Hey ive got a question if my power button doesnt work anymore can i just keep using the screw driver manually to open my pc will it like harm any of my components or break anything because im kind of scared but i already did power jump my pc and it work can i just keep using my screw driver for the rest of the pcs life span? thank you!
It's not gonna harm anything you just do the same connections the pins need for the pc to boot,it's just not practical.try to switch to reset button,plug the reset button cable to your power mobo pins and make your reset button your power button.
I'd do this once, boot to the bios (ESC, F2, DEL, etc. depending on motherboard), and change the BIOS power options to Power On automatically when it gets power so you dont have to worry about the power button. Keep the PowerSW connector unplugged so there's no conflict
@acrillix3159 wait what?? I need to do this but how does the pc get power to turn on after turning it off? Would I only need to hit the switch in the back?
The power button light in my HP Pavallion stopped glowing today, it normally glows blue, otherwhise everything is working fine. Is it a bad LED, or has the switch stopped working?, will I still be able to start my computer with the button if I need to?
Look for where it says PANEL on the motherboard, and search for other video of your exact MB. Or it will be in the manual if you have the original material of the build.
Wait so it could just be the CMOS battery? I have this issue right now and I press the button up to 20 times for the system to turn on. I even unplugged and re plugged, turned off the psu and back on. Takes up to 20 pushes on the power button for the system to start. Once it starts it boots all the way into windows as normal and doesn't say anything about time and date settings and this also shows that the bios hasn't reset since I have custome fan settings and on plain bios without fan settings system never starts cause it sees fan speed too low. What could the issue be. The system eventually does turn on and all seems to be well. Another thing to mention here is that I have tried to press the power button on my mobo which should start the PC but that doesn't work either, even though the motherboard logo is on and all the leds are on when connected to the mains.
@johngreydanus2033 it's 6-7 yo. I replaced pw sw with reset sw and started first try but didn't continue testing cause it was late. I'm at work now but I hope I just have a broken power button
@johngreydanus2033 it's not the button as I still have to press it 20 times for the system to turn on. I ordered a new psu and it's arriving tomorrow. Will try to swap it out and install a new cmos battery as well but it's a pain cause my motherboard has the cmos battery slot under the whole damn armor and I have to take everything apart. Maximus Formula VI sucks at this. As an update when my pc finally started it stopped seeing my kb and mouse and all the usb 3.0 ports don't work anymore. They still supply power as the kb is fully lit but system says no kb or mouse attached.

I had a bad PSU smh! It was working just a few hours ago!!
I replaced it with an older one and the PC turned on right away.
if none of these don't work just fidget with the power connector on your Motherboard and it should work, did with mine

Where does the power switch go?! It's out of motherboard by default & cant find its place to connect? It's disconnected...(the tiny 3 pin one)
