Absolutely this, the picture of Lizzie plus the "You would have loved this pack" i don't often do belly laughs, but i did when i saw that. Plumbella has the best sense of humour i CANNOT EVEN 😂😂😂
lol loved the edit XD. Also, I don’t think this can be an honest review: regardless of how good or bad the pack is, Plumbella would love it just because of the kettle. :P
About the beach with the cave - I think it's a shame that we all just accepted that they don't do hidden worlds anymore. That cave would have been perfect for a little hidden world... a tunnel system under Tomarang used by nosy sims to snoop? A hidden world with tigers? That only wise sims know about and can access? Or generous sims can tell you about it? And it could have been part of the aspiration? We should be pissed that they don't do hidden worlds anymore.
I was thinking the same. Forgotten Hollows has literally one of the same boarded up mines like the ones in the desert world. Why can you open and explore one or them and not the other? Lazyness I'm afraid...
it's so crazy to me that sims 4 can't do what sims 2 did nearly 20 years ago which is not having loading screens when visiting sims in the same apartment building
I don’t understand when people are going to finally get that the sims 4 ENGINE IS ALSO OLD -_- and it doesn’t work the same like the other engines So they scammed us. But tbh they are trying their best to give us shxt with that shitty old engine so 🤷
Well, from a programmer's perspective, if you have those apartments loaded all the time when on the lot, it can put a lot of stress on your computer and you'd have lag/fps issues. Plus the sims 2 graphics are nothing to be impressed over, looks like a Minecraft flat world. So some sacrifices had to be made. Like with the sims 3 performance, as we know, is trash cause they wanted open-world concept, hence why we have loading screens in sims 4. Hoping Sims 5 will have some render distance optimizations if it will be open-world. 😁
Also, it's based on the scrapped version of Sims Multiplayer, that they changed last minute to make it the Sims 4. So, of course a lot of the things made in the very structure of the game make it so bad... It wasn't made for this purpose at all!
It's really disappointing that TS4 came with the promise of having better performance and less rabbit holes in exchange for a loading screen and then it proceeds to have more rabbit holes and less lots and still needing the loading screen for performance issues
I feel like they even underuse rabbitholes, especially in HSY. I don't wanna go to every prom or after-school activity. I don't want to go to every graduation. I don't want to constantly have to follow one sim when I have a large family to look after
@@adrianalvarez1468 treating a temple in Tomerang like the one from JA is disrespectful though. It's like solving puzzle in the mosque or the church. But it would have been better if it was not a rabbit hole.
@@malevaistudio2105 Technically, going into the tombs in World Adventures and Jungle Adventure is movie magic grave robbing even if archeology is involved and you don't want to do that with the temple of an active religion where people pray, show their respects, and make offerings. You could do other puzzles, but that's what @agsheuehd was protesting against.
Yep. And horse ranch, too. Haven't had an actual game pack since werewolves. Wonder where they ran off to. Oh wait, they are called expansion packs now.
This should have been a game pack. Them selling such a small world for expansion pack that is about the size of Tartosa from the wedding pack is insane.
It's not about the world, though. We've had an expansion pack with no world even. People would have bitched if we had no world now, but they're still upset by the size of this one. Smh.
@@WelcomeApathy yeah because we've had expansion worlds with 27 lots and now we are getting worlds for the same price that only have like 9-12 lots, its abhorrent.
@@WelcomeApathy The expansion pack with no world (Seasons) introduced weather, holidays, 4 seasons, AND gave other worlds unique climates. The only selling point of For Rent is buildable rentals, and the world that comes with it has 9 tiny lots and only 3 rentals. It's hard to justify $40 for a pack that has the same amount of content as vampires and spellcasters.
@@WelcomeApathy, expansion packs with no worlds are usually pretty expansive, with lots of features and content to make up for it. From what I'm seeing, not only does For Rent not have an expansion pack worth of features and content, it also has a small world. And players upset by the size of this world would be equally justified if they were upset because there was no world. One doesn't cancel out the other.
I'd like to point out that if you wanted to visit your neighbour in The Sims 2 Apartment Life, you just knocked on their door, and their apartment would magically appear, without a loading screen. You could just walk straight in and hang out, and when you left, it would just disappear again. All the while your own apartment was still active and loaded.
@@letsgo1572lol it can and I'm willing to wait and see who mods it in first, now that EA has set up a proper basis for apartments. Unfinished still but better than the city living bullshit. They can literally load the whole apartment lot as it is now and spawn in the sims in their units when a sim knocks on their door. Sims 2 did this with special doors and a system called sublots. I'm p sure this would be really easy to mod even without dependencies from this pack. You'll just need a more advanced script door object.
