'I am obsessed with stories' ... I think that is what makes your channel above and beyond all other car channels. When I see an STG video come into my sub box I know it will be telling a story about the car, about how you feel being with it and driving it, with the focus on the car. Most other people focus on themselves around the car, buying a new one or modding it every other week to drive content, but you talk more about how cars make you feel and the ethos of them, and go for experiences and characterful cars over ownership. Combine that with the amazing cinematography and your funny and enthusiastic personality and you're an absolute winner. Bravo Sam as always and evolving your content so well! Its also really funny seeing places I walk around everyday pop up in the videos haha
@@seenthroughglass Did you consider buying the bigger Defender 110 model which has a larger boot space for your dog and other items? before buying the RS6?
Well when you get older…. You will see why the defender was a better purchase 0-60 in 5.1 seconds. Not bad for a behemoth with no launch control 🚀 and a beast 4WD system with locking differentials
And you would enjoy driving a hyper car more than a RS6….pretty obvious really. My personal opinion is that the Defender is cooler than an RS6….couldn’t bare that boring Audi interior and crack bang chav exhaust.

The defender 110 is great. Can't get over how amazing an "all around" vehicle it is. Take it in the city, on a night out, camping, doing black diamond trails in california, over land trip to utah. And then take the whole family deep into the snow. I worked for audi for 8 years. Drove them, repaired them, and yeah the rs6 is a great car. At one point I wanted one. But the defender was a more practical choice for me. And its been living up to its name. Nothing as compared to what yt channels fault it for.
The hand waving from 10:05 onwards is brilliant. In a weird way I can understand exactly what you mean about the Porsche, just from your hands, others probably think you're having a stroke ahaha
Any other TH-camr would've made 2 to 3 videos on the Defender and the rally Porsche. That's why I love your channel. Not criticizing the other channels, they've got their charm, you've got your own. But the exploration of car stories and classic cars is what makes me love this channel. Cheers!
I appreciate the mix of old and new cars, and their stories as I'm sure many of your regular viewers do! Thank you Sam for all your hard work putting these videos together.
Absolutely the correct choice, as an American I’m still baffled as to why this side of the pond still prefers S/CUV’s. I’ve had quite a few wagons and would never trade the driving dynamics for a few extra inches of height.
I feel like Sam has the most balanced TH-cam channel around. Don't get me wrong, I love other obvious channels, but when someone buys two V12 GT cars in a week you start to lose the sense of what's special and what isn't. With Sam and him admitting that a 120k RS6 is a big deal, you remember that Sam is more 'humble' in a sense. He gets the opportunity to experience tonnes of sick cars, but only owns 2-3 at a time. And that's what I love. You really 'bond' with each individual car, follow all the stories and appreciate less expensive cars in a good way. That's why #weLoveSTG.
Great video as always and I really enjoy both STG and BTG content so thank you. One thing that is really putting me off, however, is that you seem to have stopped using definite articles when talking about car models (in particular ‘the’ defender) and I find it really puts me off listening to your reviews. Thanks 👍🏼
After over 1 month of using your travel mug, I love it!!! It doesn’t hold it warm for hours but for around one hour which is perfect to drink the coffee relaxed. The pods are really high quality and taste exceptionally good (are just too expensive to import).

Congrats! I love the channel but I think we can agree I'm glad the search for the new daily is over. Now MORE 360 content!!!! :)
This car and yes the story behind it are wonderful! I quite literally watch your videos just to hear what you are up to next! I have been out in the garage all afternoon reassembling my engine (‘74 914, twin Webbers and should be fun) and getting ready to test fire the engine for the first time….took a break to watch this video. So glad I did.
I was sold on the 90 until I saw how much little trunk space was available. Even though I don't have kids is not enough. The salesman that was driving the demo on daily basis had the rear seats down so he can use the trunk space for groceries shopping. I ordered the 110 but wish they had an 100 version right in between lol
I went out and bought a nespresso machine especially for STG coffee. Highly recommended! Strong, but not bitter, smooth buttery tones and a sweetness over the top. Delightful!

Can’t wait for the road trips with the RS6 and hope the 360 restoration is going well Sam. It’s going to be like a new car. Any plans to going to the Nurburgring or Monaco.
Yes Yes, and Yes, Love the design and proportions of the 90, BUT why couldn't they configure the internal layout for some actual storage??? I had a Explorer Sport 2 door which I (and my wife) loved - it had close to the same behind the rear seat storage as the 4 door - ashame!

But the 90 is a bit of a joke for space. Then they got rid of that beautiful green Landrover oval badge - why? My current thoughts on a replacement is the BMW X5 5.0e plug in hybrid. Comments below asking what’s makes the Defender great? This goes back to your point, it’s whatever makes you smile, and in my circumstances I could (and do) use the Def P400 X as my daily, absolutely love it, but yes it has flaws and won’t be for everyone. I’m also in Richmond and you almost drove past my house 🤓👍
I have sort of an opposite question: Why do you like modern cars so much? To me, cars made within the last 4-5 years are boring. They sound bad, they are emotionless (for the most part) and they're ugly. What is it about them that interest you when you very clearly have a huge appreciation for cars that aren't "the latest and greatest"? I noticed in the video where you delivered your BMW to Tony that you mentioned something about it not looking like "the latest car" or something like that. Is that necessarily a bad thing? This isn't a snarky comment. I'm genuinely interested cause I (for the most part ;) ) enjoy your content a lot!
I have a theory that cars are getting so pricey, people need a one or two car garage. So modern performance cars have to try to be a jack of all trades, comfy and fun. When you make a car more comfy and useable, you tend to take away a tiny bit of pleasure factor. Think suspension, steering and weight. If your idea of emotion is a loud interior noise, the hardest suspension and the heaviest, most communicative steering, then I’m sorry, you’re probably one of 100 new BMW M5, Audi RS3 or Porsche 911 customers who want that. The other 99 want a useable everyday car that is competent enough to make them smile. As for sound, it’s an indirect, unfortunate consequence of environmental legislation. Before you point to laws directed at vehicle noise, driving irresponsibly through urban areas is not gonna help you one bit. Think the recent NYC exhaust noise law. Then again, noise isn’t everything and once again, there’s not enough of us to make enough noise, so that legislators can see what we like. Design is totally subjective and this is where I bring in the biggest factor into why I think you’re thinking the way you are, nostalgia. You and I gravitate towards cars that we grew up loving, so looking at the design of a new version of an old favourite, you’re gonna naturally gravitate to the old one. Thinking about older cars you read about, dreamed about will naturally make you think how much has changed for the worse in the modern day. The past is the past, we can celebrate it, but we cannot cling onto it, otherwise we don’t move on and make ourselves sad.
Sam, I get where you are coming from with this, we needed a dogmobile and looked at the LWB and the boot in that is not big enough for a reasonably big dog (Rhodesian Ridgeback) either. I hear a lot of comments about Land Rover reliability however we have had several LR/RR and they have never needed anything but regular servicing. We nmust be lucky and not get 'Friday afternoon' cars I guess.
Sam may not have 15 cars, 2 hypercars and a mansion, but the quality of the videos, the passion and the energy exceeds every other automotive TH-camr. Excited for the rs6 content!
