You must be so proud. Sam is the type of Dad everyone could wish for. I love the Tee Shirt with "Who's your Garndpa?" on it. He is a true legend, Humble and a true Gentleman.
Thank you for sharing him with us. It makes me smile every time I see Sam, and know he is having a blast. His presence and wisdom alone gives more than you’ll ever know to those boys who surround him. God bless you, and of course god bless Mr. Sam!!!

Man you got to LOVE this guy !!! I am 74 years old and have been a gear head all my life. From working in a machine shop to tool and die. And have ran pro stock with some of the greats. I had my own machine shop and engine rebuilding shop for over 30 years. He is living my dream with those guys with Cleetus McFarland. You go Sam !!!!
Sam is one of the greatest additions to the Cleeter crew. I think it's safe to say we all love Sam. Proof that age is but a number, I hope if I make it to 79 I have Sam's energy. God Bless you sir!
Sam you’re so right. We have so much in common we are both up in years except I am about one year older than you are at 79. My adult son and I opened up a high performance engine building company about six years ago. I wasn’t made out of money but I helped my son get the money needed to open up our business he is 54. We build mainly Chevy engines because they’re easy to make a lot of horse power + if built right they’re very dependable + unlike Ford engines they’re much less expensive to build. We build engines for our 50 or so regular customers from drag boats + circle track + drag racing and so on. We can’t take on anymore customers because of our size and we will not sacrifice quality for money. Things finally were going great and then 3 months ago it happened I had a heart attack and 2 weeks later my stroke. There is something no one regardless of age can depend on and that’s their health regardless of our age. I found out a brain tumor from agent orange that I was subjected to like thousands of other troops while in Vietnam. Well my son will have our company and I have the satisfaction of knowing we did something together for one last time. You’re a sweet heart of a man Sam I only wish we could have met. Thank You Sam your a Peach, Cheers
This was hands down, one of the most heartwarming and inspirational videos I think I have ever watched. Call me an old soul, but listening to somebody who has been there and done that AND STILL just genuinely loves what he's doing brings a tear to a man's eye. Thank you Mr. Sam
I'm Australian BUT i think the best SAM moment on Cleetus was an episode a couple years ago called Our Ultimate SLEEPER Turbo Marauder Is Done and It's INSANE!!! Sam is driving & gases it up with 1 hand on the wheel for a bit, the laughter was pure pure joy.
I love this old man he brings a smile on my face. Every time they show him he’s one spunky, old man that has no fear of speed and I love it keep up the good work, Sam.
I’m Sam’s age and he’s got more energy than I ever had. Good for you Sam. I’m sure you’ve taught those younger guys some things too. Cleetus definitely has put together a great team and you are an important part of it. Happy 79th to you with more to come.👍👍🎂🎉🇨🇦
sam got that carb running good on that one motor cleet got. tuned it by ear cleet and them didn’t have an idea 😂 he’s definitely helping them in ways too
I was in cleatus tour of destruction event and sam pass by stood next to me didn't recognize him but he had some fries and started shearing his fries with my 2yr old very great full to meet him and treating my child with kindness
talked with him last november at lemullets. just a real genuine stand up guy. a true legend in disguise! im sure he brings perspective and a sense of "hold on and lets think before we act" that im sure cleetus and the shop guys can appreciate. i could only imagine the trouble a bunch of 20 somethings could get into without a Mr. sam around to keep them focused and grounded!
My wife always takes every chance she can to talk to Mr Sam. We go to quite a few events. My wife wouldn't leave me for Ryan Reynolds but I bet Sam would give me a run for my money
So awesome you did this feature. Sam has always been in the background of Cleetus’ videos. But, this interview showed what a genuinely kind, intelligent man he really is. He’s definitely someone I’d want in my life, so it’s understandable why Garrett wanted him around, as well.
I'll never forget when Cletus and crew started first taking off and James bought that big house and he comes into the shop talking about his next door neighbor It's this cool guy He's got a Corvette and a bunch of other cool stuff just a cool dude... And now we're here have fun Sam honk if you're happy
This man has done more and forgotten more in his lifetime than anyone that is a fan of anything motorsports. We have adopted Mr.Sam as our crazy old grandpa/uncle and this man is the embodiment of what it is to be a gearhead. Mr.Sam keep being you and we will all stand behind you till the end. Keep being the man we all strive to be and keep the dream alive. The entire Cleetus and 1320 fan base/family is behind you! Show us young folks what it means to be the best human around and spread what you know to all of us. Sam for president!!!!!!! You have our vote!!!