@mihailoveselinovic7151 it can't be moded. Literally the tool mod creator said that sims 4 core is like this and can't be changed, only if a whole sims 4 code gets rewritten.
@@letsgo1572 Yes, and that's a problem. The fact that an older entry in the same franchise can do it, and the current, supposedly best version can't, is a problem. Also don't forget they claimed pools were impossible in their engine at first.
@CapnCrimson who claimed pools were impossible, where yall get this weird info from? The game is 10 years old already I think time for you all to move on, because sims 4 core was like this since start. And they either try to add new features, while stretching the code as much as they can, or do nothing.
I feel like they could have AT LEAST made the temple an actual lot and not just a rabbit hole... Things like that are a great way to implement culture and replayability but the Sims team just keeps missing the mark every single time.
@@MoniqueDamphousse73I have to agree with you, I have no idea why people keep buying packs/content instead of pirating, etc. I’m playing Sims 2 rn, and I haven’t touched Sims 4 in years.
I will never foe the life of me understand why EA doesn't give creators packs waaayyy earlier so they can get this feedback and then implement those suggestions. Because they are really good suggestions. EA just doesn't care anymore. 😢
they’ve never cared for us, they only care about the money & how little they can get away with.. and unfortunately they’re getting away with everything, because most of our community keeps buying the packs😭😅
it’s not about feedback it’s just promotion. they don’t care, but youtubers make people buy thing and that’s all that matters to them so they give away early access passes for youtubers to do their marketing work for them
As a Thai person, the world itself is stunning like literally I’m not gonna lie. But the rabbit holes kinda suck. I mean, we got the world adventures pack in the sims 3 and we see how fun it was exploring Pyramid, temple, or even mansion. I feel like if they could make it possible again that’d be awesome.
I am also from Thailand and I completely agree that the temple being only a rabbit hole really sucks. I feel like this representation feels so shallow and is only that, representation and its aesthetics (surprise surprise). The gameplay is barely anything about the culture it tries to represent. The rabbit-hole temple is an absolute missed opportunity. And I agree with Jesse saying that "For Rent" should be bundled with City Living and a Thai-centric pack should be made separate. I don't really see the logic of the renting concept and Thai culture being tied up together. It is honestly, literally just diversity marketing.
The annoying thing is, they DID do that type of gameplay in the Sims 4. Jungle Adventure came with a literal ruined temple to explore & puzzles to solve. They definitely could have done that here, too--EA just chose not to allot resources to developing that additional gameplay, which makes it even more disappointing.
@@p.patcharasoravut8098 I feel like they were hanging the entire For Rent connection to South Asia on the prevalence of multi-generational homes in Asian countries & aesthetics. They did the same with the loose Japanese influence in Snowy Escape. Its all aesthetics & hints of misrepresented spirituality.
the lore is interesting, the clothing is BETTER than interesting, mostly just excited that we've got a bit more diversity. shame it had to come almost 10 years after game launch lol. it's just, every time a new expansion comes out, im made aware of how purposely empty this game is. also, that we're buying diversity which is another problem of mine.
I wish I could like this multiple times, and you’re very last sentence is something I haven’t been able to put into words, but yet bingo that’s it Because of course, I love having more diversity in the game, but… I’m buying it? But I can be my American white self for free.
This would be more considered an expansion pack if they simply added the ability to make hotels, and made the world size reflect the amount of related gameplay (i.e. magnolia promenade) instead of making a map that's 75% ocean.
Yeah, you are right, especially since the landlord system already covers a lot of what the hotels would need so it would be more about some attractions, food, and some build buy stuff for hotels. For that I would finally be actually happy to pay that much. And extra lots.
At this point we have most things to make it as miserable as it should be, too 😂 A shared laundry attic, a barely functioning kitchen in the middle of the building you have to go up or down to each time, a boiler basement with everything breaking down…
@@wig.snatcher I highly do not. He has been straight up nasty about other simmers, disparaged anyone in his audience who disagreed with his opinion as being stupid, and said women that buy packs he doesn't like are "wasting their husbands money." Misogynistic and rude.
I'm usually quite positive about sims packs, but this one does feel quite empty to me... the main selling point is building units which you can do anyway just now they're officially separate buildings, and it doesn't feel like there's much other gameplay with it outside of rabbit holes and loading screens and another empty world. For 40 quid they could've at least made breaking and entering have consequences and reintroduced NPC burglars
This pack might feel empty because when watching reviews they only have access to the base game and the one pack. I feel like the pack itself is good, but it will better with pack compatibility.
