    In my opinion you can replace most of his pedals by some other similar ones or just not having them. IMO you only MUST have 3 pedals: Boss Ds2, Ibanez Wh10 and as the Ce1 is extremely expesive you can replace it with Ce2 which awesome.

      Dave Simpson You can try the clapperboard method. You start rolling before you do anything serious you hit the strings muted. Than you sync the volume spikes in post editing and everything should be fairly synced.

One question: I am planning to build my own little pedal board, I already have a zoom g3x ( which is I think is a bit simmilar to your g2 ) and planning to set it up with a Boss ds-2 and a vox 847. I had a low-end equipment, but now i'm saving money to buy new equipment, it's being kinda hard but i think i can do it, thanks to you, i decided to buy a CR120H and a 4x12 cabinet, cause it's just loud and huge, i'm a great Frusciante fan too, and i wanted to replicate his sound, but since my budget is tight...what do you think I should go for when it comes to pedals? i already own a Zoom G2 and a Vox V845, i'm searching for a BOSS DS-2 now, so...is there a good Fuzz pedal for a tight budget?

    Dave,
    Firstly a great series and I have been continually following - keep up the good work matey - it has been a massive help to me and improved my playing ability beyond recognition of a month ago.
    Secondly, I'm after a bit of help in trying to get a Frusciante pedal board (as close as possible) out of the G2.U1 exclusively - any pointers on settings? Freeing up the funds for the extra pedals would put me behind on getting a new Strat.
    Thirdly, what Strats are you using.
    Fourthly, I've just realised you are from Louth - indeed my home town....I wonder if we have met on a hazy afternoon at Hubbard's or similar in years gone by, we must know a few of the same names....beer is on me when I get back there!

    • @thedavesimpson
      @thedavesimpson  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Howde and thank you very much and glad you like my John series and its cool your a fellow Louth resident. :) If you can private message me i'll do some research into the zoom John tones and get back to you when i've figured something. What amp and guitar do you have?

    • @mickeymouse6233
      @mickeymouse6233 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      FB'ed a message to you mate - current Zoom G2.1u presets I could find on line left a lot to be desired, and without knowing other peoples balances of amp and guitar makes it a bit tough.

    When you max out the level on the ds-2 pedal don't you get a huge volume difference when you turn it on? Or is that fixed with the gain on the amp? Love your videos by the way!

      It is indeed fixed with the gain on the amp. Thank you for liking what i do. :)

    Hello Dave
    What would u say if a distortion pedal has a "Tone" knob on it and It's all the way on high and I have 1 with 3 knobs for high, mid, bass EQ-s, how do I set all 3 to get the same output as if I had only 1 Tone knob all the way up high

    • @thedavesimpson
      @thedavesimpson  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say you want to use the high and low frequencies more than the mids. Tone normally just add high end. I hope this helps. :)

    Hello Dave! How are you? I´m trying to achieve Frusciante´s "cleanish" sound the we all know and love! To get that sound with a clean amp, I know you recomended Tone City Golden Plexi but I live in Brazil and I´m having trouble finding this pedal here. Is there any other option that you can think of? If I´m not wrong, you once said Marshall Jackhammer would be a good choice too...Please, let me know your thoughts! Btw, I´m using a Squier Classic Vibe 50s (really nice guitar)

    Hey mate, enjoying your videos. As a newish fan of RHCP did John use his DS2 as his main distortion sound or simply as a boost for leads? I'm trying to get that Suck My Kiss kinda distortion sound for my Strat. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    • @thedavesimpson
      @thedavesimpson  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much and in doodles John did use his ds2 as his main distortion. As for getting the suck my kiss sound i'm not 100% sure what john was using and it'd be hard to nail the exact sound. Sounds like amp distortion but could be the ds2 with the gain run abut half. :)

    I'm thinking of buying my first pedals (ds2 and vox v847 wah) but my amp doesn't have channels (orange tiny terror combo amp). Wondering if the ds2 would still run fine through a totally clean channel?? Is there some overdrive pedal I should put it through? Thanks :D

    • @thedavesimpson
      @thedavesimpson  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The DS2 wont like that no. You need an overdrive straight after the amp to compress the sound so the DS2 can't get rowdy. :) The tone city golden plexi is the best but a boss overdrive will work nicely to. :)