He reminds me of my grandfather. He had so many amazing stories. And I’m sure he does too. You need to have him on for more stories. I wish I recorded my grandfathers stories. Great memories …
seeing Sam at almost 80, still keeping up with Cleet and the entire crew in pace, and still learning on top of this - having him say his life's dream is coming true that late, and Sam immediately jumping on the opportunity is so refreshing to see - i can't explain how awesome it is to see this video and to hear sam's side of everything, the passion for still learning, the work ethics and effort he puts in, and the cars he is working on himself, is so great to see and hear, i just hope he keeps on for a lot longer
A real Legend right there!! Humble, honest, sincere, knowledgeable and willing to teach. Doesn't get much better. I love the shows (Cleetus, 1320, CJRC, and the others). My wife gets bored of it all, but she likes Mr. Sam too. We need to protect that man and keep him alive as long as possible.
This. I wanted to know more about Sam after Steve Morris went to his shop to fix something. I saw some of the kit in Sam's shop like the engines, machine tools, surface plate and figured there were a lot of stories to be told. Coming from a more software engineering background, I'd probably give the opposite advice to Sams. I sometimes guest speak at schools and one of my favorite ice breakers is asking the kids to put their phones on the desk. Then I ask them to make them move. Software is digital, most of the world is analogue so if you know how to bridge those worlds with some electronics and machining, pretty much anything is possible. There's an old engineers saying that if you can make a hammer, you can make anything.
There are 10’s of millions of “sams” out there. Go find one…or two, and learn from them. Sam isn’t the only one, he’s just a character of circumstance. We owe it to the older generations. Stop worshipping “TH-camrs and celebrities” and go do your service to the elders.
I have a Sam too , my friends dad a jack of all trade and when I have a question of the old racing days or the old times boy it’s just knowledge from these guys 💯
Mr. Sam is a Grandfather to more people than he realizes. Really enjoy watching his enthusiasm for everything. To be surrounded by younger guys, that’s the secret to Mr. Sam. Great guy
Sam is an unbelievable gem. He's so great on the channel but he really shines when you get him away from all the jokey energy in the team. This video and Coop's 'Sam' episode are documentary-level quality content. I love this guy
Sam, Sam, Sam. The greatest grandpa uncle out there. Wild'n and feeling the true need for speed. I'm glad he got his own episode on this series. Cheers, Sam. You're the real OG, Sam.
I'm 57, I wish had half the energy Sam does. The man is a treasure. It's such a testament to Garrett, James and the rest of the guy's character to not judge a man because he's old. Always remember, he was a young ass kicker just like YOU.
This is by far the greatest video you guys have given us. I've seen sam in videos for like 5-6 years now always wanted his backstory thanks 1320 and thank you Sam you are a great member of cleetus' team
My grandfather passed at 85 in 2021. He was always a youthful spirit. Worked as long as he could and I have pictures of him that year rolling around on the floor with my kids (his great-grandkids) and laying under cars with me covered in dirt, oil and grease. Mr. Sam, although he isn't "old" and seems to have many more years ahead of him, reminds me of my grandfather with his personality, humor, and willingness to jump into whatever is going on. I pray he has many more years ahead of him.
I'm still lucky at 32 to have to grandpas and 78 and 76 my poppy at 76 still is still married to my meme for 55 years. I love them dearly. My grandmother died at 63. Tore me up Because she raised me. Keep trucking Mr Sam!
Rest in peace to your grandfather, sounds like he created so many important & cherished memories with you & his great grandchildren, what a privilege he& yourself had. He’s watching!
He is so intoxicating to listen to and love this guy. Ran into him locally at Walmart one time wearing a Cleetus shirt and we talked for 5+ minutes about how cool it is what he does and at that time an upcoming trip.
I see Sam in Publix often…met him 20 years ago when he had a detailing product company in town called “4 Star”. He’s as legit as they come. Humble, friendly, forgot more than most of us know about hit rodding. True legend.