@@00Rav3n00an expansion pack shouldn’t need cross-pack compatibility to not feel empty though. it should be able to stand on its own with just the base game
@@00Rav3n00i hate this bc all the packs are super expensive, so assuming u arent pirating u have to spend like 20-100 (depending on what u buy) dollars in total to make dlc engaging??? tbf i dont have any standards for ea at this point so idc
That's why you pirate any game EA makes. They are no longer the EA of 2003, all they care about is money - and if people pay $40-50 for a buggy/empty pack, why would they make anything else? People whine, then pay for it anyways. Even buying it on sale, they make a profit!
Even before the map was leaked I already knew the whole highlight of the expansion was going to be the gameplay for Tenant/Landlord. I don't know why they feel like they need to add a world to every expansion pack when they could focus on just the gameplay features. I remember we worried they were going to do the same for Seasons (I even remember the scare people had when they thought we'd get season specific small worlds) and yet they were able to make an expansion pack focused entirely on the gameplay aspect.
Because people would be upset if it was an expansion without a world. People are already upset about the size of the map, imagine if there was no world for an EP? There would be chaos
EPs without wordls in the SIms 4 are a hard sell because their worlds are already much more size limited than Sims 2 and 3. So the only way to get new lots is with new world. So while I get your point about focusing on the gameplay, the Sims 4 has never been the best at the gameplay. It's the best at build mode, so more lots beats an EP without a world for the majority, I think.
@@perfectblueeeee I feel like people are more upset that they bothered including a world that's about as large as a game pack. Like if you deleted the Get to Work world tomorrow I wouldn't notice because it's tiny and it sucks. If you're gonna make a world, make it a world! That's why people love the Cottage Living, City Living, and Cats & Dogs worlds. They're a decent size and have stuff to do.
@@perfectblueeeee its because theres literally nothing there babe, if you're going to make a world at least make it worth players' time, otherwise just flesh out the gameplay more. But instead we get mediocre gameplay and a mediocre world because they just couldn't use their resources cleverly enough
Personally, I like that they put the renting and Thai rep in one single pack. Like, I really dislike that whenever we get a functional, gameplay thing, it's always in an american pack (werewolves, horses, active school, apartments, fame, yadda yadda) and we have to keep waiting for them to decide to make a pack focused on representation of other cultures to get that representation [and these packs tend to be really lackluster precisely because they don't put effort into the gameplay, since, apparently to them, the representation is enough (it's not)]. Like, we have schools, and horses, and all this other stuff elsewhere, you know? Feels nice that in order to play with rent, you have to get the Thai pack and for a non-american-focused pack to be USEFUL. Or, in other words, nah, they could've made the world better (bigger) and with more things to do, AND work on the renting gameplay. Both, we want both
I agree so much. As someone from Latin America, it bothers me that worlds not set in Europe or USA are manly viewed as vacation spots. There are other gameplay features that can shine in and interact with these worlds besides local aspects, like it happens in real life. Also, For Rent is an expansion pack, they could and should have added more features and a more comprehensive world.
It feels like sabotage honestly. Last time I checked, For Rent is the worst rated pack right now, and it makes me sad cause I believe it’s also the first SEA-themed pack. It sets a really bad precedent.
@@niatozaki Same here. This tenant feature would have been the selling point for me if there was no loading screen to visit neighbours. I didn't even think there would be a loading screen ... how naive ... Definitely not buying this pack.
@AshleyIrene95 The lots in City Living were the apartments. Each one is it's own individual house hold. The just introduced loading screens just for entering a room 💀
I was worried the child of the village trait would be like child of the islands trait from island living.. the intensity of that trait makes it so annoying that I never end up using it, kinda disappointed it's the same thing
I love your content, you helped me realise I had autism and I got formally diagnosed at 28 this year. Very good review, I'm going to wait until they fix any problems it has at launch before getting it x
Same! I had never seen someone who was autistic the I am so I thought I was wrong for questioning. Then I found Plumbella and found out I was wrong and since then I’ve unmasked a ton.

Completely free too.
And they did idk. Yall say this only because sims 4 one has loading screens, but if you compare the amount of content and detail this apartments are clearing sims 2 ones
I don't think it's worth 40 dollars, but it looks like an overall good pack. I don't buy any packs -if you get what I mean- so I am more inclined to not care if it's worth the money or not.
