At this point I don’t read viral books when they first become popular, I wait till the second wave of reviews come to know if it’s actually good or not

@@SG-kt3vjI read Tomorrowx3! I love video games and found it to be heavy on the game side of the story however, I’ve seen A LOT of people online say they don’t play games and still very much enjoyed the book! I think you’ll be fine so long as you have an open mind. 😁

At this moment of time, I can proudly say that I don't trust much of the booktok recommendations but if it is read by Haley I get the motivation to read it......

Tip: for books like babel, either with many pages or complex, I recommend reading while listening to the audiobook. Makes getting thru it while understanding it that much easier

If you’re looking for more general fiction, you should read Anxious People by Fredrik Backman. It’s a bit confusing for the first bit but the end is soo good

I really love how slow Babel is. It’s slow but never boring because you’re learning so much about language. I think we just live in a world where people need quick and exciting and that’s not necessarily a good thing all the time in books.
I’d love for you to know I’ve read two books so far this year, which is equal to the number of books I read last year (both last year I had read before though) and YOU GET 100% of the credit for that. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for giving me the encouragement to read books that don’t necessarily have a “point” and as you said “exercise that muscle”. I have really been enjoying reading your recommendations and can’t wait to make my own choices too. I literally put a bunch of titles in a wheel online and when I finish I spin the wheel for my next one.

That passage that you highlighted from Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow questioning "Why was it acceptable for apparently well-meaning people to see the world in such a general way?" really stood out to me as well. It was definitely a meaningful scene, although I don't know that it contributed much to the overall narrative.

Absolutely loved Babel, it was very much a top book for me, love the writing style. You started talking about Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow and I checked my library holds to see when it was coming and realized I read it last month and already couldn't remember reading it. I enjoyed it while I was reading it but already could not remember the story so, not quite a 5-star read for me.
Totally my problem. I checked a book out of the library last week and didn't remember I had already read it until I started reading it again.
You should read the Chronicles of Narnia next! They’re easy read, fast paced (since each book is around 100 pages), and I love them💕💗

I know this is WAY late, but I just wanted to comment on this. I totally get that guys rage about his dog. I have a small min pin. He's smaller than usual and we didn't cut his ears, so when people look at him, they always assume he's a chihuahua. And I get SO ANGRY about that! I can't help it. Just look at him and you will see that he is a MIN PIN. Ugh! Sorry, just really needed to say that. 😁

im actually interested for you to read "On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous". I don know if you have already read the book, but if you haven't do try to read it. I think its very interesting to read, though im not fond of the story itself but it think its quite interesting..
you should do a video where you go to local bookstores and ask the employees to show you their favorite book and then read/give us your review of each book!
I’m one of the few people that really disliked Tomorrow x3… personally I found all the characters were pretentious, annoying and infuriating. Their extreme lack of communication skills drove me up the wall. Granted the miscommunication trope is the bane of my existence ~ just ended up seething in rage lol 😂 I can see why some people love it, just too many tropes in it that I hate so just isn’t for me
rf kuang is HEAVY, but Poppy War is easier to read. Trust me its my fave series ever

My FAVORITE book I ever read (besides the Bible) is mission #1 black list it’s really intense and really well written (it’s about the Capture of Saddam Hussain) would 10/10 recommend reading
Babel put me in such a reading slump. I loved the Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow audiobook though. I often find many viral books overrated. Not sure if that's just because I hype them up so much beforehand that I set myself up for disappointment 🤔 Lessons in Chemistry and the Silent Patient are key examples.

Thank you for this - I have had Babel on my bedside table for over a month now and it is just so hard to get into!!!!! But I felt like that about The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and that turned out to be one of my all-time-faves so I know I should push through! Going to order a hardcopy of Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tommorrow and get the audiobook of Lessons in Chemistry. This video was a match made in booktube heaven for me 💗

long slow fantasy books with a big ol’ climax are my favorite type of book. it took me forever to get into them but now when i read anything else i’m like… mmmn does not hit as much! slow buildups inched their way into my heart without me noticing and now it feels like they’re never going to leave

I absolutely love R.F. Kuang's books, and I'm reading the poppy war rn, and it starts off slow, and there is a lot of battle, and then back to slower but I absolutely love it. and sometimes I just need time to digest what had happened, I love it!

Not millions. That was a gross exaggeration with disturbing implications actually. Most people make their own decisions about how to read, aside from a small percentage of easily influenced younger readers looking for a role model figure. It’s fine. But it’s not millions and would be swift like in affect in not greater if that were true which means the market would’ve noted it after video releases. And then we’d have to question what happened to free thinking and inclusive reading because there’s not much here for Black and/or queer readers/authors to start

A book I highly recommend reading is Red Queen if you haven’t read it already! It’s a fantasy book and kinda of love? If you enjoy the first book the second book is kind of slow but you get to meet a lot of new people

Wait this is actually so funny. I had watched this video right when it came out. Now this week I finished reading Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow myself. To process the book (because I'm having trouble putting my feelings about it into words) I thought watching Haley's video again would help. In my notes app I literally took a note that said "I'm only on page 172 but it already feels like I read an entire novel worth of Sam and Sadie's story". So when Haley mentioned the exact same thing at 3:40 that was so funny 😮😂

Unpopular opinion: I also only rated Babel 3 stars. It was like a university lecture at times (though fantastically researched and smart) and I didn‘t like the plot and character development towards the end. 😢
