Can't wait to see what modders do to this mechanic but that says it all, doesn't it? That grim reaper lover letter of a secret sounds like my vibe in the early 2000s though. I was in tears laughing at that 😂
You should be able to choose a secret for your sim like we used to be able to choose fatal flaws. Then there wouldn't be gameplay complications with setting up secrets for each iconic townie.
I feel they should of made 5 secrets for each personality trait in game that are shocking for that trait like romantic had a secret affair once or daydream about the wrong thing or a snob who secretly loves animal crackers but thinks it's beneath them and then added like 3 secrets for each potential career in the game and a sim could only have 3 secrets at a time like a uni teacher who failed his student cause he was annoying, or a writer who stole another writer's work - that would of felt contextual and relevant instead of these randomly generated secrets. It would of been one unique sims has the potential to have 18 different secrets but only has 3 and another unique sims could have a pool of 18 completely different secrets.I'm starting to understand the "this is a game pack, not an expansion pack" criers
I don't play Sims 4 but isn't this a weirder way to replicate gossiping from 2? Like there sims would share embarrassing secrets from other Sims they know like infdelity or pissing themselves, and that made sense because the secrets have actually happened
I love the idea that, from Eliza’s perspective, this random sim comes over and just interrogated her for literally hours about all her secrets and then left to murder someone else
I feel like an extremely easy way to do secrets better for the rando sims without putting much more effort is to just limit secrets to 3-5 per sim, and the same secret cannot be applied to any sim twice until the whole list is exhausted, then it resets. ie: there's 20 secrets (random number), and the first sim is applied Sinking Feeling, so that would make that specific secret out of the rotation for all other sims until the other 23 secrets have been used.
If you reread his secret closely he said he lost a COWBOY HAT, not a cowboy. I think it was a reference to the Sims 2 DS port. Grim's a cowboy-ghost-mummy thing in that game and instead of reaping people he kidnaps them in a burlap sack since your sim can't actually die in that game. The most obvious reference in his secret is to the Sims Medieval. What's interesting is that in that game he wears red, has wings, has long hair, and seemingly still has flesh. The Sims 4 is the only mainline Sims game where the Grim Reaper still has flesh, so linking it to the Sims Medieval was a pretty nice detail. Plus, the Sims 4 Grim's robe shares the more general design elements to that game's Grim compare to plain black robe and skeleton hands the other games' Grims had going for them.
Clearly nothing aimed at the TH-camrs - but every time we hear ‘what you see isn’t the final version’ .. we know that it’s the final version right? Even if there’s a day one patch. We KNOW they don’t care if it releases broken - My Wedding Stories is enough of an example and that was after they ‘fixed’ it. And I mean…Dine out is dead in the water
Yea, definitely. And I think Jesse is on our team as well; the resignation in her voice when she said that spoke volumes. "I am contactionally obligated to say this but we all know it's BS". Was how it read to me anyway but that's just my opinion and not facts 😅
You know if we can find secrets by going trough trash of a neighbor or like looking in their postal box or watching them in the telescope, or gossip, or hacking? Things like that. And if we can learn stuff in the Strangerville story by snooping arround? Would like to have some cross pack functions like that.
So I’m a modder and I’m taking a peak at the coding for how secrets get assigned and THEY FULLY HAD THE CAPABILITY to make it so that things like traits or a sims home neighborhood the secrets sims get but instead all they did was make it so that animals and babies (and the grim reaper except for his one special secret) don’t get any secrets attached to them.
I wonder if the flower bunny and santa and sims like that have secrets like grim's. Also it would be kind of fun to *make* the secrets be lore. Like have a snooping sim and when they find out something, go give that sim the appropriate game play. If it's a grilled cheese secret, have them do that, or if they love grim, let them marry him. Or if they hate willow creek, they're not allowed to go there or interact with any of the sims that live in willow creek. Could be a fun kind of challenge.
When you have full gameplay maybe you can ask people like bonhilda and agnes crumplebottom! I bet her long lost husband from the ranch pack might have juicy secrets too

I agree, a lot of secrets should be dependent upon where that Sim is actually living. Not just the world, but the actual neighbourhood. After all, Sims living in one of the starter home of Oasis Spring and one living next to the Landgraabs should have radically experiences. Then, for Sims that moved from a world to another one, the secrets from their original residence should stay, and those from the new place should trickle in over time.