As a Thai person, I can’t explain how happy this new expansion pack made me. Despite growing really bored with the sims 4, this definitely brought me back BIG TIME. Thank you for mentioning the lack of lots, it’s a little disappointing to hear about but nonetheless, I’m excited
As a Filipino, I also got excited seeing the world because this looks like the Philippines. 🤸🏼🤸🏼 Although, I won't be buying this full price and would need to wait for a while for it to get a discount. 😅
I don't mind loading screens - my biggest issue is the Sims I leave at home. If I leave my family at home, even for an hour, I come home and their stats are all out of whack. If I go out in the afternoon/evening, guarantee I come home and they're fully rested and now won't sleep all night
If I go to prom as a teen with infant or toddler family members they're all starving the whole time because a parent is home so they're not at daycare but the parent isn't doing shit.
Thats my biggest problem with this game and the reason why i dont leave the home unless necessary its so annoying 😭 + same i dont mind loading screens theres many other things that annoys me :((
THIS is my exact problem. i do dislike loading screens but i CANNOT stand their wacked up needs upon returning. it totally throws everything off😭😭😭 it leads to me never having my sims leave the house and then i become bored with the game entirely
i'm really excited about a lot of features from this pack but i can't help but think about if the sims team could have just planned packs from the beginning. think about how different city living and university would have been if they were all planned at the same time instead and could use the same mechanics. like if we had this ability to separate rooms and shared spaces for university dorms. i feel every time they put out something new, they make something old obsolete. like why would we use the apartments in evergreen harbour anymore when we can make our own better rentals anywhere? and given how expensive each dlc is it kinda sucks when this happens (also see hot tubs, cool kitchen stuff < home chef) like all of the sims 4 is like they're making it up on the spot
For secrets, I feel like if you’re a nicer sim to others, or if you have positive and favorable traits, the more likely you’ll make others comfortable enough to tell their secrets to you, then the game should either let you use that for bad reasons (develop a blackmailing business) or if they’re good with keeping secrets, they can gain the career or goals of being a social worker! And on the other side of this, your sim could become burnt out socially because they have to keep people’s burdens OR they could take pride in gossiping. Also spying on people in this pack should also open you up to choosing the spy career
The tenant system looks like an upgrade to the university roommates feature. A much needed upgrade. This is what the roommates system should’ve been, it looks so much nicer.
@@MarishkaVladimirescu If you can get them to work, in most cases yeah. University housing has roommates, you have to load into that. That being said, it’s barely functional. But people have different standards.

@@Anonymous-up7zg excessive loading screens have been in the game since it’s release and the lag is still a persistent problem almost a decade later, even with higher end computers. even MORE loading screens won’t help when the game optimization is still trash
they can't change the game machinics that have existed since 2014.....they would need to make a whole new game with no loading screens to achieve that....
This pack is going to encourage me to move around a lot. Once I put a sim on a property, they are there UNTIL THEY DIE lol. But now, I feel inspired to have a more "nomad" family and move around to different worlds! (After making rental properties everywhere, obviously).
It's interesting to see how others play. I always play "nomad style" with the sims I care about, I never stay in a city, house for too long, I need that change to spice things up 😂. The Sims I don't care about are going to live for generations in the same house, city, lot. They are like a rabbit hole.
I feel like you can finally make a retirement home with this pack. Should be easy enough, with all the shared spaces and seperate rooms. Love watching your content Jesse! Thanks for sharing with us!
as a south east asian born and raised in the region I do agree that the world is way too small😅 for the location to me Morensong feels like Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, and Koh Sahpa feels like Bangkok and Bali at the same time (with a little sprinkle of Ho Chi Minh city lol). I love the architecture, the new traits and the clothes, but we could have more than what we got. Tomarang had so much potential to be the best world in the Sims 4.
I agree, its such a beautiful world but why add rabbit holes at all? It just makes it disappointing, add one small feature instead and it would be better, or just as decoration. It's a great world but I wish they didn't use things like the animal sanctuary and temple as selling points only for them not to be anything once you're in the game... they sounded so exciting
Me: Sims 2 Apartments have no loading screens. EA: We know that we were able to do this before, but just give us your money and stop complaining. Me: I am going back to my Sims 2 rotation.
No yeah cuz if you think ima microwave my tea where I microwave leftovers you got me fucked up 😂. Don’t need my herbal tea tasting like last night’s lasagna
As a European living in the Netherlands, I didn't even know it was a thing that people microwaved their water in order to have a cup of tea! How vile!🤢
@@sav9373 Such a strange stereotype 😭 I don’t think it’s common for americans to microwave their water?? i’ve never seen it anyway. if there’s no kettle i feel like ppl just boil water on the stove
I want to recreate that row of townhouses. Idk if the TS2 ones were based on San Francisco's Painted Ladies and I'll just be remaking James Turner's Painted Ladies build from like 3 weeks ago, but I WANT THOSE SPECIFIC TS2 TOWNHOUSES AGAIN.
