    I really enjoy your videos!
    So about your questions:
    1. I would wait with blocking the beanie for now. I think it looks great and couldn't really tell that it was unblocked anyways. Wear it like this until it needs to be washed and block it then!
    2. I don't see an issue with making that crochet tutorial video. If the stitch pattern is the only thing that remains the same in the garment, then it's different enough. The stitch is commonly used and this type of beach cover up isn't a new thing either.
    3. The buttons! I have no clue about the button infrastructure in America, but I'm usually more successful going to smaller stores (yarn or fabric stores) to buy buttons. My country also has old fashioned specialised button/notion stores, but that might not be as common elsewhere.
    I hope this helps!

thank you for all your input! waiting to block the beanie until I need to wash it sounds like a perfect plan. unfortunately I don’t live near any stores that carry buttons other than Michael’s (big box craft store) the closest yarn store is 3 hrs away! but I’m traveling soon so maybe I’ll be able to find something

love the use of drop stitches as an interesting design element :)) i've also seen a few tops (like the deima's air blouse) that use it to emulate a rib stitch! if you think u might wear it more as a little flowy top (where the thickness of the acrylic won't matter as much, wear-comfort-wise) you could consider smth like that if it sounds up your street :)

I feel like you’d be fine making a video about your version of the mesh coverup. There are only so many crochet stitches, no one can be 100% unique with it. You can always point people to buy the seamed version if they prefer that/as your inspiration.

Florence step by step sweater was the first garment I ever made!!! I loved it so much, but newbie mistakes were made. I understood Marino wool yarn to grow, so I made the sweater exactly to fit (before blocking). What do you suppose happened? I'll give you a hint, the merino wool yarn was a blend with nylon. It shrunk with blocking!!! I put it in the goodwill box and gave it away. *sniffles*

oh no! I didn’t know that could happen… so thank you for that information! do you think you’ll knit another one?

Great podcast, Alex! I recently discovered The Unapologetic Knitter podcasts. She has a Playlist of 51 videos called "Knit Talk with a Tech Editor", where she talks all about modifying knitting patterns so that they fit you! I'm currently binge-watching them! My vote on the hat - block it, but don't be aggressive about it. On the crochet beach cover up, I think you're ok to develop a pattern of your own even though it's inspired by the person's. Since the design is totally different, you're not copying hers...! You're just inspired by hers.

I have suggestions for off weeks podcast. How about a skill building video. Like, what is brioche knitting and how do you do it? Or what are "magic numbers" and which ones do you need to make garments? How do you knit short rows? stuff like that for beginners walking the knitting journey beside you could be fun. Especially since you are an engineer and I imagine process oriented. I'm a CPA, and can tell you that my engineer's tax returns are delivered with their source documents impeccably presented and ordered. I love my engineer/architect clients.

this is such a great idea! I actually already have a brioche tutorial situation on my channel. I certainly love teaching/explaining things. I was worried abt tutorials because I just started knitting but I like the perspective that I’m a beginner so I know what might work for other beginners and we can all learn together :)

Maybe measure the beanie, block it and just press it out with your hands to the same dimensions, therefore, the yarn will bloom but the size won’t change 😊
