@@cianbarrett6443 I thought that too at first but remember a conjurer has to train to summon specific objects and kurapika wouldn't have had the time to train and practice conjuring a shovel.
Phantom troupe really shines through because of the little moments like Uvogin kissing shalnark on the cheek, Shizuku just forgetting to use her dominant hand and Phinks getting slapped after trying to bluff to Kurapika
their friendship, the arm wrestling competition and dope slap moments really did a great job of showing that while they are killers that wont quit until the job is done they still are humans that can be rather funny.
Le J what I find hilarious is that the “Shadow Beasts” that fought Uvo only lasted as long as they did (which wasn’t really that long in all honesty) because they paralyzed him.
With regard to the Shadow Beasts... I liked how they were crushed by Uvo, so as to show off his and the Troupe’s power, but watching it again with my brother he was disappointed in their abilities for not seeming like they’d be powerful enough to be top picks for the mafia as well as just disliking their abilities and character designs. I never really thought about it before as I just took it for what it was intended but I have to admit they were pretty lame. Logically, I can see why they wouldn’t necessarily be that strong but considering the expectations set by the narrative before their appearance they were a little underwhelming. I’m not saying it’s a huge deal, I still love the York New arc because of the PT as well as our lovable protagists, because it is logically plausible that they wouldn’t be spectacular when considering that the hunter exam shows how few even know what nen is, and heaven’s arena shows how the few that know of it (only on floor 200+) are usually underneath even Shadow Beast standards. Add to those reasons the fact that many hunters do not use nen combatively/violently (some specialize in cooking, others in medicine, archeology and excavation, treasure hunting, intel gathering, hunting relatively unintelligent animals, etc.) nor do they all face off against other nen users/hunters, making basic nen users effective in such scenarios. Finally, the most hunters, especially powerful ones, likely don’t need to work for the mafia to make money (at best, they’re contracted like the Zoldycks).
My man Kurapika brought a shovel to bury the beast Uvogin and plus The Phantom Troupe owning Yorknew city while that ominous music is playing gives me chills just thinking about it

I love Yorknew City so much because not only does Kurapika get catapulted to badass status, but this arc dunks Gon and Killua headfirst into the world of nen users and what it is to function in it. They go from these hyper-competent kids who can overcome just about any struggle to two greenhorns largely in over their heads, who only manage to keep said heads thanks to the talents that made them broken and OP up to this point.
Stephen Bly no doubt, I am comparing them in terms of what the arcs meant for the authors: turning points in their way of storytelling and achievement of the identities of their mangas. love these reviews. fills the void awaiting more hxh to come out :D perhaps first time since finding these reviews I would have to say I disagree completely with one point made. that the detailed description of the minor auctions was out of place or dragged down the momentum. something I actually find really really impressive about how Togashi writes hxh is this incredible world building ability. and we are not just talking about having a large "map". some shows may have the main characters travel around to various places but you dont really get any development of those places or side characters and you only see stuff that relates to the main characters. I actually like it that there are characters in this show that clearly have a well thought out "life" beyond what is "relevant" to the main characters. doesn't matter to me that all this auction stuff is essentially never used by Gon/Killua. it consumes the interest of certain hunters and an enhanced glimpse into these cracks and crevices of the many different locations and events that the main characters pass through actually makes this story/world far more interesting! I hope Togashi continues to throw in these tid bits of "random" information and develop these minor characters even if we only see them for a fleeting moment in the story. :)
agree with your praise of various aspects of this arc but one thing I have strong memories of, having read this in real time weekly publication in shonen jump was the rampant cutting and pasting of artwork as well as occasionally straight up publishing a rough draft sketch chapter and touching up the art later in the bound volume. at the time it really didn’t seem to meet the minimum professional standard of being a manga author and it’s unfortunate that that’s what I remember so prominently considering there’s so much to like, particularly regarding the phantom troupe
The ending of the arc was cool/funny too they see the two phantom troupe members at the auction and book it lmao Then finks was telling them about how nen being help up inside you can end up fucking you up and feitan is just looking at him like “-.-“ and he replies with “oh im saying too much” its great