Best part of all of this, can't thank Kyle enough for pushing Garrett to go for it. Another thing, we got 2 awesome channels out of this and it's a wonderful time to be involved in cars and racing. Thanks Kyle and Garrett for making great content and being genuine🎉
Sam is forever a legend in the game! He never once cried never once complained! Never had an excuse he just wakes up and pushes for success but also makes sure his team is looking good! He’s proof of hard work pays off but also never quit chasing your dreams! We love you sam!!! Much love to the whole crew from Fort Worth TX
It's always great to see Mr. SAM on your videos, He always brings a smile to my face. Doesn't get to excited on the outside but you can tell he is inside 😊
I used to work with Sam at Norton Diamond Tool Co in Arden NC in 1979 thru 1984, he built a 302 ford for my brothers 79 ford pickup and he was tickled to death . Me , Randy Fisher , Gary Buckner ,were just kids but Lankford was cool and good to us! Thanks Sam
If your grandpa was anything like Sam he was a treasure, I’m sorry that he’s passed on. I’m not trying to preach to ya but I believe that you’ll see him again.
Samuel is the grandfather everyone wants. What a personality and such a humble man for the whole Mcfarland team. I wish i had a grandfather with such al lot knowledge about old school drag racing and caburator race engines. I love that guy. ❤
I could listen to Sam talk about life all day! I've spoken to Sam a couple times at events and he reminds me very much of my late grandfather. Love it!!
I so enjoyed this not only him sharing how he got to where he is and what he has accomplished but his take on life. I would tell anyone if you look at this video at least go to 11:00 and watch for 1 minute. At 68 years old his advice is so on target for everyone including myself and I was glad to be reminded of it. Thanks Mr. Sam! You were such a joy to watch. Time well spent!
Sam wasn't adopted.. I get what your saying. But Sam to me is the friend that just clicked!! Sky's the limit with a man like himself!! Not hating on your comment just going along with it.. But man.. we all know we can listen to this man everyday! He is Definitely genuine!! Love it!!
You can’t be for certain that he leaves the earth before you do even if your 20 years old! This guy could easily live another 15 years while someone younger could get in a car wreck get cancer etc!
Hi Sam from one old one to another, it was great to get an insite to your history. You are an insparation to the Cleetus scene so pleased to have shared a few moments of your life. Take care , have fun and most of all stay safe.
Sam, I went through the same exact thing as you. I'm a tool and die maker and have run my own shop for 14 years and am now 51 running a shop here in Albany, designing and building progression dies. Everything you say is absolutely true. It sounded like you were describing me. I hope to be still having the fun you are having when I'm 79. Great story!
Sam is the old guy I love talking to at the tire shop while waiting for my turn. Full of knowledge and experiences that people today couldn't even comprehend let alone imagine
You rock SAM! Everybody LOVES you. I just want to give you 99 man hugs! lol I'm 67 and have massive respect for you. You are a great addition to Cleetus's channel. I hope your loving life and God bless you. "Don't go changing" ❤ On top of all that sappy stuff, you do great work!
Sam, I know you're up there in there in the years. You can't leave us though. I don't know that I've ever seen a more real and humble man. You're adventure from the start has been absolutely amazing to follow. You appreciation and humbleness hits us all in our hearts. You're always positive and fearless when behind the wheel. Your happiness shines through and the entertainment you provide is absolutely priceless.
Thank you for this! As an avid follower of both 1320 and cleet, it's awesome to include Sam. He is definitely an added asset to the channel. Can't wait to see both crews next year on some drive and drag events!
Wow ! Thank's SAM, Thanks 1320... and Thanks to Cleetus also for making this happen and sharing this with me, "The Fan", the guy who's gonna show up next year at the drags and share a laugh with all y'all..
absolute legend of a fella, the stories sam has, the knowledge hes passing down to the younger guys, Cleetus is a hell of a dude, thank you kyle for everything!
Sam is a legend. From the first time I saw him pop up in a video I was impressed. That Cleetus crew keep him young and he keeps them honest. A perfect Gentleman. He is such a good fit in a good group of guys. Much Respect.
Golden wisdom! Thank you Sam for sharing and thanks 1320 for highlighting him! It's a privilege to listen to people that have lived more seasons of life than us "young folk lol" share wisdom they've learned from REAL experience! That's gold
Love my elders still learning a lot from them while they’re still kicking. You remind me of a friend of mine Charles Corriher from Hickory NC He owns a company called Construction Attachments and his father owned a Ford tractor dealership. Thanks for sharing yourself with us.
