The A100 is a range of compact vans and trucks manufactured and marketed from 1964 to 1970 by Chrysler Corporation under the Dodge marque in the United States and the Fargo marque in Canada.
The A100 competed with the Ford Econoline, Chevrolet Van, Chevy Corvair Greenbrier, and the Volkswagen Type 2. The range included a pickup truck and van, both with a "forward control" design. Placing the driver on top of the front axle with the engine between the front seats, just behind the front wheels makes it a "cab over" vehicle. The unibody vehicles used a short 90 in (2,286 mm) wheelbase. An A108 was also available from 1967 to 1970, with a longer 108 in (2,743 mm) wheelbase. The A108 was popular with camper conversion companies.[4] A substantially modified, Hemi-powered A100 wheelstanding exhibition pickup called the "Little Red Wagon" driven by Bill "Maverick" Golden was a popular drag strip attraction from the 1960s to the early 2000s
    Engines
    1964-1966 170 in3 (2.8 L) Slant-6 I6, 101 hp (75 kW)
    1970 198 in3 (3.2 L) Slant-6 I6, 125 hp (93 kW)
    1964-1970 225 in3 (3.7 L) Slant-6 I6, 145 hp (108 kW)
    1965-1966 273 in3 (4.5 L) LA V8
    1967-1970 318 in3 (5.2 L) LA V8, 210 hp (160 kW)
    L-Series trucks
From 1966 to 1971, Dodge built L-Series medium-duty Cabover Engine trucks with a tilting forward-control cab based on the forward body of the A-100.
The Dodge A100 was featured in the American television series That '70s Show episode "Red's Last Day", as Michael Kelso's new van.[8] It also appeared in the movie Cars as the character Dusty Rust-eze, in the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, as well as the comedy Stealing Harvard. An A100 appeared in many different colors in the 1960s Batman TV series. More often than not, it was the preferred getaway vehicle of each episode's villain.
The Dodge Little Red Wagon was a famous exhibition drag racing truck introduced in 1965 based on the A100 pickup.

Nice build Chris! The bike parts are from a little bike called the ding-a-ling that was included with the original version!
As a matter of fact the phone booth was originally molded in plastic!

Chris The Touch Tone Terror Was originally Released By IMC in 1966 as 4 in 1 kit ! IMC was Sued By Monogram over Aircraft parts Copyright and Was out of Business by 1974 However Lindberg bought Some of IMCs tooling to reissue Little Red Wagon under Lindberg Spool ahead AMT decided to Reissue as Touch Tone Terror with IMCs Box Art except for Adding AMT logo on Box. Ungortunately The original Clear Plastic Tool for the Phone Booth was lost Perhaps Never to Be Seen AGAIN This Reissue had Catdnoard Phone Booth instead 😢. I've Bought This Kit on Pre-Order & Pre-Paid for it. Love The Box Art Cheers To Round 2 for Exciting Box Art to Keep Hobby Alive

That weird Chevy truck with the side drop was originally a Corvair 600. But after Ford paid Ralph Nader to write a book about how deadly the Corvair was (not a mention of the exploding Ford Pintos) the truck had become a top seller - so they changed the name and badging to Chevrolet Greenbrier. I like this Dodge A100 model a lot and the stock engine is a nice choice. Thanks, Chris...

      @dixonhayes7504 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

That doesn't match the real world timeline. The Corsair Greenbrier was named early in the run, and the reason the Pinto wasn't mentioned in Nader's book was it hadn't been manufactured yet in 1965 when he wrote it.

    • @r.a.monigold9789
      @r.a.monigold9789 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

At 78, my timeline sometimes slips - but the Pinto was in developement when the book was written and the danger had already been pssed off to the actuarians. Yes, I was there.

Here's a hot news flash for you. Ralph Nader EXTENDED the run of the Corvair. By three years. Chevrolet planned to kill the Corvair after 1966, but kept it going through 1969 because they didn't want to look like they were caving to Nader. If you want to be mad at one person for the death of the Corvair, you might want to look at Lee Iacocca. He killed the Corvair by designing a car that absolutely ate Corvair's lunch in sales, called the Mustang. That's why Chevrolet was going to kill Corvair after 1966, because they had their Mustang knockoff (Camaro) ready to go for 1967.

