    I enjoy seeing Dr McDougal and learning more so much! Many people can't afford the program...on his website but as he said the program is free! I have three of his books, have watched a lot of his videos....all free! I have lost over 40 lbs in less than a year....I am still going....I love Dr McDougal and his wife for all they have given in their knowledge of nutrition@

    At 215 pounds I had asthma, hay fever, diverticulitis, internal and external hemorrhoids, borderline high blood pressure, I had no energy and felt terrible. In six months I lost 50 pounds and at 165 pounds all my health issues are gone. Jerome, it keeps getting better. God bless John and Mary McDougall and Chef A.J. you all are doing the Lord's work!

    I developed prostate cancer which my doctor diagnosed in July 2011. I decided NOT to endure the traditional medical interventions. Later, I stumbled on the book, The China Study. In that book, I learned of Dr. McDoughall. I bought several of his books and followed his recommendations to the letter. I began walking 3 to 10 miles a day, visiting the gym to lift weights 3 times a week. In April 2014, my urologist performed a follow up biopsy which was much more detailed than the original biopsy. NO cancer found. My PSA dropped from a high of 7.5 to 1.4. I dropped 80 pounds. I went off my blood pressure medicines because I no longer needed them. These results amazed my Internist and even more so, my urologist. He asked "What are you doing?" I explained it to him. He adopted the diet and lifestyle himself. "Remarkable," he said.

    2014 - I went to ER for an unrelated problem (it was Sunday night, and nothing else was open) - and this is when, as part of the intake protocol, my blood pressure was taken: 210/185. Yes, they changed 3 machines, thinking the machines were faulty. Left with a prescription for BP and my cough. During the following week I read about BP and got properly terrified, next Sunday night, back to ER (Canada here, so not a worry about the cost) - saying that I still got my cough and my BP is still high... New meds for cough, BP medication doubled, and a new one added...
    2018 I'm developing arrhythmia, got sent to a cardiologist, got my third BP medication, and then,
    Jan 2019, I stumble upon a severely delicious WFPB SOS free recipe (from Well Your World - yumbalaya!!!), next was the recipe for oil-free hummus and was so happy to enjoy the hummus without heartburn... And then, I see that Dillon Holmes, among those recipes, has interviews with medical doctors!!!!!!!!!!! What now??? Checked all of their credentials, so I don't get sucked up into a cult :) So, as I see that the science is solid, I continue WFPB no oil or sugar... a little bit of salt was still there...
    Within 2 weeks I become super light headed, and I discontinue the 3rd BP medication. Cardiologist super impressed "keep doing what you're doing, but I won't recommend this to other patients, they might not get the same result"... flabbergasted... haven't seen him since, otherwise I would have gifted him with the research of a LOT of his colleagues...
    Long story short, back to a single BP medication, half dose, which I'm confident can be ditched if not for other long stories behind my lifestyle choices... (wine and smoking, and the long stories behind those)
    At this point, I feel that it is criminal that meat is not sold like cigarettes are - with health warnings- not that warning on a pack of cigs stopped any smoker... But at least they should be selling meat along with statins...
    The lack of nutrition education is jaw dropping, and don't even get me started on how the farmed animals outnumber us 10 to 1... What a lactating cow eats in a day would feed ME for 3 weeks, but we have too many PEOPLE?????
    Oooh, look how many mice your grain harvest killed, you VEGAN.... well... 20 times as many mice are killed to feed you, NON VEGAN...

    • @JohnDoe-xk1dv
      @JohnDoe-xk1dv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're getting there, well done!
      You're realising how deep self- medicating of the body with abusive substances go, including the food. We can do so much better - we have to do better.

    • @mattzilla331
      @mattzilla331 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hear ya. I wasn't on any medication or had anything serious going on but I lost 45 pounds and my cholesterol was in the 130s. The doctor asked me what I did. I said I weight train and do cardio and follow a low fat vegan diet. He frowned at me. Told me to make sure I still eat a little meat. I just laughed.
      When people ask me how I did it I tell them by eating lots of rice beans potatoes ect. I get told no way I'd get fat I can't do that. You must be lucky. Its crazy to me people don't know the truth.

    • @JohnDoe-xk1dv

      @@mattzilla331 sigh... another mal/miseducated doctor pushing unhealthy habits on people. Feel free to write a polite statement of concern about that advice to his practise/hospital superiors, with references to the science that suggest he's incorrect.
      Otherwise, he'll keep doing the same with other patients.

      Sure - ideally wholewheat couscous, but refined couscous is a bit like white rice on the program. Not a deal breaker, in itself.
      Polenta in its packaged form should be fine for most people, as long as not treated with any oil or fat.

      @Peter Rabbit - Pianist-Composer ♫ No intact wheat berries for me. I cannot eat any of the gluten grains and oats fully intact. They must be cut, ground, rolled, or flaked for me to eat them. As long as the germ and bran haven't been removed, it's still whole grain and not refined.

      I love polenta, every once in a while I make a polenta corn pudding with dried figs, and vanilla in the Blentec or high speed blender, let it cool in the fridge then top with cherries. You can find a similar recipe on Living Lambs youtube channel. Yum! You can use dates for the sweetener instead if you are worried about plant mold on dried figs, I don't worry about it though.

    A good topic for Dr.McDougall to speak on is how numbers prevail over real results in the global healthcare system. He touched on it a bit here: a low cholesterol, which can be done with statins, won't keep you from suffering the effects of your bad habits.
    I would structure such a lecture like this: provide examples of what a person can do (for example eat fat), while sustaining the numbers on a "normal" level (by taking insulin or statins etc.); what that person can suffer from while taking or not taking these drugs; and what that person could do instead (eat starch) to get better; plus which numbers may still be "bad" in spite of the health being good.

    Dr. McDougall, do you think that the SAD diet could be a cause of 12 year old boys sexually harassing their female classmates? Or, unrelated?
