I’m happy to announce that I took and passed my boards today. Your words of advice and the amazing community you have, helped me stay on track! Thank you!!!!
Ki 26 I must say. Our professor definitely covered it all and more. There are concepts that are a must. And then random stuff. But over all the ARRT is not there to trick you. They questions are very direct.
Rey bro you gotta keep this up. You fill a void for instructional videos that are current AND well made. I especially like you giving us multiple camera views simultaneously really helps me conceptualize and learn rather than memorize from other youtube videos I've found for rad techs. I've been looking ever since I started Rad tech school because i had a long commute and I would listen to content while in the car. Worked great for my anatomy and physiology classes and labs, but rad tech positioning videos not so much. The videos I've found are short and outdated. After searching for a long time I'm so glad to find your positioning videos especially with so much uncertainty about whether or not clinical sites will continue to accept us students. ARRT's board of governors is deliberating over whether or not to allow an increased number of simulated competencies in case that we are sent home again (I just got back to clinical after being sent home in March). Hopefully they will approve it and we won't need it...but bro. While the videos I could find online used to augment my education they have become so much more important. After clinical sites closing to students and courses devolving into zoom meetings my education became an online experience and I fear it will be forced to return to it in the near future. That's why I'm putting this all out there Rey is because we need you and your videos. Best case scenario you augment my education, but I fear that the more likely reality is that I will be out of the classroom and clinical setting---back at home sitting in front of a computer trying to learn how to position patients correctly and then be ready academically for the registry exam and professionally for when I DO beast that test. So please keep it up brother. Grateful to you from the most inferior of my cardiac tissue
So glad i chanced upon your channel. I am a radiologic technologist for more than 10 years now. And i have handled different modalities all through those years. Im currently assigned in MRI. And i'm so happy i get to refresh my x-ray "knowledge" with your videos coz i haven't done x-ray for more than 5years! 🤭 Keep it coming! All the best to you man! 🙏
Enjoyed your journey while I was on mine through the navy and now I got my ARRT a month ago and got a job as a civilian x ray tech in my top pick trauma hospital. Cheers man.
Thank you for the videos. I’m a radiology student as well and in clinical I kept making little mistakes but watching your videos I felt more comfortable.
videos of inbed patients CXR and AXR. like determine when one should be doing it supine cxr or when do it erect sitting up. i haven't done hospital work in a long time (i work mainly in outpatient clinics and qualified a good couple of years) and i was barely exposed to hospitals during my intern years and seeing videos these are a good refresher for me. it has been a while. may the gods bless you. I stumbled on your channel thanks to youtube algorithms. Soon enough a lot of Universities, hospitals and companies will reach out to you. You will be worldwide famous.
Mannnn.... that means a lot! I appreciate you. A vlog though huh? I’ve always thought of it. Would have to make sure it’s ok with my job or if i can avoid HIPPA stuff. Thanks for the feedback!
God bless. I had found your channel and I was watching some of your intro videos before I even knew if I had gotten into the x ray program at my school. Glad to say I got in and will hopefully be starting clinicals next fall. Will definitely be watching more videos to help memorize the positions and get better at them!
WAIT!! What were the techniques being there was space between cassette and pt what was the length of the tube???? With the roll up what if the patient has totally fractured that joint how would I put anything under?????
I am curious about the way you guess collimation. If you collimated to the size of the cassette, the only positioning guide would be the iliac crests. If that was done and if the patient could be touched, the lead could have actually prevented primary beam to the testicles. The shoot across lateral can be done with the grid used totally differently - with the grid lines horizontal. That would reduce the set exposure but it would also mean centring off centre of the grid. That can be done but requires an understanding of how to use grids properly.
Since I’m In my 3rd week of clinical, the different X-ray positions are more useful given I’m at a fast past hospital. We also do the frog method as well. Great informative video! Thanks Rey!
Legally he can’t really discuss what is on the exam but he can speak to points that you might want to focus on. Every exam is different. My exam I got a lot of fluoro question (and I don’t even do fluoro at my hospital) and a classmate got a lot of skull questions. They are all different. My advice for students is to invest in Rad review.
In the oilfield and truly want to go back to school only 21 and I’ve been watching all your videos hopefully this year I can start some of the pre-course Gonna be a good two years
This helps so much! I tried to comp on a x-table hip but that didn't work. I didn't get help afterwards on how to improve on it, so this video helps me out a lot. I'm feeling confident to comp on the x-table hip, now! Thank you for your videos!