The Corvair pickup was known as the Rambside although Chevy did build a version without the ramp for a couple of years. The Greenbriar was a van based on the same "chassis" as the pickup. I don't think I've ever seen a model of either one. AMT did do the 65-69 Corvair coupes (Monza and Corsa)

I had a high school friend who had a '68 Hemi Roadrunner, but usually when he drove to school, he drove his dad's '66 A-100 with a 273. That was MORE than enough engine to melt the rear tires on the truck ! BTW, it was the ONLY V-8 A100 I ever saw, as most of those trucks had slant 6's.

On the original release the extra parts are for building a phone booth bike, I think they lost the mold for the phone booth, that was clear plastic, I wish the new kit had it,
I picked up these kit last weekend, I'm going to build it stock and putting a slant 6 in it from the new amt 330 dodge kit

My favorite truck ... (I own a real one). I bought the 'Little Red Wagon' kit, and built it to look like my actual truck (including red, silver, and blue metalflake paint). My truck came with the slant six, and currently is in the hands of a fabricator, putting a small block 360 ci V8 inside the dog house, for driving on the street. Regarding the Race Wheelstander trucks, besides the 'Little Red Wagon' there was also the 'Chuck Wagon' and during that wheelstanding era, I think there were five or six A100 wheel standers. If YT had the capacity to share photos, I could show both my real truck, and my model, which is a dead ringer for my real one. It is surprisingly a difficult kit ... with door tolerances and such.

Hello Chris and plastic modeling friends! I'm passionate about DODGE trucks. AMT was super kind in relaunching this wonderful LINDBERG Kit, which is super detailed. Nowadays, you no longer see KITS with this detail. Here in Brazil it is difficult to get kits like this, firstly because of our currency, which is very devalued to the dollar. I got a Lindbergh A 100 that I'm still going to ride! I really want this new AMT kit! A big hug from Collector Cleber.

Chris Yes! IMC kits Were Targeted to Advanced Builders Not Beginners They Had FEATURES like opening Doors Steerable Suspensions Flip Noses &. Rear Engine Canopies as Build Challenges. Word of Caution Careful Attention to Door Hinge installation in Instructions if Hinges get Flipped Wrong way the Doors Won't Work. Many Many Beginners Made the Mistake with This kit and Just Rnded up Gluing Doors Shut 😢

The original release had a styrene phone booth. Maybe the mold was lost.
The Chevy pickup with the side door was the Corvair Greenbriar. Now, I’d take the pickup, but if someone would release one of the Greenbriars in the van version, I’d die happy.

I had a lovely talk with Round 2 this morning.
Both Customer service, and the Sales department got in touch with me.
As you have said before these are preproduction kits . Also there's only so many to go around to media, and illustrators like you. The sales person agrees 1000% on two or three kits for you to review and build on video. Both or all three versions built of the kits is great advertising. Also that you have such a large following that it's sure to sale thousands more models a month.
    Long story short,
Customer service got with Sales who got with me.
It's being sold to the higher-ups. Hopefully something will come out of it!!!!
    Anyways I tried!!!

    Tip,

Dose it slow in the instructions, that can make the phone booth with a trike option.
That's why there is a banana seat, and a front fork, and the carriage lights for the back of the phone booth, with a small engine in the back.
This was in the original IMC version that I have 2 of.

Chris uses Plastruct Bondene for his builds. He'll dump it into a bottle with a wider base than the PB bottle to prevent accidental tip over.

Just a painting note for everyone. The A100 was unibody so the black painted "frame" would be body color.
Round 2 missed the mark not retooling the plastic accessories.