I just wanted to say thank you for the level of detail and honesty you put into these reviews. They really help me decide whether or not a pack is for me or not. I also appreciate the transparency regarding when packs have issues. It's nice to see a video that is both honest and not critical for the sake of criticism. 👍
Thanks for your honest review. I can say EA no longer lets me down because they killed all expectation a long time ago. Renting out apartments should have been included in City Living. Content-wise, this is more of a stuff pack than an expansion.
the main reason i was disappointed in loading screens between units is because when I learned that we can have multiple families on one lot, i was like awesome this will be good for family gameplay, like if grandma lives in the attic or something but i still wanna play as her, i would have to jump between families and not be able to play them all if that makes sense.
Looking at this makes me wish this was a gamepack instead, cause I really want to use the gameplay, but I don't care about the CAS or build and buy, and not using the items will just feel like a waste of money.
The animal sanctuary being a rabbit hole is DISGUSTIN🤢🤮 they could have done so much more. Like I’m disappointed about it but, also should have expected it considering the sims are majorly lacking in ever category with anything they have recently released
we do have one (and and a half if you count the few buildings in eco lifestyle) city pack, but we also have about ten very rural worlds and fifteen suburban ones. this and hopefully more/better city worlds in the future are *definitely* needed
I’d like to see more non-American cities especially! We got a (very small) British one with the university pack, but it’d be fun to see one based on like Paris or Tokyo or Hong Kong or something.
I literally thought the whole point of this pack was to have neighbors without loading screens. Literally pointless. I wonder if modders can fix it? I can't wait for the next life sim game to actually release...I want a game that's actually immersive.
@@xythrial Why the hell not? The sims 2 is a game from ages ago and it didn't have them. Was it really that farfetched to think that since your lot IS ALREADY LOADED that you wouldn't need a loading screen? Truly people who sit by and let this happen is why this franchise has gotten so bad!
@@xythrial some of us figured since the whole gameplay of the pack would be renting out a house, they'd figure out how to make that function without loading screens between rooms. What else were they working on, the tartosa sized world?? I thought this would be like TS2 where the apartment would load when you knocked on the door, like houses do in TS4 before you knock on the door. But you're right, we should only ever expect the bare minimum from EA
The dramatic kettle edit was ✨chef’s kiss ✨ and I’m so happy there’s cross pack compatibility with cottage living because it was truly absurd there was no kettle in a British themed pack. The radiators and ac units also add so much more realism for me, and I really hope they work with seasons. They seem to have fleshed out the renting system pretty well, and I can see this elevating my gameplay options and creativity a lot, so I’m pretty strongly considering getting this one, honestly. Edit: still not buying it full price though lmao
Sims 4 releases a separate pack for building apartments. Meanwhile Sims 2 including this (plus being able to straight up visit your neighbors without loading screens) in Apartment Life along with so much more content than For Rent and City Living combined.
I was really looking forward to this world because I really want more worlds that aren't based off America and to a degree England (we have enough now imo). So while it's gorgeous, I'm sad to see how small it is. I hope Twisted Mexi finishes their Create-a-World mod soon, I need someone to clone this world but make it bigger with bigger lots. TuT And as always, thank you for your truly honest reviews and not glossing over any of the issues with packs. You're my go-to TS4 pack reviewer for this reason! ❤️
4:30 I am seeing a better ratio of clothes - which is finally happening after all those years. 20:35 I'm just gonna say it - City Living and Discover University pretty much have no value after this pack. Which is good. Hopefully they fix them or give them for free on next anniversary or something.
i dont think city living and discover uni have no value comparing to for rent tho, city living is the only metropolis centered world and... its just plain stupid to compare university pack with apartments. people still buy them anyway and no fucking way ea would let good packs slide away for free
@@by_tianowen it's metropolis, but it's relatively meh world in the first place. The ethnical part of it is the only actual relevant element left, because those neighbourhoods are quite empty, especially outside festivals (which mind you we got few of those in other packs). Buying an expansion for few empty fake skyscrapers, when you can make fully walkable rental towers with For Rent is just not worth it. And Discover University isn't an university pack. It's an American movie frat pack with a spice of robotics. The only good part of it were the robots, build and buy, cas, the roommates element and obviously the open shower. For Rent and Snowy Escape basically took huge part of the good parts from it, leaving only the robotics somehow fun. But again - no one should pay expansion price for Servos.
With secrets, they could have added things like "secretly hates *random sim*" or "has a crush on", "is jealous of", etc. That way sims relationships will have an extra layer.
