I cant believe how many people don't understand the physics behind a vacuum in here. Placing an item in a vacuum removed the air... which creates negative spaces which are then filled by the fluid in the caintainer. When you open the container the air cannot re enter the marinated food item because the air spaces within it have been filled with brine... you soak items in marinate over time because the air inside takes time to leave... unless it's in a vacuum...
Can you provide more information on the marinade mode. How many cycles does it run? Also am I supposed to turn the knob to closed after it’s done in marinade mode?
I want to know about this too. I tried to use mine yesterday and I'm not sure how many cycles it runs. Is it two or three? I have the 5400 series model Foodsaver.
Its one cycle if your foodsaver has marinade mode use it and if it doesn't use vacuum mode and the green Dot will indent that's how you know it's working
The marinating cycle is so poorly explained by Foodsaver. I have the newest containers and each time I use the marinating function, the green dot indents, but as soon as I remove the vacuum nozzle air comes out. Is this normal? Foodsaver can't even provide a nice video showing how the marinating mode is supposed to work.
These Lids are absolute crap do not buy them I bought a set of two from Target and they are constantly losing vacuum and yes I turned the knob to vacuum. Cheap workmanship and this whole marinade knob thing makes absolutely no sense and probably why they can't hold a proper vacuum
Food saver does an awful job of explaining how the features work with all of their products

Awful description, how to you attach the pieces to the hand-held device to get it to work. Don't need another sales pitch, need instructions.

I have no idea how does this marinade mode works. How does it work? What makes it marinating in minutes instead of hours? Please explain!
And the Foodsaver FM2900 doesn't have a marinade mode but does have the manual hose. What mode do I use?
