  • Introducing a new series on the restoration of NC&StL No. 576! Learn more at nashvillesteam.org! Join the knowledgeable Nashville Steam Preservation Society (NSPS) team with restoration updates and stories of what makes the Stripe so special.
    In the first episode, NSPS President and Project Foreman Shane Meador talks about the boiler tubes and flues that handle the fire and heat transfer to boil the water and create steam. The tubes and flues must be removed and eventually replaced as part of the restoration. Let us know what you'd like to learn about 576 and stay tuned for more from Nashville Steam!

    Ever since I was a child and this loco sat in Centennial Park, I've crawled all over it and sat in the cab dreaming what it would be like to ride in it. I hope to live long enough to see it in action and maybe get to ride on an excursion one day. I'm so happy to see all of this getting done to ole No. 576! Keep up the good work guys!

    Hopefully by 2022 or 2023 576 will be operating in Tennessee again for the first time since the 50s in excursion service

    "You get dryer steam when you heat it again" I'm sorry maybe you could explain further how that works?
    I'm no scientific expert on steam but dryer steam? Really?
