- This is the first long awaited ECU upgrade from 550 Performance in the UK. I contacted them mid last year and Maverick, ever the helpful guy, said he was looking for a Guinea Pig to help test fit...I was that man!
After a play with the loom and various discussions about how to fit, Maverick sent me a test unit. Perfect, it really smooths out the engine, and with the CBR300 velocity stack fitted, the engine has a new life. Such a difference.
I believe these will be available April 23 on...get fitting!

Update 1/4/23 - you do not need the jumper or the learning instructions, that was only for the trial one
Hello, can you advise about the long-term use of the stage 1 upgrade? How many miles have you done on the bike since fitting it? Any issues with the engine or other components that could be attributed to the ECU upgrade? Thanks.
100% for me. Nothing negative at all. I also fitted the CBR300 air intake rubber (see video). Also added 2 extra foam pre filters but still use the stock paper filter as a final.
Doesn't make it a KTM350 but it goes better and rides well.
A decent upgrade. I'd do it again
@@jeffwkirby Apologies for the additional question, but any MOT emission concerns following the modifications?
Hi, there are no emisions check on the bike here in the UK for an MOT, so no issue there.
I have been running the 87 octane stage 1 for a year now, with larger airbox intake and I like the mid range boost it provides. I tried the 550 higher fuel octane option but noticed signs of detonation on NZ fuel.
What crash bars are those? They look like a simple yet effective option.
The crash bars are from Bikerzbits in Thailand. They are soft but they have saved the bike twice and are good protection for small drops (and they do look good)
My ECU from 550 didn't come with instructions and that plug. 🤔
If i recall you don't need any. Plug and play. On first restart just let it tick over and relearn itself.
You don't need the jumper
@@jeffwkirby thank you.
What do you think of Graves Motorsports claim of 15% power gains from their exhaust system?
Personally never heard of them, but I'd be dubious of a claim like that...appears they have discovered a new gold!
@@jeffwkirby There’s a dyno test on their website. It make the bike more intriguing if true.
I want to get mine flashed, but can't find his address on the post office website, don't want to risk losing it. Tha address on 550 site doesn't come up on any delivery site
They are 100% legit. Suggest you purchase online and then they'll acknowledge with the address you forward to, and if in doubt a quick email to 550 will prompt a confirmation. I do remember the address being a little odd, but worked fine for me. You'll not regret it :)
What crash bars are you using ? Thank you
Bikerzbits in Thailand. Soft but pretty. I braced mine...see later video

What octane fuel do you use with the Stage 1 upgrade. I bought a used Rally with the Stage 1 ECU and Yosimura exhaust and the previous owner told me he used 91 octane fuel. I can't find any reference for what octane is best.
Think they different values here in the UK. Fuels have RON values. Either 95 or 98, I use either and can't feel any difference.
It’s only a small 300 , you can’t squeeze 35hp out of it
You can get 34 out of it with a 301 kit.

The factory tune is very lean, choked up for EPA. The ECU richen's up the fuel table and makes a more efficient fuel burn. Just like you would tune a two-stroke, no difference here. 550 ECU makes your engine run more efficiently. Hence why my MPG went up and my engine temps went down. 👍
Hi, how high is indle in cold start
Can't exactly recall, pretty similar to stock. Calms down as it warms. Throughly recommend though, it runs smoother at all points.
2,000 ish when cold then slowly lowers to @1450- 1500.
Hi Jeff what was the turn around time from posting your ECU ?
Can't recall exactly but pretty quick, around 10 days from end to end I believe. 550 didn't hang around
So EU no bueno :( ? EDIT: euro is ok.
Sorry, not sure what you mean. The ECU is good...
@@jeffwkirby oh wow! My bad, was looking to the wrong product page! In the past i only found us/asia only. Sorry for the misinformation
Correct, the European E11 version was added only today. Thanks
How much inc post etc from the USA
Can't recall exactly but it is listed on their website. Cost around £35 to send DHL...choose a small package!
@@jeffwkirby I sent my ecu for reflash and thinking a replacement would cost around £1000 I insured the post accordingly, £80 insurance and postage UK to US.
