      I thought those were some EMP or explosive darts. When I watched it I kind of thought I saw wires connected to them like a taser but no. Surely it isn't just some debrie? Don't most ships in SW have shields to protect against space crap... Especially a ship of that size? I know a lot of ships carry mines and bombs.
      Also if it is just debrie then that is top ten worse designed ships in SW if someone can just freaking depressurize some space junk at you while you're doing your job.
      Ludens ship is my new favorite. Small, agile, low key, has a turret, a launcher, and then the emitter beams... I hope the emitter beams can point bow and stern or that's just an other design flaw. Still love it though.

      I personally loved Andor but absolutely hated the Haulcraft escape. It was unnecessary complicated and more than anything illogically dumb. Laserblades on a starship make no sense. One would need to fly so very close to a ship that the risk of collision for a non jedi is massive. Luthen is no jedi (despite being very interesting and a great character). Moreover the distances in space are relatively long. The opponent has very very many shots before the other ship being in slicing range. A system that relies on the opponents not being able to aim is dumb as heck. Honestly there is nothing to justify the laserblades on the ship other than the rule of cool.
      Similarly the tractor beam part. Tractor beams have existed in the SW universe much before and during clone wars. Luthen "happens" to be so lucky to get caught up by the few that are using massive dishes to work. The counter tractor beam technology has never been on display before (fair enough Luthen is an atypically well off man with access to Coruscants finest wares). Still if the countermeasure isn't completely brand new then ships would have counter measures for them in place. Larger militaries for sure have access to technologies that Luthen does as well. They run multi quadrillion budgets in SW universe. Luthen siphons what little he can from the resistance funds.

      Yeah it's sort've a great nod to the speed of tie fighters.
      They're designed to be fast, offensive, but very weak defensively. They're designed to overwhelm with numbers - but by charging at them you have a far better chance. They also have to turn around which is generally slower.
      Shield management is normally an issue, but given the expense of this bird he probably didn't have to cycle. But by going on offense, he dictated the terms and could prepare shields - tie fighters sometimes don't even have them at all, but they know this, so you're getting full engines and full lasers from them.
      But if they have to slow down or turn, they've lost their advantage - and if they slow early, which an arrogant pilot would do, all the better for your side mounted lasers. His ship is clearly designed for this kind of engagement too.
      Great scene.
      You could unpack it for days.
      ... and it explains a whole lot about why the millennium falcon did so well. Chewie and Han keeping it together with a proper AI, and care. All of Star wars is either cheap or aging, in terms of craft.
      You don't see, "new" except for these moments. And then you need someone talented to design it - or somebody ruthless enough to buy exactly what he needs and nothing more.
      I sincerely hope they don't mess this show up.

    Usual bad Star Wars films usually portray a cast of good but weak characters, and the Empire as overpowering, evil, and incompetent.
    Andor throws all this in the bin and creates a convincing story with only grey characters.
    The Rebellion in Andor is shown to be brutal terrorists who want to fight the Empire and bring Freedom even if they have to kill lots of people in the process.

    Man, THIS scene. For me it's hands down the most real like and tense scene related to a "space ship fight" stuff in Star Wars EVER -even kind of scary if u ask me-. By the time this takes place Andor's "realistic" tone is already well established in your head which makes the moment more vivid and realistic I guess. This is waaaaaay beyond from just pushing the magical escape button like it sort of happens in so many other Star Wars moments. This just feels so damn real.

    • @rawwad
      @rawwad 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      what the hell were you watching?, this is exactly “pushing the magical escape button” , Empire forces are absolutely stupid and incompetent in this scene. The dude’s ship one shot Tie-fighters with small auto-turret, there was no challenge, no tension. It felt totally ordinary like any other star wars scene, no even getting close to Jango and Obi-Wan chase in asteroid field.

    I'm glad they went back to the old school, 1970s style computers instead of "modern" OLED panels and such. Star Wars is a different universe. Technology developed differently in this galaxy and in some anachronistic ways, but it just feels true to Star Wars for me. They take being able to travel through hyperspace for granted because they've been doing it for so long, have sentient machines, yet you won't seem them using a laptop or playing Xbox. Energy weapons are actually not ideal in space, but it's just how things developed in this galaxy so everyone uses them. It's like an alternate take on what human history might have been if we were exposed to advanced technology and aliens early on. Cool to see kinetic weapons being used too (or "countermeasures" as he calls them)

    • @Shinzon23
      @Shinzon23 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uh, energy weapons in space would actually be IDEAL, due to not needing to haul physical ammo, for projectile weapons, or full up missile, which are fun bundles of joy that want to detonate. and take up a lot of room.
      Energy weapons, on the other hand, only require a power feed, cooling system, and a aiming method, and as long as the power holds out, you can fire.

  • @SFisher1993
    @SFisher1993 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Luthen is my new favourite Star Wars Character! He has to be a Jedi! His piloting skills are very impressive very similar to Anakin’s skills when flying a Jedi Fighter during the Clone Wars.

    • @logandarklighter
      @logandarklighter ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Doesn't HAVE to be a Jedi. Han Solo and Lando Calrissian weren't, yet they both could fly the Millenium Falcon better than most pilots could fly their fighter craft.
      Wedge Antilles was arguably better than BOTH of them - survived every battle. Excellent "Bug out" instincts (knows when to GET THE HELL OUT).
      None of those three are Jedi. I think they are more impressive for NOT being Jedi.
      Add Luthen to the list of characters whose accomplishments would be DIMINISHED in my eyes if they were Jedi.