Secrets could have totally worked like Sims 2 gossip. I've had Sims 2 sims find out about their partners infidelity through gossip. Unfaithful relationships, a secret lovechild, vegetarian Sims secretly enjoying meat, a Sim admitting they love their pet more than their partner, child Sims confessing to putting gum in their siblings hair or releasing their pet into the wild. Idk I can think of a million scenarios that apparently the Sims Team cannot 😂
I think because I already had low expectations this time around, I don't feel too disappointed but I just wish they did better. The clothes feel lack luster which makes no sense because this is supposed to be bas3d off of Thai culture & their culture has so many pretty patterns & clothing! Hairstyles as well that are more dear. The swatches as a builder is also sad. I know this is only the beta but just like my wedding stories the problems were just around due date and it's frustrating that this keeps happening. Honestly? Maybe this shouldn't have been an expansion pack. I love the idea of the pack and I don't want to be too negative, obviously, especially cause this is beta - it's just again disappointing. Edit: I would like to note that I 100℅ do not blame the devs for this. Glitches happen, & honestly I think they were on a strct deadline. And I do think this was for building a community & not just selling units. Again, i just find this all a but disappointing.
Had to decide if I wanted to watch your, lilsimisie’s or James Turner formerly known as the sim supply’s video first. Chose this one because I feel like you’re always the most honest one
Kayla is just selling stuff to us at this point, sadly. James is... I don't know. He hasn't sold out, but he's also not really a normal simmer anymore.
Disappointed by this - it seems we are getting less and less with expansion packs. The world is so small - I do want this pack but I will be waiting until it's half the price.
i feel like this pack is annoying as it feels so empty and lacking. yeah the new flats seem awesome and i wanna get it for that and the asian inspired world and objects are so cool. but $40 for this? it doesnt seem worth it for a tiny map and content. i wish theyd released the lot building as a City living refresh ):
The 28:11 edit is AMAZING and I love it. And I'm horrified at the microwaved-water intel. That's news to me. Shook. Absolutely shook. Thank you for the quality content, Plumbella. You're my absolute favourite sims tuber. Never stop being you, your authenticity is wonderful.
I feel like we're all just used to getting so little in these packs by now only to add a tiny bit of something new to our games that we forget how fcking expensive expansions are (even when they're on sale) which is sad
It feels like this pack started out as a City Living Refresh that they realised they could get more money out of as an expansion to me. Like they started out with the new tenant/landlord system and then added random bits onto it. I like getting a new world and culture, don't get me wrong, but it feels very thin and superficial and could have been done so much more with. For the expansion pack price I don't think it's OK to make a decent bit of gameplay and just add a small world and some rabbit holes. I know Satchonsims says it should have been a gamepack, and in some ways I agree with that, since the gameplay is the focus of the pack. However, it is "expansive gameplay", so it does fit the expansion pack brief, I guess, it's just really weak.. Really wish the sims team thought more along the lines of the Sims 3 team, with "how much fun can we cram into this pack" instead of "how little can we get away with for this price". Maybe that's cynic of me but we've had a lot of lackluster broken packs now. But we got a kettle, so I guess it's all good 😅 (really tho, been waiting for that for aaages!)
I feel like this pack doesn’t have enough content to be an expansion pack, but I’m still excited to be honest. I’m going to get so much use out of the rental residential lots. I already have so many gameplay ideas.
Off topic but my stickers just arrived from Lunar Isle and I love them!!! Really appreciate the free Xmas stickers too and the lovely handwritten note, thank you so much!! 💜💜💜 Everybody needs to go and order these stickers, they're so good!
You have no idea how much JOY I got from the kettle (also in the game :D) - I'm Finnish, living in UK and I've always been more of a tea girl than a coffee girl. This was NEEDED.
before rewatching from the beginning, I was responding to someone on insta and zoned back in at the "is it just me or are the toilets just no where" and I cracked up laughing knowing which toilets were in this pack hdhd I imagined her looking everywhere but the floor
This world map and some world elements look like it’s a combo of copy/pasted elements from the Growing Together world and High School Years world! I am stunned by the lack of vision.
My family is Trinidadian and moved to America before I was born. We converted to the microwaving, its lowkey easier to control the temperature. My grandma used to do the kettle on the stove, then when hers went through, we started using electric kettle. We still have an electric kettle though because some thing we prefer to use the microwave and others we prefer the kettle
Omg i always loved the lil tune at the end of your videos and assumed it was something custom but i shazammed it on the off chance it was an actual song and i found it!! Love ittt
I'm grateful I've found Loading Screen CC. Pair it with a CC Plumbob color of your choice and it helps a lot. You can get holiday themed ones, fandom ones, just art you like. You can only have one in your game at any given time (sadly it can't cycle) but you can swap them out before opening the Sims 4.
