    Great Video, I have a 2024 Polaris XP 1000 Ultimate and I just installed Gorilla Whip lights. The system is set up with a relay and switch and the power source is two wires, 1 positive and one negative that go to the Pulse bar. I hooked the ground and power red to the incoming from the battery on the pulse bar and the light switch is constant on so I know that wont work. I cant find where they make the pigtails yet for the 2024s but if they did can you just hook up the red positive wire to the blue keyed wire to the pigtail? Or would it be better to splice the red (hot) into the keyed wire going into the end of the pulse bar.

    • @JosephHunstad
      @JosephHunstad  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello there. Good question. If the load is not excessive, I would hook it to a pole spar connector switch to wire and ground. If it’s a high load requirement, then either directly into the positive on the Paws bar or even the battery. It’s probably not that big of a low though. Take care consider subscribing. Thanks Joe.

    Hey Joe, the Black Oak Led light bar only has the red and black eyelet to place on the battery terminal. I was going to cut the eyelets off and use the pigtails and butt connectors. I don’t have a blue wire from my light bar. Can I wire it with just the red and black and put a nut on the blue from the pigtail?

    • @JosephHunstad
      @JosephHunstad  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey buddy, great question. What you’re trying to do is directly wire up your light bar and if you wire the red and black to the light bar the light bar will be on all the time which will drain down your battery and it’s not a good idea. I would recommend a switch that goes between the light bar and the pulse bar. The switch could connect to either the blue or red depending on if you want to turn the light on with the engine, running or all the time, I’d recommend having the blue, so it’s only available when the engines on, and then the red and black from the light bar to the switch. I think that’s the best option. Thanks consider subscribing. Joe.

    Glad I stumbled across your channel. New sub here. Curious, what size and brand of electrical wire would you recommend for connecting accessories? I recently bought a 2023 Ranger XP 1000 crew Northstar Ultimate and I plan on adding a light bar and a couple 5” cubes. Is there a particular brand you like? I’m a DIY’er for most projects except electrical. I tend to let the smoke out of things. Should all my wire be the same size of the bus connector wire? Thanks for the video

      Excellent question and congratulations on your RANGER. You will love it. Yes, I would use the same wire gauge that’s in the pulse bar connectors. That way you’ll be safe. There are so many brands of lights to choose from. Take a look at the video. I did on the light bar installation for the Ranger it lists the brand which has worked well for me. Hi, Can you show where you hook the blue ignition wire from the pulse bar? I am not sure where it goes. I have the black to black and red to red but my switch stays lit even when key is off. I have seen so many people with the same issue but cant find an answer. Your video is the best I have seen but it doesnt show where to run the blue wire either. I am hooking up a light bar... Thank you

    • @JosephHunstad
      @JosephHunstad  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So the red wire has power all the time the blue wire only has power when the switches turned on. You could disconnect the red wire and connect the blue wire and that will give you power only when the switches turned on. Give that a try. These three wires are ideal when using a switchsuch as on a winch, but unless the draw is too great, connecting the blue wire as the positive wire should work fine. Consider subscribing. Thanks, Joe.

    • @JosephHunstad
      @JosephHunstad  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You ask a great question. It should be easy to connect because it just needs a negative ground a positive power terminal and then the switched or blue terminal. What’s those three are connected your pulse bar is good to go and then you just need to find a good spot to mount it.when you remove the old block, take a look for those three wires. Those are key wires to connect to the pulse bar. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.

    • @JosephHunstad
      @JosephHunstad  ปีที่แล้ว

      OK, so if you wire up your switch with the blue wire - which power is the switch only when the ignition is on Dash you can cap off the red wire. Thanks Joe a wire nut will protect it from shorting.

    Can I use just the blue & black wires. I have a LED dome light & it only has a red & black wire. It has a on/off push button switch on it so I don't want to have to use a rocker switch. Would I put a in-line fuse on the positive side?

    Hello Dr. Joe! Great video! Quick question. If I'm wiring up a Winch that has a Black and Red wire, if I don't want constant power to the Winch, I would wire the black wire from the winch to the black wire on the plug, and the red wire from the winch to the blue wire (in the sample plug you're showing) on the plug so it will only work with the ignition on, correct? And what do I do with the red wire? Can I pull it out of the slot? Or just clip it short and put some heat shrink over the end of it? Thank you!

    • @JosephHunstad
      @JosephHunstad  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello snubblet!!
      Thank you for your nice comment. When you wire up a winch with a black and red wire, connect the black to the black and the red to the blue wires.
      That will give you switched power.
      The black wire is the ground on the winch which connects to the ground on the pulse bar. The blue is the switched electrical current turns on when the ignitions on so you’re winch will work.

    • @JosephHunstad
      @JosephHunstad  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a great question. But if you connected to the pulse bar, then the 20 5 AM fuse will limit the electrical draw through it. Usually 20 5 AM is plenty for that application. It’s possible you may have a larger winch that has a greater draw. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe.

      Hello Johnny. Really great question. Be sure that it has the power connection to it, which is the red cable directly from the battery. The black is a Ground, and that should be connected as well. If those are connected to the pulse bar, it should be working fine as long as the fuse is intact. Yes, I saw that there was a harness that you could buy that has that snap in plug’s along with hot and negative. There are a couple other plugs that have to plug into like ignition and something else I noticed. I didn’t know where you would plug those in since there is a pre-existing cable already. Or do I have to get two pigtails plus and minus and then splice into the ignition cable? Sorry I haven’t really dug into it very much. I wish I would have before. I ordered the bar because it looks like you can buy a kit harness and bar. My main concern is if I buy a wire harness only thing I can think of is I need a Y when it comes to the ignition cable plug the Y into the cables, and that one and into ignition plug.. Does that make sense?
