin Wright was one of our customers, as were many others who were very nice, polite, and courteous, I would have waited a few extra minutes for one of them, but not her.

Used to work in a fancy coffee shop that got local politicians in all of the time and one guy who was a complete prick and treat everyone like shit showed up on my shift and when I took the coffee order he lectured me on exactly how to make his coffee and it took 5 minutes and I pretended to take notes, as I walk away I hear him say to his friend “if you don’t tell them firmly they never learn- it’s like training a dog”
So instead of making him his science project in a cup I grab the instant coffee from the staff room and make him a coffee with that and I add my bosses ‘coffee mate’ instead of the chilled milk he requested. I put it on the elegant saucer and head back to the table. He makes me wait as he takes his first sip and he smiles smugly and says- “see you listened and learned something today didn’t you.”
I smiled and walked away knowing that I learned that rich prick couldn’t tell expensive af coffee from instant and was getting charged full price for the trouble too :)

I was in a situation once were my education was questions. My reply was something to the order of, you are right I am disadvantaged, I was sent to a English Public school, call preparatory school. Our headmaster insisted that we become educated in the arts, language, and in social etiquette from around the world. You see we were expected to be the leaders of tomorrow. You are aware that in England a is a private school in the United States. My teachers were retired college professors who just enjoyed teaching and they were a friend of our headmaster. Who happened to be an expert in old English and Latin.

My dad told me about a time he went to a fancy steak place in Seattle (you know what it is if you live there) and a Seahawks player came in with a security guy who was at least a few inches bigger than my over 6 ft dad. I mean, they have a wall full of celebrities that been there from Samuel L. Jackson to Jay Leno and I think they have a private area so they can be left alone but I guess it makes sense for a football player to have a big bouncer dude. If he gets injured, he can't play but the security guy's job is to throw unruly people over their shoulders and into the street gutter where they belong.