Dude, I love Cleets crew so much. I was so stoked when he brought Mr. Sam in. Like, every video of the boys and Mr. Sam having the best times of their lives makes me so happy.
Mr. Sam is just the best, I love how involved in the channel he is! Such a contagiously enthusiastic guy, and I love seeing how much he's appreciated by the crew.
Cleetus is one of my all time favorite channels. It reminds me of the fun we use to have growing up when we were kids. You guys ain't just a team your a family. We need more of this in America. Good fun with great friends.
Mr. Sam is a treasure I love hearing his stories, heck really whatever he has to say. Thanks Sam, Thank you Cleetus and thank you 1320 for giving Sam his own episode. More of us should look to the older generations now more than ever for guidance and their wisdom!
I’m still wondering “who is that old guy” haha 😂 love Mr. Sam

The Lord broke the mold when he made Mr. sam.. one of a kind gentleman l..
Mr. Sam is such a humble guy with so much life experience. I'm sure you have learned a thing or two from that gentleman.
You and me both, everyone needs to have a Mr sam their life❤
Stoked Sam gets his own episode on 1320! That's dope!
i didn't even realised it was 1320 channel and not cleetus lol

Mr. Same is a legend, super kind and genuine person. Happy he became a part of one of the best teams on youtube.
Cleetus and the crew have definitely added multiple years onto Sam's life.. Never see him not smiling
Sam is one of the most genuine people ever. Love seeing him on the channel and enjoying his retirement.
Thanks 1320 for sharing the story of Sam. He's the light/beacon of the McFarland team. Truly a wonderful individual.
Thanks Sam
Yes...I remember those days like they were yesterday!!
Mr Sam is the most lovable human being one can encounter.
Sam reminds me of my late grandpa. It brings a big smile to my face seeing him fooling around with the crew.
If your grandpa was anything like Sam he was a treasure, I’m sorry that he’s passed on. I’m not trying to preach to ya but I believe that you’ll see him again.
Thanks for this video... as someone who is a bit older (54), I enjoy seeing Mr. Sam! He shows that one is never too old to learn!
How could anyone not like Sam. He's one genuine dude, he keeps up with all those young kids. Way to go Sam way to go!
Mr. Sam is a national treasure, and for being 79 he sure is spry! The way he climbed up on Jackstands truck was hilarious!
Samuel is the grandfather everyone wants. What a personality and such a humble man for the whole Mcfarland team. I wish i had a grandfather with such al lot knowledge about old school drag racing and caburator race engines. I love that guy. ❤
Love Sam's positivity. He's such a great influence for the Cleetus crew and it's good to see them acknowledge his value.
Sam adds a certain spark to the Cleetus team that is so awesome. Gotta love the guy! Great video, guys!
I sure am gonna miss Uncle Sam when he’s gone. I think it’s awesome how they’ve adopted him and he fits in with the crew perfectly
Sams gonna live forever!
@@jimmycline4778 for sure!!! He'll I hope he lives another 60!
statistically more likely one of the other cleetus team memeber dies first before mr sam

I can't tell you how much I love and respect this man. He landed on the dream team at his age when already living a great life!
I just want to give you 99 man hugs! lol

As a Sam myself at almost 21 years old, I aspire to be like Mr. Sam when I grow up. What an amazing gentleman.
I'm an old guy and those are possibly the best words of wisdom I've seen on Utube....Love you Sam....

That's gold
I LOVE SAM! He reminds me of my grandfather(s) and gives me something to aspire to become in my retirement.
The fact that he's been on something like 10 TH-cam channels at this point is amazing.
Love my elders still learning a lot from them while they’re still kicking. You remind me of a friend of mine Charles Corriher from Hickory NC
He owns a company called Construction Attachments and his father owned a Ford tractor dealership. Thanks for sharing yourself with us.
Sam is a national treasure. I love meeting old people like him who have the most amazing stories and wealth of information to pass down.
Mr. Sam has the best attitude in the car scene!
Dude, I love Cleets crew so much. I was so stoked when he brought Mr. Sam in. Like, every video of the boys and Mr. Sam having the best times of their lives makes me so happy.
