That's exactly how I felt. I feel the problem is Disney was unwilling to have a main character that is villainous. Because the changes to his character appear the moment his show began. Not in Mando season 2, but right after he guned down Bib in cold blood.
@@ryotasekai Which, lazy and bably written as it would have been, would at least be consistent, but like I said, he doesn't display any such changes in Mando Season 2. But you can't say he changed after murdering Bib either, cause we see him in the flashbacks, right after the Sarlacc, and he is a saint there too.
Bud we are getting acolyte. The whole point of the show is boba growing up. After 2 decades of ruthless murder ofcourse we expect an older Boba to reexamine his life
The problem is Disney being too frightened to try. They were scared of having a brutal crimelord, so they tried desperatley to make him look more noble, and in doing so pretty much ruined the very thing that made him appealing.
@Julian R legit makes me wonder what Jon Favreau was smoking smoking making this. The writing was so fucking awful you'd think 2 completely different pol wrote that and the mandalorian. To make it worse temura Morrison even spoke to Jon about his issues with the scripts and basically got told to do his job
@@TY-km8hj My theory is outside interference. The guy does well and continues to do well in one endeavour, then in what should be the exact same endeavour (but now with someone else interest in the project) completely messes it up... you can almost always grantee that "someone else" has gotten in the way. Remember, Disney didn't have much interest in Mando at first, but they do like to micromanage their moneybag properties.
Exactly. Man got pushed around too much in the show and I just felt bad for him. He should’ve been kicking everyone’s ass. Sadly we may or may not see that.
25:40 Temuera Morrison actually wants to keep the helmet on more and talk less. Which greatly contrasts to Pedro Pascal wanting to get the helmet off more and talk more.
Didn't know that! Would have helped make the character feel like OT Boba. And although Disney has bungled it big time, Morrison does a fine job with what he's given, and in good shape even if he's a little paunchy. Great screen presence. If he didn't then it wouldn't even be watchable. I don't expect Disney to fix the character but it's certainly within their power to do so. All they would have to do is in the first or 2nd episode of the next season, have Boba learn a lesson that being a compassionate and cuddly goody-two-shoes has really screwed him and his buddies over. Like if nearly everyone's massacred, especially his dull wooden sidekick. Get rid of her and the candy colored gang. Audiences would cheer!! Essentially he'll have learned his lesson and the useless riff-raff are gone. I'm not saying to turn him evil but to at least adhere to the basic tenets of a proper anti-hero, like he needs to be an asshole.
@@GiantBoarMonster yeah there's a clip from an interview where he talks about how he talks far too much and isn't mysterious enough and he actually looks kinda annoyed when ming na wen interrupts saying he's only saying that so she has to do more work, to save face obviously, seems like tem is annoyed at his characters portrayal cause at the end of the day its kinda his baby, and tbh it's very distracting for me anyway that you've got this 60 year old man playing a 40 year old and the suit just doesn't fit him tems not in bad shape but he certainly isn't in boba shape and it hinders action scenes
Lando when Vader goes against his initial promise: "That was never a part of the deal, nor was giving Han to this bounty hunter!" "I have altered the deal, prey I don't alter it further." Basically, when Lando has an issue, Vader says " I don't care, get fucked." Now, compare to Boba raising issue with Vader. "What if he doesn't make it? He's worth a lot to me." "The Empire will compensate you if he dies." The implications for this are huge as it can easily be inferred Vader respected or at least recognized Boba's capabilities and didn’t want to alienate such a valuable asset. Moreover, it shows Boba wasn't afraid of Darth Vader. Where was that guy in BOBF?!
Vader sees boba as a useful asset that would be problematic to lose for future business, Lando is not a useful asset just another swindler, we all love lando but in no capacity does he have an intimidating presence same with han
@@chrisquinn3377 Lando is a Mayor or Governor or whatever, not just a swindler. You'd think under normal circumstances that you'd want the leader of a city colony to be on your side more than a bounty hunter.
@@corruptangel6793 Not really. If Lando's usefulness is his leadership in Bespin, Vader can easily station a few men there and have him replaced by Imperial leadership, as he implied (i.e. the whole reason Lando sold Han out to begin with, to keep the Empire off his back). Boba's usefulness lies in his skills as a bounty hunter, not his name or title.
Jango being somewhat honorable and Boba seeming to have no honor and being sadistic would've also been a great reflection on the state of the galaxy itself within the saga. The prequel times were more civilized and seen better quality of life vs the original trilogy where everything seems in much worse condition, as if the war across the whole galaxy took it's toll on it. It would've also made more sense because how death of his father affected him mentally
As well as having his revenge stripped from him unknowingly and not being able to kill mace windu I always saw that as having him become a lot more ruthless because he didn’t have anything to live for other than himself now
Bouncing off that idea, Boba Fett's arc in the Book of Boba Fett should be about him reclaiming his roots, become Mandalorian. This contrasts with Din, who is journey to be be more than a Mandalorian. Boba cleaning his armor, would be indicative of him making peace with the ghost of his father, relearning the lessons Jango taught him.
