    i once went 136mph (220 kmh) on the autobahn... then i saw a flashing light in my mirror so i moved over to the right lane to let the incoming car past. which was going at light speed in comparison to me.. all i saw was ''WHOOOSH''
    doesnt matter how fast you go, there is always a german going 2x as fast as you...

      Yep, my friend who went to Germany a while back said he was going 125(mph) and saw someone flashing their lights so he moved over, he said a Mercedes and a BMW passed him going 160.
      He also was saying how you're supposed to keep the left lane open.

    • @wildwilco
      @wildwilco 6 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      computer thats true, but sometimes you need to overtake the slow cars in the right lane ;) in the netherlands and germany we learn to stick to the right as much as possible. some people dont really follow that rule *cough* BMW drivers *cough*

    When your doing 133 mph, please look in the rear view mirror in case someone wants to overtake.

    • @godmode8687
      @godmode8687 5 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      No, just dont stay on the left lane when the right one is free. You dont have to look at the mirror when in the left lane.
      If you are currently overtaking someone, you cant do anything if someone is behind you. If you are on the left lane and not overtaking someone you have to leave the lane. Even if you are completely alone. Give me a situation where looking in the mirror would help!

      @@Denny041087 congratulations. This is so far probably the most stupid comment on youtube. Seatbelts compensate more than 50% of the impact inertia energy from humans body and protect you from smashing with 100% of your fat body into the airbag which is at that moment hard as a closed door. I'm an engineer and I develop crash systems for premium cars. We also consider american drivers, who are allowed to drive with the seat belts unfastened. It's always the same... even our customers from the US know how stupid it is, but they still want us to consider such brainless requirements.

      one stupid motherf.... that is to lazy to check the mirrors nearly killed my buddy.
      the AMG just did breakdance on the autobahn and then flew thro the forrest like a boss cutting every three down on his way.
      the car loose the driver door, windos, wheels the whole frame was bend etc.
      my friend was able to survive this crash without driver doors!!!!
      without seat belt he would be dead as fck.
      he had broken ribs cuz some branches hit him hard, but fuck this. hes alive and i am happy like a child on his birthday that he made it without hard injuries.
      god bless good people.
      the funniest thing was that a day after the crash i pressed the start button and the engine just started like nothing happend xD

On the way to the Autobahn we chattered a little bit, but on the Autobahn, he suddenly became very quiet. As i looked over to him, i've seen his Hands cramped on the dashboard and the handhold, sweat all over his face. I asked if he is OK. Answer:"Please SLOW DOWN a little bit."

      That is true. But from the perspective of someone who is used to a system that reduces crash rates and resolves road conflicts it does seem dangerous. There is a recommended speed of 130kmh = 80mph for the autobahn. If u have an accident and the court thinks u could have avoided the accident by not speeding over 80mph u will be found at least partially guilty, even if the accident is another person's fault.

    11:48 German, and European, trucks and semi-trucks are actually limited to 55mp/h (about 90km/h). Trucks are allowed to overtake one another, but not everywhere and not during rush hour, but that depends on location.

      Speedlimits for cars/trucks of more then 3.5tons
      - in cities : 50km/h
      - outside of cities : 60km/h
      - Autobahn : 80km/h
      But busses are allowed to go 100km/h on the Autobahn
      And as the police usually accepts a tolerance of approx 5 to 10% before you get fined, everybody is a little bit faster than allowed.

      Rick, on a 100kmh road I drive at max 70, but some drive quicker.. Off the motorway, the police will definitely pull you over for exceeding 70. 70 kmh areas I drive at 60. 50 & 30 I drive 50 and 30, depending on area, some areas can only be safely driven at those speeds in a car. It all depends on the road, area & traffic.

    Another note about lorries/semis: across Europe, the speed limit for these is 80 km/h, or 50 mph. This is enforced by a speed limiter. There can be some small differences between individual limiters, and then you get these big guys overtaking each other VERY slowly.

    I live in Germany and most of the time I'm driving at 200+ km/h. We have a recommended speed (In Germany we call this ,,Richtgeschwindigkeit“) of about 130 km/h but nobody cares about it. our government has been thinking about a speed limit of 130 km/h but it was rejected. And most of the Germans don't want to have a speed limit on the Autobahn (You call this Highway or freeway i think). We also don't have toll (Only for trucks).
    Btw the left lane is only for overtaking, (Super) Sport Cars, BMW and Mercedes!

      Dont say it like the left lane is just for fast cars, when one truck overlaps another truck its normal to overlap them with 120 km/h ( Truck Speedlimit is 80 km/h)

    The guy driving the mini van is possibly one of the most german people I have seen - 'Is that a 6x6?' (Typical American response - 'yeah dude it's awesome')- German guy, completely un-phased - 'Yes'
