I felt the same way about Heir of Fire when I read it. But keep going!!! MANON BECOMES SUPER IMPORTANT IN THE LATER BOOKS and honestly, she has the best character development in the series!!!!
I love how Haley explain everything like how she talked about fantasy series, i have never thought about it like that before. We just gotta love her, she’s also so cute
I would totally recommend reading the Assassins Blade before the fourth throne of glass book bc there are some characters from Assassins Blade that make a comeback in the later books :)
Okay, I’ve read all the ACOTAR books. And I also skip spicy scenes in books. Most people make out these books as just spice and spice throughout the book. But that is not true. The first book has pretty much nothing and in the books after that, it’s just separate scenes. And very easy to skip. I really recommend giving them a try and making up your own mind!
FR!! i remember people talking so much shit about acotar being a book filled with smut but it was like 2 of the tiniest scenes. i was like fr this is what ppl were complaining about? i think haley would enjoy them, they're definitely skippable scenes
The folk of the air sieries is definitely on of my favorites! My views were very similar to yours. The first book was good but it was't until the second and third book that I became obsessed. I read the first book in a week and the second and third within three days. I also found myself really enjoying the political intrigue but what kept me so obsessed was the romance. Even though there isn't a lot of it, in my opinion what is there is elite.
I wanted this video to last forever. I’m so glad you loved «The folk of the air» series. It’s one of my favorites, and I totally agere that the wicked king is the best by far. I love it so much!
Honestly also got baited with the "enemies to lovers" in The Cruel Prince as I wanted to try getting into fantasy but in all honesty I started reading it because of the memes and the banter and subplot romance was good enough for me. Ended up falling in love with the series.
I’m so happy you finally read Folk of the Air!! IT’S SO GOOD. Acotar is basically the spicer version of that book series (however the spice scenes are very easy to skip!!). I wish you would read it because I’d love to know your thoughts on it lol I’m obsessed!!!!
Keep going with the Throne of Glass Series! It’s a slow read, but the character development is on a different level imo. Also, if you continue the series, make sure you pay attention to the witches plot…it’s really important down the line in the series!
@@roda3181 I've seen that you should read it before, since celaena references a character that's prominent in that book throughout at least the first two books :)
I read the folk of the air trilology a while back, i sobbed when finishing the last one, bc I was just like you, very new to fantasy and didn't know where to start, i absolutely loved the series with all of my heart. 5 star series for sure!
I love the Throne of Glass Series. I was the same as you when I read Heir of Fire, I didn't enjoy the witches story line, but in the books afterwards Manon becomes one of my favourite characters so definitely try to stay engaged with that story line as much as you can! Also, regarding the Assassins blade, I would read it next because in future books, especially the last few a lot of characters you meet will have been introduced in Assassins blade.
If you want to read more YA fantasy/romance, definitely read These Violent Delights!!! It’s my absolute FAVORITE duology and I think you would like it!
There is a fourth book for the folk of the air series! There is also a short audiobook that goes with the series too! Was obsessed with this series sooo much 🤍
you should read “pachinko” by min jin lee. i’m reading it right now and i can’t explain it but it feels like a movie. like i’m literally reading these beautiful words and descriptions and it all just becomes so vivid. it genuinely feels like it’s all playing out in front of me. i usually read trashy romances and can’t sit through long novels, but this one is different and so far it’s been immaculate.
After throne of glass series I would really recommend A court of thorns and roses! TOG is more action and plot based while ACOTAR is more character and relationship based. Also so glad you read the Cruel Prince series, I was soo sad when it ended! I was not a reader before I got on booktok a year ago and now I’m fangirling that you are reading the popular books that I got suckered into reading LOL.
Im really excited for you to read more fantasy books!! If you are looking for another series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare is really good and its a young adult series! You really inspired me to read more and I got a lot of recommendations from your videos so tysm!
i’m so glad you’re reading the TOG series!! it’s one of my faves!! Sarah J. Maas is my favorite author! i definitely recommend you read A Court of Thorns and Roses next!!
