I thought a full yapp would be great but I think you’re right, I just love the protection I read the yapp offers. The cost does make it impossible for most, my goodness, stunning!
I have the black pearl goat skin with silver guilt and blue ribbons and it’s a daily reader for me now. This was my first NLT and I purchased Tyndale’s NLT study Bible at the same time. The difference in quality is of course night and day. I hate having to buy Chinese Bibles, but in cheap Bibles these days one has a little choice. It is an expedition with the Tyndale To unstick the pages with their gilt Without damaging them. Not so this amazing Bible. This is either my fifth or sixth Schuyler. I love them all. I am in a hospital bed for much of my day and the full yapp Combined with the extra supple construction, makes it very easy to hold while reading and lying down. I’ll bet that purple is stunning. I don’t want bright Bibles, but this is deep. Purple indicates royalty also. Best wishes to you from Texas!

Thank you Pastor Daniel. I love your videos and I especially love your love for these Bibles. You really inspire us !! My love for the Word and hunger to read it has grown through your channel. Keep posting videos ... They truly bless many ❤

I purchased 3 Bibles and one a sister sent me so (4) in totally and all of them are super thin. So I believe they changed the leather or it even feels like NO LINER AT ALL. Just my opinion and what I've been saying since last December. 😔 it's sad because you know me I love love Schuyler Bibles... mainly because of that thick leather. Ohhhh when that MMC came out even better & thicker than the Goatskin I thought for sure the Black Pearl Calfskin would be same. Nope even thinner too I have also received one for one of my girls like I mentioned it was a MMC because she's amazing and knew just how much I loved MMC leather but unfortunately that's super thin too🥺. Like you mentioned here in the video brother No 2 leather will ever be same all of these are it's sooooo weird 🤷♀️
Wow, yeah, I hear you... A couple of years ago I bought a NKJV Schuyler Quentel in grey and to my surprise the leather was thiner and softer, a bit like these that I show in this video (NLT and RSV). But I have several Bibles by Schuyler in goatskin leather with thicker leather (which I really love). And yes, I hear you with the Marbled Mahogany Calfskin, I simply love it!! I wanted to go with the Marbled Merlot for this one but I don't do FY so... I'm hoping they will have that option available in February for the NKJV 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Anyways, it's nice to hear from you, my sister 🤗 God bless you and keep you in His wonderful embrace always 🍁🙏🏽✝🦋☀
This is the one I’m ordering today. So happy to see you review it. I love Schuylers purple. It’s elegant. I also have the imperial blue NKJV. Great minds, right? I love the NLT for reading vs a study, especially in more difficult (for me) passages. Then I reread it in the NKJV or ESV and I understand it better. I hope your Thanksgiving was a good one.
Hi Gina, nice to hear from you! Yes, this is a gorgeous Bible ✝ You are blessed with good taste my sister 😄I had a wonderful thanksgiving with family and friends! God is very good 🙏🏽 May you receive continual blessings from Jesus in His Word 🙏🏽
@@abc-wv4in I also have an imperial blue NKJV! It’s my most used Schuyler! My ESV is next. I have been reading my NLT & NIV lately as I read thru the OT. I’m weak in the OT so I’m reading those first.
Beautiful Bible, thank you for your review pastor. With the 10 point font, would you say it compares in thickness to the RSV Quentel? Also Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Just ordered this in full yapp. I am more of a literal guy but I figured this would be better for the family reading as it’s more thought for thought. I’m thinking either ESV or KJV next in the Tuscany
Where did you buy it? I can't seem to find this bible in either FY or otherwise. Only one I see in NLT is a black one in FY (but not available) and one not in FY but still only in black.
@@BibleLovingLutheran Yes it does... I love the FY goatskin myself so not sure if they just have a very low stock now but will be releasing a bunch more later or if this is it for awhile... thx
Thank you for this very good review. Your Bible looks a lot less purple than the photos of this Bible on the Schuyler website. If I was sure it looks like yours looks I would get it. I’m worried that it’s bright purple like the photo. Thoughts?
