    So. You’re making two masterpieces. A boat, and a story.

    Here you learn, that it’s not only the art of boat building but also the art of story telling. Can’t wait to see her growing up and finally sailing in to the world.

    I’ve always believed that boats come alive while being built, not after they launch.My guess is there’ll be many more night visits before she’s finished. I get the feeling that the GoPro has a mind of its own too! Take care and until next instalment happy building from the happy Aussie.

    When I build something, big or small, there are times when I feel the need to merely stop and “contemplate wood”…..it has a cathartic effect. I understand the night visits

    I watched your first 2 episodes, and I’m hooked.
    Enjoy everything about your channel, the story telling, the fact that I get so tickled watching y’all two went on about the GoPro turning on and off 😂
    But also the boat building, you guys work fast.
    However I’m upset that I’m so far behind.
    Anyway, you have another sub.
    Thank you for sharing.

    Okay I forgive you the use of another helping of epoxy. I understand the frustrations of building it up, and just when it starts looking like boat you have to take it down again.
    Two steps foreward and one step back is still progres. Wonderful atmosphere in you videos. Thank you for making them. Lookin forward to the next . Cheers Martin

    We're enjoying watching your boat-building project. Yes, they do start having a spirit and developing a character soon into the project. Keep up the good work!
    By the way, there's a setting on your GoPro that you can change so your screen on the back doesn't go black if you don't want it to, but that uses up more power to have the screen on all the time.

    your videos are just a real pleasure to watch. I say that as someone who has built a couple of boats (stitch and glue) and works in television. There is some really nice storytelling here. Do you have a television background?

    Myself and friend Steve are building a 18’ clinker motor launch, larch on oak. In my Exmouth workshop and construction is in a friend garden. It’s the upside down method and not too long before we turn the boat over.
    Good luck with yours it’s a lot of head scratching

    I'm going to get rid of my old pegboard that's been annoying me for ages and replace it with your 'kick the old wedge into the leg vice'-method. I can't understand why I never thougt of doing that, considering how I kick things around my workshop pretty much constantly. 😊

    If you look out across the water one day and see a boat that is upside down, how do you tell if it is a normal boat that has capsized, or if it is one of those boats that was built upside down?

    Being from antopides don’t recognise table wood? You have nice chisels and sharp to!

    • @daleskidmore1685
      @daleskidmore1685 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am pretty sure the table top is Aformosa. It is used for science lab bench tops. I used some for a bathroom sink surround. It is very rot resistant. Also good for guitar necks and bodies of electrics.

    • @Mister_G
      @Mister_G 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wondered if the table was Iroko - I had a few lab bench tops and that was what we though they were.

    • @jonsealwoodturning4673
      @jonsealwoodturning4673  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      THanks for your comment. Yes we do and we have built a wooden boat and restored another before. My first boat was a coracle which is really easy to make and very traditional www.coraclesociety.org.uk/ If you want to learn how to build boats, this place is fantastic boatbuildingacademy.com/?gclid=CjwKCAiAkp6tBhB5EiwANTCx1H-Scs2AK4ADvYy4tSNAw_mfVQqEvJPugKUqKDseMzj7lgJVqW7b0xoCpIgQAvD_BwE They run short courses of one week and they also offer scholarships. Have a look and dream! Good luck!