We need a video with the parents now that we have the kettle, cos every video I’ve seen with them they’re complaining (rightfully) about the lack of kettle
I feel like the cringey and nosy traits would’ve gone better with the Get Together pack since that was about socialization. It seems like Sims developers just throw whatever they have in the packs and it doesn’t always make much sense with the theme. I guess For Rent is more centered on Young Adults because apartments like in City Living but still it’d be nice if they updated their old packs more instead which they’re supposed to that’s why they’re all stagnent prices whether they came out a month or seven years ago.
Microwaved water comes out exactly the same. I have an electric kettle and honestly prefer the microwave unless I’m making multiple cups (and I never am)

YES THIS
Those ideas would've been so coollll😮😮
I was thinking the same. Forgotten Hollows has literally one of the same boarded up mines like the ones in the desert world. Why can you open and explore one or them and not the other? Lazyness I'm afraid...
I am pissed that there’s no hidden worlds anymore. They’re my favorite thing
I think they mentioned a good while back that the secret worlds didn't get used a lot.
it's so crazy to me that sims 4 can't do what sims 2 did nearly 20 years ago which is not having loading screens when visiting sims in the same apartment building
Honestly that send me over the edge and back to playing the sims 2 again 😂
I don’t understand when people are going to finally get that the sims 4 ENGINE IS ALSO OLD -_- and it doesn’t work the same like the other engines
So they scammed us.
Don’t want loading screens? Play in one household with all the sims 🙄
This is so on point. And sad, I’m almost mad at this point.
I feel like they even underuse rabbitholes, especially in HSY. I don't wanna go to every prom or after-school activity. I don't want to go to every graduation. I don't want to constantly have to follow one sim when I have a large family to look after

@@WelcomeApathy, expansion packs with no worlds are usually pretty expansive, with lots of features and content to make up for it. From what I'm seeing, not only does For Rent not have an expansion pack worth of features and content, it also has a small world.

It was said like 10000+ times why in the sims 4 engine this can't work
@@letsgo1572lol it can and I'm willing to wait and see who mods it in first, now that EA has set up a proper basis for apartments.

@@thaloblue you're absolutely right.
Its crazy that we got three well developed in depth worlds in one pack in TS3 and now we get one tiny town full of rabbit holes

Yes!! I forget the name of the pack now but you could run resorts in Sims 3 and it was so fun!

@@WelcomeApathywhen did he say that thing about women wasting their husband’s money?

That's why you pirate any game EA makes. They are no longer the EA of 2003, all they care about is money - and if people pay $40-50 for a buggy/empty pack, why would they make anything else? People whine, then pay for it anyways. Even buying it on sale, they make a profit!
Did you copy and paste this on multiple videos
@@perfectblueeeee
I feel like people are more upset that they bothered including a world that's about as large as a game pack. Like if you deleted the Get to Work world tomorrow I wouldn't notice because it's tiny and it sucks. If you're gonna make a world, make it a world! That's why people love the Cottage Living, City Living, and Cats & Dogs worlds. They're a decent size and have stuff to do.
plus it doesnt help u cant create ur own worlds like u could in 2 and (i think) 3
@@perfectblueeeee its because theres literally nothing there babe, if you're going to make a world at least make it worth players' time, otherwise just flesh out the gameplay more. But instead we get mediocre gameplay and a mediocre world because they just couldn't use their resources cleverly enough
I really miss being able to place my own lots around a world, these worlds are way too small!
I really can't believe that they went this route with sims 4! It was _ok_ in sims 1 but this is unacceptable to me in a modern sims game

The kettle edit at 28:50 had me happy. As a South African ,seeing a kettle in this pack was a huge plus point for this pack.

@@letsgo1572growing together literally breaks my game and laundry day pack when added.....
we do have one (and and a half if you count the few buildings in eco lifestyle) city pack, but we also have about ten very rural worlds and fifteen suburban ones. this and hopefully more/better city worlds in the future are *definitely* needed
I’d like to see more non-American cities especially! We got a (very small) British one with the university pack, but it’d be fun to see one based on like Paris or Tokyo or Hong Kong or something.
"RIP Lizzie you woulda loved this pack babe" took me outtttt
I really appreciate your pack reviews, always so honest and unbiased while being fun to watch.
That kettle edit was the most dramatic thing ever but also perfectly appropriate somehow🤣
I literally thought the whole point of this pack was to have neighbors without loading screens. Literally pointless. I wonder if modders can fix it? I can't wait for the next life sim game to actually release...I want a game that's actually immersive.