Thank you for your kind words. I've owned several purple Bibles by Schuyler and still have two. They are all dark like the one you see here, but this dark purple is not available in the NLT right now. The one you see there is the regalis purple, and that one is definitely bright purple, not the one you see here. I hope this helps!
I love the Quentels, but yours looks brown on my laptop screen. My ESV PSQ in "dark purple" looks brown, too, in all kinds of light. I'd love to have a true purple Schuyler.
This is a dark purple and it does look purple to me, not brown. Schuyler just came out with a more bright purple though... Perhaps you will prefer that one.
@@crucified4me yes, thank you . Know better investment then the Word of God . And everyone is different as far as preferences. As long as it ministers to the individual .thank you for the review insight .this dark Purple is a beautiful bible I just would love to have they color in the ESV as you mentioned .
Schuyler Bibles are among the best Bibles on the market right now, so I think you are making an excellent purchase that will last you for many years if you treat it nicely. Since they are a bit pricy I would choose the translation that I use the most. The ESV and the NLT are both great translations but they are very different. The NLT is a thought for thought translation and the ESV a more literal, word for word, translation. For mere devotional reading the NLT is amazing, in my view, and to compare with other translations, making the Biblical text come alive. But if you want a Bible for deep study, I would go with the ESV, rather than the NLT. My main translation in English is the NKJV, but love and respect the ESV, NASB and CSB as good and solid translations as well. I hope this helps! Blessings to you 🙏🏽
@@crucified4me I’m an evangelist that has always used NKJV but after 20+ years of using it I’m ready for something else. NLT seems to be speaking to me powerfully right now. I don’t really like the ESV. I had one for a week and got rid of it lol.
@@mattburris257 I get it my brother 🤗 I tried the ESV several times and just couldn’t do it either 😄 I love it, but can’t use it as my main. I love the NLT too and since you have that background I think you should be fine. I heard that the full yapp Schuylers NLT had some issues so I would go with the regular yapp. I hope you love it my friend and keep sharing Jesus with the many ✝️🤗
I have both, and I'd go with the ESV. I want a more literal translation, not a thought for thought based on a paraphrase (the Living Bible). The NLT is in "casual" English but I don't see a need for that. The ESV is very easy to understand as well. My favorite is the NKJV but I also love the NASB95 and ESV. I'm not saying the NLT is "bad," but I just don't see a need for it.
Can you confirm that the NLT Schuyler is actually 1 inch thick, or is it 1.4 inches thick? I've seen conflicting information online, and the difference between the two reported sizes are drastic. I truly prefer a thinner bible, hence my question.
Hi there, I just measured my copy and it is definitely a bit over an inch, I would say around 1.2 inches without the cover and around 1.3 inches with the cover. When compared to other Bibles in the Quentel series, like the NKJV that I use as my main Bible, it is definitely thinner, but no 1 inch thin. I hope this helps!

Be honest, schuyler isn't my favorite. I really like my Thomas Nelson bibles best. I bought one because of all the hype. I'm using it And marking it up. But
First, I love the Schuylers, have quite a few, and have given some to family members. However, I recently bought a Thomas Nelson $20 NKJV so I could underline, highlight, and jot a few brief notes for study. (I don't mark in my Schuylers and Allans.). I'm very impressed by this Nelson edition and just ordered 8 more to give for Christmas gifts. I got one of the Nelsons that came out in 2020; it's dark purple Leathersoft with an embossed floral design down the left side of the cover. It is a Comfort Print 10.5 pt and an end-of-verse reference personal size Bible. It also comes in black, brown, and pink. I highly recommend it. I love my Schuylers, but if this Nelson edition was all I had I'd be very satisfied with it. Very surprised and pleased at the quality. Line matched, silver edge gilding, two nice satin ribbons, a 2K/Denmark designed type, and even a regular fountain pen doesn't bleed through to the other side of the paper. Nothing wrong with this $20 edition!
