8 year old me got G1 Trailbreaker as his first Transformer toy in 1984, so I have a massive soft spot for the character. So of course I was excited when I saw Hoist because I knew there'd be a Trailbreaker remold/repaint, and I'm actually super excited to get him. He looks even better than I expected, and even though I'm gonna hit some parts of him with silver paint (the shoulder gun/shield emitter) he looks great right out of the box.
I'm a huge fan of Trailbreaker! Back in the G1 episode, "Megatron's Master Plan, part 2," the autobots would have been destroyed by the sun if it hadn't been for Trailbreaker's force field saving them. I really can't wait to find him in stores.

My only issues with this figure is the hands being shown while in vehicle mode and they could have made the fenders be able to fold for robot mode for the arms. To me that would have been alot better

When Earthrise revealed the two new figures, I wanted to get Sunstreaker and skip Trailbreaker. I didn't really have any interesting in Trailbreaker, I was fine with just Hoist. But now, after this in hand review, my interesting in getting Earthrise Trailbreaker was peak. He looks awesome.
Same. I hated the hollowness. Then my wife saw it at the store and bought it for me. When i started playing with it all the issues i had with him were gone. Now he is one of my favorites. I wanted cliffjumper badly. And when i got it, well let me just say, he is severely overrated.
I got hoist and it wasn't my favorite mold. Everyone says he's big, but I found him to be hollow and top heavy. I wasn't a fan of the arm flaps. The arms stick out like sore thumbs in vehicle mode as well, dragging roughly on the ground which makes it almost impossible to get it rolling on all four wheels.
I dont want to spend more money but I might as well sell off my old brittle vintage and get these awesome things in place. The cartoon is the look I love most.
because earthrise remolds are way better than siege remolds, because they usually have a lot less fuss to worry about in terms of looking like an earth vehicle
Looks pretty good, but if I can nit-pick a little....... I really prefer his old red eyes/red visor over the blue that he has here. Guess I'll either break out the paints, or wait for a Toyhax sticker set.
THIS is a good partsforming. Optional and just to help the figure to look better, not your shitty Ironhide or Cliffjumper. He's more complete than Hoist, I'm probably going to buy him
No offense to Hoist fans, but I couldn't care less about that character. However, I love Trailbreaker. I bought the Combiner Wars Trailbreaker just because I wanted a version of him so badly. I am going to enjoy this new Earthrise toy a lot.
this is the fig im waiting on the most. it does kinda bug me though that the forcefield generator isnt centered over his head like it is with hoist. TBH im baffled as to WHY he's got a rear mounted blaster too actively preventing that. but its a small complaint. i'll deffo be getting this lad.
Why do certain car transformers have names based on the vehicles function or something- Beachcomber(beach buggy) ,trailbreaker(jeep), hoist(tow truck). Etc

Trailbreaker is such an underrated Autobot and has been a favorite of mine for a while. There's no way I could pass up this toy.

Trailbreaker has always been one of my favorite G1 designs. He has a really unique color scheme for an Autobot.
When I first saw Trailbreaker I thought it was a Gobot.

If it’s parts forming then it’s essentially just building the figure instead and it’s not really transforming

Damn, I just wish they could've added a hinge on the panels behind the arms. I dislike them on Hoist, I hate them on Trailbreaker.

The partsforming on the back doesn't bother me as much as the "sleeves" or "wings" on the arms. I wish those folded away or came off.

I really like the Hoist figure and been looking forward to Trailbreaker as well after getting it.
I never understood why a Transformer would use part of their own body as a shield.
This guy has a place ready next to my well loved G1 Trailbreaker. After getting hoist I had a feeling this one was gonna be a winner.
I like Trailbreaker's body and weapons, but I like Hoist's head more. I'll probably pop and swap the heads.

its definitely possible to get it rolling. the arms doesn't scratch the ground. u just need to push the arms more inside the trunk, as per intended
pretty sure you're mistransforming it if the arms are dragging on the ground lol. Both of my Hoist and Trailbreaker rolls smoothly

Maybe they don’t care about it. The bot mode looks a lot worse than the Siege one and it doesn’t really look like an Earth tank in alt mode.
