  • Don Henley, the iconic drummer and co-lead vocalist of the legendary rock band Eagles was born on July 22, 1947, in Gilmer, a small town in East Texas to Hughlene and C.J Henley, His father worked as a highway building contractor, and his mother was a talented singer and pianist. It was within the walls of their modest home that Henley's passion for music began to blossom. Inspired by the sounds of country, blues, and rock 'n' roll that permeated the air, he developed an early fascination with rhythm and melody. Henley's journey to musical stardom began when he moved to Denton to attend North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas). It was here that he met fellow musicians Glenn Frey, Randy Meisner, and Bernie Leadon, laying the foundation for what would become the Eagles. The band's harmonious blend of rock, folk, and country elements catapulted them to international fame in the 1970s, with Henley's vocals on hits like "Hotel California" "Desperado" "Witchy Woman" "Best of My Love", "One of These Nights","Life in the Fast Lane", "Victim of Love", "The Last Resort", "The Long Run", and "Get Over It". He was romantically linked to Sharon Summerall, Patty Smyth, Eleanor Mondale, Dana Delany, Maren Jensen, Lois Chiles, Stevie Nicks, Georganne LaPiere, Lorelei Shellist, Loree Rodkin, Signy Coleman and Cathy Lee Crosby.