@@XRAYREY It really is, and I didn't want to bother the tech who was watching over me since there was so much for the day. So I tried seeing what I did wrong and this showed what I needed to improve on. Your videos help out a lot and hope to see more content from you!
great video!! just a tip, if you position the patient the opposite way on the table it would make it easier to position the tube to get the right hip cross table lateral rather than having to squeeze the tube behind the table with all of the other objects.
i am currently a 3rd yr radtech student in Philippines. im done with my positioning 1 and 2 :) watching this vid brings back memories hahaha can't remember all of them tbh
Hey man when you do the cross table hip do you still try to internally rotate the leg 15* via building the hip up like you did in the video or do you shoot as is if you see that there’s a suspected fracture of the femur on the full pelvis.
Hey Rey! Currently a first year in my third semester (summer session). Really appreciate your videos and can't wait for more! These really help out in studying and retaining for clinicals and my tests. I wanted to ask if you have tips for portables/mobiles? I've had my fair share of chest and abdomen portables during clinicals but still kind of struggle with placement etc. Thank you for all you do!
I’ve already comped my lower extremities so I didn’t really need this video, but the second I saw that Danny Miller I had to pop in and say it’s still my least favorite exam. I’ve done so many of them in PACU and I’d still rather die lol
Hi Rey! Love your videos, I find them very helpful as I’m a first year student. I’ve been struggling to get my KUB, could you post a video regarding the positing for this?... Thanks!
All i did was trusted in what my college gave us. We used correctech and those yellow and white Lang books. Also as a class we bought and used mock exams on ASRT.
Hi X-ray Rey, happy to announce I passed the certification exam! You really encouraged me when I was feeling burned out. Thank you for making these videos!
Hey Rey! I know you haven’t posted in a while and I understand that you have been mad busy with the pandemic. For the future when you find the time do you mind revealing the types of questions that are in the ARRT exam??? Or any type of study guide/strategies you used? Thanks!
Aye Rey what’s up, I got a question for you... is being an X-ray tech worth it ?? Is it hard?? I’m thinking about getting into it but I have no idea what I’m getting myself into..
absolutely worth it! I am currently going into my senior year of x-ray school and I love it. Definitely is not easy to get through school and clinicals but if you have a positive attitude and a solid work ethic you should have no problem. I have even managed to work about 20-30 hours a week all while going through school. The pay is nice as well once you graduate too.
In school they’ll teach you 40 SID for the boards, but in real life most techs get max distance to insure we get the whole pelvis without clipping. I go for around 50 SID
Hey! Thank you SO much for making these videos! I am currently in my first year of schooling for X-ray and these videos are really helpful. Possible video idea for you! What kind of math do rad techs use on a daily basis? Next semester I have a radiology physics course and I am wondering what kind of algebra/geometry should I start to catch up on? Even if you don't do a video on it, I'd still love to know! Thanks for all your info and videos!!
You’re so very welcome! Would you believe me if i said not much? To keep it simple I would say just basic multiplication and division. You’ll use it when getting your ideal S#. However, you’ll need to learn the other tough physics stuff to pass your board exam. And in reality you’ll never use it IRL on a daily
I took my boards this year, use them both. The videos in Rad Tech Bootcamp are so helpful and the quizzes on Rad Review will get you overly prepared. I stayed at like and 85 percent average on Rad Review and got a 95 on my boards.
I was actually questioning your SID on that lateral hip. That looks like 60" or greater, what mAs are you using being that far away? I angle the patient and keep the plate and tube in a perpendicular orientation to the table. You can also angle a stretcher and shoot a cross table hip on the wall buckey.
Welcome aboard! They’re my personal images I’ve taken on the floor. Just as long as there is no PI on the images, I can use them for educational purposes.
That’s a good one! tbh i can’t think of one lol I think that has to do with me having prior experience. But I’ll put that on my notes of future videos and think about it. Thanks!
Mr.Kurwa As Low As Reasonably Achievable, right? I’ve seen sooo many xrays from my local hospital while I was volunteering. I always thought they were really clear and defined. Now I wanna see what they look like outside of the US 😂!!
I don’t like how you generalized all of us in the US. There’s techs like me who take pride in being a professional and practice ALARA. I do understand there are lazy techs out there who don’t care, and that is ridiculous. I don’t fit that description. But that’s why i made a channel like this to inspire and recruit quality people to change that.
