I recently bought a 2010 V7 with 4350 miles on the clock, it's now just done 5000 miles. Before going out yesterday I noted a spray pattern on the rear rim, looks like the hub seal has given up. Went for a quick test ride and noticed fresh dips of oil when I stopped, so came back and wiped it again and went back out and got some fuel. No more drips or spray - dry as a bone. Took it for a ride and all was good for the first 15 miles then the small spray pattern appeared. Can't decide if the seal is in the process of going, but intermittent or if it's a blocked breather. Either way it's off to the dealer in a weeks time for MOT and valve check so they will have to look then.
Before you send it to a dealer just check that the breather on the hub (17mm nut with dome cap above) is clear. Sounds as though maybe pressure is building in hub as it gets hot. Are they Guzzi people? I f not, learn how to check/adjust the valve clearance yourself, you'll sleep better!
@@MrBillgiles Thanks for the reply! Will do. Yes they are a Guzzi dealership. I have looked at doing the valves myself and it seems pretty straight forward but I'd like to keep the official service record up to date - it's a 90th anniversary cafe classic.
@@MrBillgiles update - I checked the breather which felt blocked when I tried huffing through it, so cleaned it out and could puff through without issue. Took it for a quick spin and worked up some speed and no sign of any splash. Weather not so good so will wait and see, but a big thanks! If you'd like to see my Guzzi, check out my new vids. I was hoping to hear yours running in your last video - perhaps in the next one?
Appreciate you produced this video some time ago but I am researching the lubrication requirements for a drive shaft on a small block Guzzi. Gearbox and bevel assembly are part of the oil change regime but what lubrication and frequency would you suggest for the drive shaft connections? I read somewhere it should be some sort of grease but have no more details. Any ideas most welcome. Thanks Paul in UK
@@chickenstripfilms916 OK, I had to watch this to remind myself of what I had done. Yes I took it apart by gripping the splines in a vice with aluminium soft jaws to stop damage and added in a shim. But I can't remember the details of reassembly. I will check the manual to see if it prods my memory.
Not sure if you mean the rubber boot on the drive shaft. If that has been destroyed then perhaps the shaft coupling exploded and is no longer working. Put a little video to show the problem on your channel to show the problem.

Very clean, Mr Bill
Mi hermano!
Just to let you know, the spring takes up the length,so that the cardan does not make noise.
Serious the shims comes in thickness from 0,1 mm -1 mm
And you will need to adjust both wheel.
Could you create a playlist of all your Guzzi videos?
'Tis done, this mere thing.
@@MrBillgiles you rock! I have a 2016 V7 II, and want to make sure I don’t miss any of the Guzzi videos that you shared. Thanks so much.

Hi Paul, I'd use a smear of lithium grease but I'll look back and see if I can find any mention of what is recommended.
@@MrBillgiles thank you.
Love your videos, did you make a video on replacing the shims in the pinion?
No, I didn't do much in the rear drive box other than inspect. Was it the drive box you were referring to?
@@MrBillgilesbill gives thanks for the reply, at 6:57 you mention there shouldn't be any play, did you manage to fix that?

Please what happens when that small black robber cover for the Gear Box remove. My own remove and my Bike is not spending up again
