I absolutely love reading comments telling you how to run your show!!!!!!! These people are so out to lunch!! Don’t know how you do it. LMFAO!!! Anyway…. As usual love your channel. Love the creativity. Love living outside the box. As for the reveal of the carbon roof…. My vote is the revealed stripe. That sounds pretty cool. Keep it up.
I waited for this video for years. I remember I saw a post from you a long time ago on FB, I asked why someone would want to put a Subaru engine on a porch, you sent me to watch your video on TH-cam. And here we are. Congratulations. Now I can't wait to see that tuned and rolling.
That is an amazing process and such a fun job! I’ve been checking in on all the cool stuff you’re doing over the years and it’s fun to see a fellow creative mind putting all the energy into our favorite German classic!
😅 I was yelling at my monitor when I saw you were setting up to weld the stabar bracket 90* wrong! Glad you realized your mistake before trying to mount the bar! DOH! Like what you’re doing to the 911’s red-headed stepchild! 😉 Rock on! 😀👍👍
I take it this is stronger than the original panel with regard to torsional rigidity in the frame of the car? It doesnt look like there are any cross members in the roof to stop the car from twisting in the 930s? Looks awesome btw.
A good way to go while getting rid of a bit of rust. You sure about 50lbs lopped off? I guess 35lbs max but for sure the carbon is lighter than the sunroof panel and motor.
Please cover your other cars when using the cut-off. Those sparks are like little meteors that will bury themselves into both paint AND glass. 🙄AMHIK...
My heart weeps to see a roof equipped with sunroof cut off this car. Big then again the heart of the car is no longer Porsche so might as well make it into something of your own that looks like a Porsche.
First of all, it's a 1976 912. There's not a ton of inherent value in the car in the first place. Second of all, the roof was so rusted that it needed to be replaced anyway. This is a no-brainer. This car is getting a Subaru 3 L engine so clearly we aren't worried about the resale value
@@rennch.Like I said might as well make it into something of your own that resembles a Porsche. I admit I’m a Porsche purist, I don’t understand why you think all purists are put off by this though. Yes guys like me prefer to see these cars preserved and kept original if the potential is there to do it. Nothing bugs me more than taking a car that can be preserved and hacking it up, there are fewer and fewer of these cars in original form (especially the 912). However if that isn’t possible even as a purist I would rather see these resto-mods done to support the enthusiasm for the brand by keeping them on the road in spirit of the original. I wouldn’t be viewing your videos otherwise - even if my heart weeps at times 😊. Please don’t paint all purists in the same box.
It for production value don’t don’t record the sound of the grinder do a voice over something that drives every woman in the house crazy where they’re like what are you watching take that off FYI

Beautiful work Mike.
With all those clamps - hell raiser came to mind.

The island works guy is insane. His stuff is crazy next level stuff.
Very nice carbon fiber roof.

Awesome channel, I’ve been following you for years. Thank you for including your mistakes in the video, super helpful
Thank you brother!
it's so cool (and light) a carbon roof on a classic car 🤩😎 would love to have one on my track Golf^^
Great job Mike as usual.

Looks nice, easy, and it really saves a lot of weight. Well done
Tank you so much for showing how its done!! Thank you !!
Looks amazing, definitely something I want to do to my 911 in the future
Nice that looks cool
What do a refrigerator and a walrus have in common?? They both like a tight seal.....🤣 Sorry couldn't resist, great episode, that carbon is gorgeous!
The carbon fiber roof is going to look great. Why you would do it so early in the restoration of the body?
Great episode, you make things look so easy!
i would have used a epoxy primer or sealer ( like steal it) before bounding, but very nice.......keep up the good work
Your skills are much better than the so called "professionals" and I think you should do this full time 😀
is this GT-Racing roof?

Which panel bond are you using please Mike?
Bro is that a timelapse fart at 11:07?

Who did you get the carbon panel from?

That way I will not get crap for watching my channels, just a thought save a brother.

That is hilarious my wife said exactly that 😂
