My father in law did this with the next door neighbor kids. He had been a grandfather figure in their lives from a young age and took them everywhere with him from children up to near adulthood. After that he started sexualizing them and making comments about their bodies and who they probably slept with when it came to boyfriends he saw them with-an unnatural interest in their sex lives considering they were just little girls that grew up alongside him and he should see them as such. It was so gross to me. Especially when he paused talking to us to see what one was wearing when she went out in a dress that showed her legs and then commented on how sometimes she would bend over to mess with the dog in something like that and he made the thumbs up sign with an excited face. I wanted to vomit. I told my husband that our daughter wasn’t allowed to be alone with him regardless of the family connection. When we were around him I simply waited to see how he would behave and watched my child like a hawk. Eventually the inevitable happened and he started commenting on her developing body and romantic (but not sexual yet) relationships. That was it for me. She wasn’t allowed near him again until he was dying in hospice. And then we were all together to see him off for my husband’s sake. Thank god he is nothing like his dad. I wouldn’t have him if he was.

Same here I live in the UK and I believe it’s 14-16 in a lot of Europe. But that still doesn’t make it right for a 45yo man to sexualise 16yo who had known as a child.
