As a fellow crocheter learning to knit, I found combination knitting really fluid. I learned from watching Drowning in Yarn’s tutorial over and over since he also holds yarn continental. It’s sort of the same idea of the back post double crochet, if you’ve ever used that. And wowowow that crochet hook bind off trick! Definitely trying that on my next knit
Loved the entire video! I was also a crocheter first and i use the hook very often in the knitting: when I need to pull up stitches, binding off, connecting 2 pieces...
I'm also a Continental Knitter and I learned to purl one way but now I use the Norwegian Purl method, I feel like it makes the purl stitches more even with the Knitted stitches, before it didn't use to look so even for me. I lerned with the videos of Carlos and Arne. It definetly took getting used to but I feel like it's more seamless this way!
this is what people keep telling me… the question is really whether I have the willpower to thoroughly learn and become comfortable with norwegian purling haha bc right now it’s so awkward
I hope that you are so proud of yourself! As a parent to three teenagers I hope that they are able to do wonderful things in the coming years with college.
It’s such a beautiful campus to hang out and knit on! Thanks for being an inspiration to this knitter working on her first sweater… harvest cardigan by Tin Can Knits. Loving their app! What’s the ivory colored yarn you’re using please?
thank you for watching! I am using Jubilee Delightfully Fine in the color Beloved Pearl held with beige angora mohair (I got from amazon but would not reccomend - I can give you other mohair recs if you want!)
Your purling style is similar to the Portuguese knitting movement… Staci at Very Pink Knits on YT has a series teaching that and it’s very easy and calming to me. People who knit that style prefer purling to knitting, and will knit in the round inside out to avoid the knit stitch 😊
I never thought of using the other needle as a lifeline, such a great idea! I'll try it next time.
haha I did it bc I didn’t want to deal with getting other supplies and it turned out great! lmk if you like doing it :)

I actually usually bind off via a hook because its way easier and ive been crocheting for way longer
I never use the normal bind off. Such a pain and mine always ends up sooooo tight. Sewn bind offs all the way!
I totally agree. I want to count rows, not length!
yes!!
Congratulations on your college graduation!
thank you!!

yes! I watched this video too - I don't really want to wrap the yarn around my neck though every time I switch to a purl row :/
@@alexjames_fiber I use a lightbulb pin in my shirt at my left shoulder for the yarn. I also knit this way as well as purl…
@@esalenchik ah ha! smart - maybe I need to try!