I wonder if any of the expansion npc's will have specific secrets like Grim? i.e. Father Winter having a secret about where he gets his gifts, stuff like that
I really wish we could make a Community Project out of this or something with a modder. Like people are writing Secrets for traits or even some Default Sims (Like Eliza) and someone does a mod to get it Info the game. I would Love that. But i bet it would be to much Work in the end to even sort out the ideas.
So aparently there's a secret about an abandoned dog, Smeagie, and THAT one at least is based on a Sims meme. You need to make an entire history of Smeagie now!
As an avid Crusader Kings fan, I'd wager that this new mechanic is more than a little influenced by that series of games; particularly CKIII. Sort of a trading influence thing given that the CK games lift more than a few mechanics from the Sims. However the Sims could have definitely benefited from copying more than just the basic format, secrets in CK are procedurally generated- however they're based on a character's personality, memories and relationship to other characters. Also there are a few instanced secrets for characters in each start date, in CK's case they're limited by actual history since that's the "lore" for any historical grand strategy game; however in the Sims they had the opportunity to get really creative with the instanced secrets and evidently squandered it. The tone a lot of the secrets have definitely makes sense for a series like the Sims, I wouldn't expect it to get as dark and dramatic as CK secrets- those games really don't pull any punches in that regard. I like the idea on paper, it's just weird that they seemingly copied the idea but not the finer mechanical points of it's implementation. Hopefully this gets some work in future, but damn if that doesn't feel like a tired refrain at this point- we're still waiting on some previously implemented half-baked mechanics to be fully fleshed out so I won't hold my breath.

Once again i got excited for a pack just for it to be shallow 🥴
9:44 - 9:53 * *pigeons be like* *
I don't play Sims 4 but isn't this a weirder way to replicate gossiping from 2? Like there sims would share embarrassing secrets from other Sims they know like infdelity or pissing themselves, and that made sense because the secrets have actually happened
Yes! They were tied to the memory system! It worked so well
I think they should have done secrets for different traits, living in different places, different ages, etc.... SOME effort maybe
I love the idea that, from Eliza’s perspective, this random sim comes over and just interrogated her for literally hours about all her secrets and then left to murder someone else
4:52 ok Oliver Specter calm down
I feel like an extremely easy way to do secrets better for the rando sims without putting much more effort is to just limit secrets to 3-5 per sim, and the same secret cannot be applied to any sim twice until the whole list is exhausted, then it resets. ie: there's 20 secrets (random number), and the first sim is applied Sinking Feeling, so that would make that specific secret out of the rotation for all other sims until the other 23 secrets have been used.
Omg the cowboy Grim lost was Robert Crumplebottom, Agnes’ “deceased” husband!
@@MegaNightcore101 aww man! That woulda been cool lol
I wonder if Father Winter and the Flower Bunny will have their own secrets too??
Nova hintet that ther ar speciel secretd
@@indedgames4359 what?
I wonder if Bonehilda and Guidry have secrets 🤔 probably not lol
Or Yamachan
lmao of course not
imagine the secrets mechanic but with sims 2 milestones 😭
You know if we can find secrets by going trough trash of a neighbor or like looking in their postal box or watching them in the telescope, or gossip, or hacking? Things like that. And if we can learn stuff in the Strangerville story by snooping arround? Would like to have some cross pack functions like that.
17:36 that laugh is genetic, huh.
We love a friend with strong opinions on Disney channel TV shows
6:44 Eliza is a very troubled woman
That’s so raven…it’s the future I can see…that’s so raven…it’s so mysterious to me…
God that was bop
truly cannot wait for the sims competition coming out next year, this is so low quality...
jesse casually saying the little mermaid steals mens’ legs is sending me, do u truly believe that or are u just the funniest person alive
I mean their laziness doesn’t surprise me but it also means I know damn well modders will have this shit fixed in about five seconds
Sha Noop is the best name ever lol
Edit: I love that they have one about Smeagie lol
Love that in the one about snooping and breaking and entering, there was some karma and jessie was snooped on
I wonder if the flower bunny and santa and sims like that have secrets like grim's.
It's good that you made that clarification for legal reasons. Wouldn't want to risk getting sued by tigers and lions for defamation
I might make the secrets not random by getting the sims in question to start doing things in line with what they’ve said.