I really, really hope modders can fix it. I was so excited for this pack :(
That was just something people like you made up. I never once for a second expected there not to be loading screens
I love that the sims is adding more “grocery stores” in the packs! It adds more realism for me
I actuallt love that there is a kid specific activity for once
I was thinking about buying the pack at launch but after seeing this video, I'll wait for a sale. Thanks!
Same here.
“Knot. Knot? Knot.” AO3 logo 😂 lol Jesse you’re just like us ahaha I see you
Yours are the only sims reviews I trust
Sims 4 releases a separate pack for building apartments.
Meanwhile Sims 2 including this (plus being able to straight up visit your neighbors without loading screens) in Apartment Life along with so much more content than For Rent and City Living combined.
Disappointed by the small world but convinced to get it by the addition of builder's tea 😂
I really love Jesse's sparkling eyeshadow ❤
I was really looking forward to this world because I really want more worlds that aren't based off America and to a degree England (we have enough now imo). So while it's gorgeous, I'm sad to see how small it is.
I hope Twisted Mexi finishes their Create-a-World mod soon, I need someone to clone this world but make it bigger with bigger lots. TuT
And as always, thank you for your truly honest reviews and not glossing over any of the issues with packs.
IT FELT MUCH MORE EVEN apart from full body outfits LOL i think masculine frames get **one**
i dont think city living and discover uni have no value comparing to for rent tho, city living is the only metropolis centered world and... its just plain stupid to compare university pack with apartments. people still buy them anyway and no fucking way ea would let good packs slide away for free
This world and items are so beautiful. I just desperately need more. This is an expansion pack, not a game pack. Give us moreeeee
Thank you for the detailed review, Jesse. I must say, you're one of the few creators who actually reviews critically and honest.
I am mainly so excited to build a home for a multi-generational family!! I'm glad the rent portion works the way it does
With secrets, they could have added things like "secretly hates *random sim*" or "has a crush on", "is jealous of", etc. That way sims relationships will have an extra layer.
as a southeast asian this pack still needs more
Secrets could have totally worked like Sims 2 gossip.
I don't think James has put out an honest Sims review since 3 was coming out.
or maybe ppl opinions differ from yours 💀
@@wallacejames221😂
Kayla is just selling stuff to us at this point, sadly. James is... I don't know. He hasn't sold out, but he's also not really a normal simmer anymore.
I go for Kayla when I want blind optimism, Satchonsims when I want bitchy reality, and Jessie when I want a nice honest middle ground.
Disappointed by this - it seems we are getting less and less with expansion packs. The world is so small - I do want this pack but I will be waiting until it's half the price.
i feel like this pack is annoying as it feels so empty and lacking. yeah the new flats seem awesome and i wanna get it for that and the asian inspired world and objects are so cool. but $40 for this? it doesnt seem worth it for a tiny map and content. i wish theyd released the lot building as a City living refresh ):
jesse you're wild for that AO3 sign after saying knot 💀
The 28:11 edit is AMAZING and I love it. And I'm horrified at the microwaved-water intel. That's news to me. Shook. Absolutely shook.
Thank you for the quality content, Plumbella. You're my absolute favourite sims tuber. Never stop being you, your authenticity is wonderful.
I feel like the loading screen between rooms just defeats the appeal of having all your renters on one lot.
Honestly the concept of mold makes it really realistic as a person that lives in a tropical climate!
That breaking news segment with lizzie was so GOD DAMN FUNNY OH MY GOD
Yeah 100%!!!
I was not expecting Her Majesty to be a jump scare 🤣
As soon as I saw that kettle I saw “aw Jessie will be chuffed”
I will forever love the Sims 3 for it's open world.. Sims 4 with all the loading screens is a huge step back
My family is Trinidadian and moved to America before I was born. We converted to the microwaving, its lowkey easier to control the temperature. My grandma used to do the kettle on the stove, then when hers went through, we started using electric kettle. We still have an electric kettle though because some thing we prefer to use the microwave and others we prefer the kettle
I love your review... the good, the bad, the ugly. Also, your sweatshirt is awesome!!! Thanks for tagging it in the comments. You slay!
Omg i always loved the lil tune at the end of your videos and assumed it was something custom but i shazammed it on the off chance it was an actual song and i found it!! Love ittt
Love how you introduced the kettle😂😂 love your videos!!
A pack featuring Martial arts dojo's would great for our sims to different Martial arts styles and the ability to build them too
The kettle scene is the best cinema I've seen all year. Hats off to ya