In all seriousness if the others ended up in the auction hall and Illumi didn't kill the 10 Dons. How do you think that would play out? Xeno, Kurapika and Silva vs the entire Phantom Troupe?
Those 3 easily... but i think Zeno will die due to not enough strength or getting sacrificed for a kill blow from Silva. Safe to Assume that Silva and Zeno will handle Feitan, Chrollo & Nobunaga Kurapika will kill off the others. The copy and mummy one i think will not join the fight.

mine too! the auction was such a good side plot it was very interesting.
I prefer yorknew over chimera cause it kept me engaged from stars to end ,chimera is still a masterpiece but to me it just felt a little bit streched out
Bhadke? Whats youre Nen-Type, i wonder?
I thought they couldn't top the way the end music starts when hizoka gets punched by gon ooh was I wrong. Kraupika just blew the lid off and the arc brings more darkness and readies viewers for coming carnage of Chimeraarc
Franklin, the voice of reasons.
Which one of your video series is your favourite to make? (Including grandlinereview as well)
Could you make a video on the Buddhist logic undergirding HXH?
When Uvogin kisses Shalnark I yelled “GAYYYYYYYYYY”
I'll always remember this arc by Squala's death :( It hit me even harder than Paku's.
it was really cool of him though to make sure his dogs got away safe before he fought them. Respect Squala
Squalas death was so sad, I think what hit me the hardest was Pakus. She was so loyal to her group of people that she ended her own life. It really just hit me in my heart.
You should do a theory video on what the dark continent knows about the human world
A lot of Hatsu flex in this arc and that is what I am all about.
Is Pakunoda a specialist?
UVO GOT STOMPED
My favourite arc
Diablo II is my all-time favorite game, and in 2022 I have a master save with all Items for Resurrected and Legacy. It's downloadable and I would send it to you if you want
Hunter Hunter is a very good anime I was literally crying when it ended
im writing a manga script and i wanted to make a series to satisfi Berserk and HxH fans,as you all know these masterpieces have, not the best release dates,my manga is inspired by Berserk and HxH and if it ever gets into chapter format, will you do a video about it?
i will do the HxH and Berserk inspiration justice!
Good luck but seem kinda hard to do because both HxH and Berserk are top tier when it comes to manga
@@smokinpumpkin3173 i know, thats why it took me 3 years, with 4 failed works, this one,Crimson heir, has a lot of potential and i have been writing it for 1 and a half years,i just wanted to make something, first i was like''if berserk and HxH are going to leave me with a hole in my chest i guess ill fill that hole up with my own work''so right now i have 83 full pages worth of script, first part is 83 and the precuel backstory is 42.if you ask me my script has the power system not as good as HxH but pritty darn close, the world building of HxH,and the feel and the tone on Berserk,in not copying but you could tell that i was kined of inspiered by those 2 masterpieces, along side HP Lovecraft, and some Gothic arcitecture trown in the mix
Oh god yes please
@@JaswiL-_51 only reason it's not a manga yet is because I'm trying to get better at drawing, that the part that's taking so damn long
grandline/newworldreview what do you think of the shonen jump crossover games and can you tell me the reasons why you like/dislike them and what you want in the next one?
Yorknew City Arc is 22 eps in 2011 and 26 eps in 1999? Only 4 eps difference yet 1999 version really nail this arc... much more than 2011. Both are great though, it’s Hunter x Hunter anyway, what do you expect? It always be good
Probably my favorite Arc
I didn't like Karpika at all from the beginning. The Sasuke parallels made me gross out. But, his revenge won't get convoluted because it is finite. I enjoyed the use of his story.
fuck now i wanna go rewatch HxH for the 10th time