“Is that really what my hair looks like from the back??” vibes
Girl the first secret i got was a sim being a secret arsonist who silently hoped their food catches on fire so they can see the flames 😭😭😭😭
Omg that mod, girl u saved my life. I needed this
When you have full gameplay maybe you can ask people like bonhilda and agnes crumplebottom! I bet her long lost husband from the ranch pack might have juicy secrets too
Loved this video! This made me miss the console sims games with mysteries and missions hidden in everything. I wish I still had my gba sims bustin out
Your sister coming in at the end had me in stitches!! Best thing I've seen in ages!! Thank you, lol! And also glad to see she's doing better! ❤ Merry Christmas to you both and your whole famfam 🎄🎅😁
the little mermaid plot revision got mw hyperventilating girl you can't keep doing this 😭😭
not to comment on an off topic moment in the first two minutes but That's So Raven is literally everything to me. I forgot how much I used to watch it until I rewatched a couple years ago, it truly did so much to shape both my humor and speech patterns!
EA makes so much money. They can pay people to write lore specific secrets to every pre-made sim in the game.
More lore?! LORE IS LOVE!!! Plumbella continues to serve us content!
THANK YOU FOR THE PIE MENU MOD REC OH MY GODDDDD
You brighten my day every time u upload Plumbella! Keep going!
1:14 YOURE RIGHT AND YOU SHOULD SAY IT AND OH MY GOOOOOD THE THATS SO RAVEN TOO CD IS SOME OF THE GREATEST MUSIC EVER CREATED! SOME CALL IT MAGIC (B.F.F. REMIX)?? ID LIKE TO SEE SOMEONE TRY TO DO BETTER
I was not prepared for geralt at the start hahah im so happy you like witcher 3. Sims 2, 3, and witcher 3 tied for best games ever?? Possibly
Your Little Mermaid tangent literally almost killed me. Nearly sucked an M & M down my throat laughing so hard. 🤣🤣
I agree, a lot of secrets should be dependent upon where that Sim is actually living. Not just the world, but the actual neighbourhood. After all, Sims living in one of the starter home of Oasis Spring and one living next to the Landgraabs should have radically experiences. Then, for Sims that moved from a world to another one, the secrets from their original residence should stay, and those from the new place should trickle in over time.
the more lore, the better the pack imo
random flavour text is not lore 😪😪
Ur video titles are magnetic girlie 🫶🏻
Your voice is my ASMR!!! ... I don't know why but when I go to bed I put you on and your voice just soothes me!! ❤😂
Nah, Jesse. The back of your head is none of your business, babe. Keep slayin x
Plumbella in x2 speed is a religious experience
I wonder if this secrets business will have any link to the bug planting in Strangerville
Cross pack compatibility? In the Sims? Next you'll be asking for basic features not being locked behind a paywall!
Gosh I wish my energy was on your level Jess!
Don't be suspicious DON'T BE SUSPICIOUS!
A way of living 💀😭 bro destroyed Bob Pancakes
I wonder if any of the expansion npc's will have specific secrets like Grim? i.e. Father Winter having a secret about where he gets his gifts, stuff like that
They shoulda let plumbella write the lore in the secrets
Geralt blessing our screens at the beginning ❤
Oh snap! me and plumbella are on the same wave! rewatching That’s So Raven rn
As someone who loves The Witcher, every reference makes me giggle painfully
Slim Shady Plumbella made my heart sing
I really live your channel because you’re so funny and passionate about the game
I wounder if Bonehilda has secrets hmmm
11:50 did Grim just hint at a Sims 4 medieval pack? Or was it a reference to TSM since he's in TSM as well lol?
I really wish we could make a Community Project out of this or something with a modder. Like people are writing Secrets for traits or even some Default Sims (Like Eliza) and someone does a mod to get it Info the game. I would Love that. But i bet it would be to much Work in the end to even sort out the ideas.
can't wait for more videos about new lore from my favourite Lore Enforcer haha
So aparently there's a secret about an abandoned dog, Smeagie, and THAT one at least is based on a Sims meme. You need to make an entire history of Smeagie now!
I'll just say: I've come back to the Sims 2 on my old PC and I'm happy
That’s so Raven was THAT show…
Missed opportunity to make a harry potter joke about the back of your hair haha
justice for smeagie 7:11
I thought it was gonna be like the secrets from the sims psp version where you had to sell the secrets and the evil doctor dominion was there. Kinda sad they didn’t bring him back 😅
It rly would be great if the premades/townies all came with preset secrets
secrets could have been crazy in the sims 2
Breakin' the lore? Can you break... what isn't there?
When you started telling Zhafira Grim was yours I started arguing with you out loud that Grim was in fact actually mine
The 🍉flag in the background is ❤🖤🤍💚