Chris The Problem You had With The Hinges For the Doors ? Instructions are Errored in How Hinges Go the Little Pieces Which Attach to inner door Panel are Flipped Wring Way on Instructions You Must Flip them over In other Words the Bump of Eyelet on Hinge Must Face Out Instead of on As Instructions Show. Which is Why your Hinges Didn't Work. Again this Was Done intentionally By IMC. They Knew Advanced Builders would Spot thus Flaw and Assemble Correctly Anyway. Yeah it's A Pain to Figure out. But Use Thus Tip ti Add ke Wheel Stander Version of the Kit I Bet You Doors Work Also use Tape To Test Fit parts assembly to Ensure it Works 5 That Assembly is Correct then Remove tape and Glue it Same Way

In the original version, the phone booth was all clear plastic.
They also forgot to include the instructions for the Ding-A-ling, the tri-cycle, but it looks like all of the Parts are there, they should have made phone booth base out of plastic

Too bad they didn't make the phone booth built up out of plastic.

Cool truck build that I'd like to tackle, but that body mold sure seems worn out. The perfectionist in me would be cleaning up that body for a long time.

The Chevy truck of this time was called the Corvair. Is this possibly the Jo-Han kit re-released under AMT?

The Little Red Wagon was originally an IMC kit then Lindbergh now AMT reissued this the Touch Tone Terror. This kit has all the parts in it to build the Little Red Wagon except the decals.

I built the original Little Red Wagon by IMC molded in red. Then a year or so later the IMC Touch Tone Terror molded in white with the same box art as seen here except for the AMT logo replacing the IMC. Both trucks suffered in the '71 earthquake where I lived. I still have them in a box somewhere and have the Touch Tone box that I used for storing decal sheets. I may have to buy a new Touch Tone and maybe an L700 truck to go with it. Build the Touch Tone mostly stock with a big block, like a 440 for a shop truck, maybe to tow race cars. Back in the 1970s there was a family around the corner that had a Class C motor home on an A 300 dually chassis. This same cab, 440 engine, auto trans. He towed his circle track race cars with it. Might be able to make one using an MPC Open Road Camper.

Great job Chris ! The Little Red Wagon can be built stock also, But as a Push Truck what's a little light on the roof was for and a wooden push bumper for pushing the Top Fuel Dragsters back in the day, The Touch Tone Terror first came out 1970 by IMC to replace the Little Red Wagon that was Originally introduced in 1966, It was only out for one year, By 1971 the Little Red Wagon was back out in the Auto World catalog all the way up until the early 1990s, And then disappeared over to Japan through a company called Union, Somehow Lindberg found the molds and redid the Little Red Wagon and the L-700 Cabover Tractors and trailers, I never understood why they never put the gas cap on a quarter panel and no real A100 came with a Chrome grille, they should be white along with the bumpers, But they did have the option of chrome bumpers, And another thing the battery box goes behind the driver's seat also, Missing is the stock Gas pedal, Brake pedal and clutch pedals for the 273 V8, In reality most Telephone Trucks were Vans, They were called display Vans they had windows on the passenger side and the other side was paneled where they had cabinets mounted for the tools and equipment, Most Telephone Trucks were Army Green color or White, The hinges you installed the big ones under the dashboard first then you put one small hinge on let it hang in place that way there you can glue the other hand to the door and slide the two onto the main hinge with both small hinges that were there the doors will open and close without any problem, I've been building these trucks since 1966, it's nice to see you blacked out around the windshield and around the back window because the center post is actually a strip of rubber most modelers think it's metal and painted to match the truck, also the vent window frames should be painted black, And I own a real Dodge A-100 Pickup Truck and I also was a crew member for Bill Maverick Golden's the Original 67 Little Red Wagon, The fourth one in a series of exhibition Wheelstander's.

The Little Red Wagon and Touch Tone Terror were kits from the IMC Model Company, 1966 the Little Red Wagon was first introduced, In 1970 it was replaced with the Touch Tone Terror Wheelstanding Pickup Truck/Telephone Truck Or Stock, And then it disappeared, And the Little Red Wagon was put back in 1971 in all the model catalogs such as Auto World all the way up until the Late 1980s, It came back out 1994 through the Lindberg brand Model Company.