AHHHH THE TOG SERIES IS MY FAVE!! I waited too long to do assassins blade for the same reason of wanting to stay on the original timeline but I really regretted reading it late. You’re right on time- read it before QOS! Also you got through the toughest reads- the rest of the series EXPLODES with plot twists and omfg it’s so good!! Im so excited to see how you like the next few! Also if you’re up for it, I highly recommend either tandem reading EOS and TOD together (they take place at the same exact time). If you’re not feeling that, read TOD 1st bc EOS ends with a huge cliff hanger and you’re gonna want to jump straight into KOA. Enjoy the journey!!
im so glad you started off with the folk air series, i just moved onto the wicked king yesterday and have been LOVING it so far. it was hard to get into at first but i think googling the characters and looking at the fan art helped me SO much and now i cant put the books down.

My favorite book series that really got me into reading, was the Serafina series. This series consists of 4 books, Serafina and the black cloak, Serafina and the twisted staff, Serafina and splintered heart and Serafina and the seven stars. I cannot stress enough how beautiful this series is. It's a bit more for younger teens, BUT OH MY GOODNESS. It's a mystery series set at the Biltmore Estate when George and Edith Vanderbilt lived there. It's about their "Nephew" and one of the workers daughters. Its fantasy mystery with a bit of love. All the books are so satisfying!! It has my whole heart. Please read it! If you do, I really hope you like it! If it gets boring just keep reading it gets so amazing. Also, the author just writes in such a special way that really makes you fall in love with the characters and the story. Super easy read!
I felt the EXACT same way about TOG and TCP and I def am not super legible with all the 'fantasy terms' but I've grown more and more accustomed to it! I'm so excited to watch you on your reading journey!
The mortal instruments series and just everything by Cassandra Clare they’re all YA fantasy and romance plus the characters all flow from one book to the next and new characters get introduced as the story goes on but they stay once they’re introduced
I feel you Haley, I am a young adult/mystery reader and I never thought I would read fantasy. But SHADOW AND BONE OMG. You need to read that, it has Cruel Prince vibes and you would love it
If you want to try another fantasy romance, I can't recommend Dance of Thieves by Mary E Pearson enough! It has two books, and the fantasy isn't overwhelming. It has some political intrigue, but not as much as the cruel prince series as the romance does take the front seat.
I think if u give a try to the second book in six of crows you're really going to like it!! or shadow and bone trilogy is really good too and easier to understand:)
Girl throne of glass BROKE ME. Finishing that series was like parting from loved ones you never wanted to leave. Also trust me the witches plot with Manon and the 13 would bore me to death (I would even skip some of their chapters in the beginning) but let me tell you she is literally in my top 3 favorite characters! I can't wait for you to finish the series!
i recommend reading some of tolkien's work, such as the hobbit, and the lord of the rings trilogy. i personally love his work and the universe he created

you should read red queen! i haven’t finished the series yet but the first book is soooooo good!! it’s what got me back into reading :)
I think if u give a try to the second book in six of crows you're really going to like it!! or shadow and bone trilogy is really good too and easier to understand:)
Thanks to haley i have finally found interesting books to read on the weekends
Haley! you need to post more ur like my new favorite booktober
love your videos 💕
Girl throne of glass BROKE ME. Finishing that series was like parting from loved ones you never wanted to leave. Also trust me the witches plot with Manon and the 13 would bore me to death (I would even skip some of their chapters in the beginning) but let me tell you she is literally in my top 3 favorite characters! I can't wait for you to finish the series!
i recommend reading some of tolkien's work, such as the hobbit, and the lord of the rings trilogy. i personally love his work and the universe he created
i love how you read different genres and age ratings!
That’s so cool! I read the whole folk of the air series in January too😁
Also I read ACOTAR and loved it! the plot is so good and it’s honestly really easy to skip the spicer scenes in it
omg i seriously needed the motivation to complete the whole series.MUCH NEEDED VIDEO [LOVE ITT]🥰