The BOBF had an opportunity to being a mafia style story mixed with some western elements, something cool and fresh in the Star Wars lore. I'll grant that his character development with the Tuskens was interesting, but after that, Boba's just "there." His mystique and imposing presence is just gone. He was completely neutered and played second fiddle to Fennec Shand for most of the show. This show was a real waste of a good opportunity.
ok you so defend the plot with the Tuskens was interesting....except you advocate to have something fresh in Star Wars. How is this any different from Dances with Wolves and the Last Samurai? It was full of horrible tropes especially the Lion King Pocahontas shit with Boba finding the magical tree and being the Chosen one. if we're going to do something with Boba Fett it needed to be something drastically different and daring, something Disney could never ever dream of doing
@@freddytheplatypus826 i never said the plot with the Tuskens was original, but at least it helped explain the change in Fett's character and his outlook. The rest of the show was a nothingburger full of missed opportunities.
Agree. The near-death experience and the Tuskens changing Boba was not a bad idea. But we see it led to nowhere. We didn't get to see a ruthless bounty hunter as he used to be, nor a smart and uncompromising mafia boss. He was a complete mess. We didn't want to see The Mandalorian all over again. We would have loved to see the opposite: A former bounty hunter now settling for that crime boss position on Tatooine. His mission should have been the extermination of any opposition and the enforcement of alliances and loyalty. That would have been in great contrast to The Mandalorian whose protagonist has turned from a dogmatic mandalorian into a caring father figure. Boba Fett should have been the polar opposite and they should have crossed paths only at a point where it was clear that their motivations and interests are totally different.
The Tuskens arc was best part of BoBF, but i think it would be better if it wasnt Boba who was becoming Tusken, but some other character, maybe completly new.
I saw people say "Oh they did that in the prequels with lightsaber fights" but that's very different. While turning your back in a sword fight irl is very rediculous, Jedi can sense each other's presence in a fight with their back turned. Doing a spin while swinging both keeps their momentum in the fight while also making their close-range melee combat harder to predict. Meanwhile, some random, non-force sensitive cyborg who does a spin before shooting a blaster at a distance? That literally is the dumbest thing ever. At least with the ligthsaber duels, since it was close range, it actually may have some benefits with being unpredictable with your movements, but you spinning in place in a gun fight is not gonna make you harder to shoot
@@TheLegendOfLame the difference is that wasn’t established in the OT especially in A New Hope. Where Alec Guinness does an ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS spin just like that robo guy.
@@jacobredmond4127 Being able to sense someone's presence was established in the OT. It was literally established right before Vader and Kenobi fought in a new hope. Vader literally states that he senses someone, and that it's a "presence I haven't felt since..." before walking away.
People who defend the show by talking about his development simply don't understand that Boba becoming a good guy is not what people what to see. People want to see the badass, ruthless Boba we have been hearing about for years.
I disagree when people saw the end seen at the end of mando where it pretty much said he would lead in respect not fear they loved the idea. They new that he would be a good guy, and they liked it. Not saying bobf is good or bad though
@@pizzaman4385 I mean he SAID that, but he had also just shot a guy in the face and unceremoniously shoved him onto the floor in order to take his place on the throne. This suggested there would still be a strong element of classic Boba. I read it as a "I'm willing to work with people who work with me, but if they aren't willing to work with me I'll do what must be done."
“We’ve been hearing about for years” it’s as if he’s always been a lame jobber non character who got cracked by a blind man and only got popular for having cool armor how crazy
I want the Boba from the books. He was a ruthless and fearless bounty hunter that didn't take shit and didn't let people get between him and his bounty. But he also wasn't a terrible person. He had limits and lines he wouldn't cross, a code of honor of his own, and eventually became the Mandalor and helped save the galaxy from the vong. They changed him too much in the show and made him too weak. But, there was some good. Not as much as there should have been.
That point you made about Boba Fett being a dark reflection of what Mando could become was very good. I woulda loved to see a daredevil-punisher type relationship between the two
The scene with mando and boba recruiting bo-Katan is probably the last time we’re going to see an accurate portrayal of THE boba fett. His voice was cold and callous, he had a no nonense attitude and tried to fuck off the moment bo katan and her sidekick gave an ounce of sas. He defended himself and his fathers legacy by not being a pushover and ruthlessly threw hands once he was fed up with the insults.
Kinda cucked him even in that scene though, because then he gets beat up by Bo- Katan’s punk Mando side chick. I genuinely rewrote the latter half of that scene once because it angered me after watching Book of Boba that this scene in Mando was essentially the start of his downward spiral under Disney, and at the time we just didn’t realize it. Here, I’ll paste it here if any of you guys are curious. I’m not a professional writer by any means, so feel free to critique or comment on it. || Boba: Mandalore? You gotta be kidding. The Empire turned that planet to glass. Bo: You are a disgrace to your armor… Boba: This armor belonged to my father. Bo: Don’t you mean your donor? Boba: Oh, that reminds me. I was meaning to ask. How’s your sister? (Bo lashes out at Boba, throwing a punch that gets her arm caught in his grip and her body pulled over his shoulder, slamming her to the floor. Boba whips out his pistol and points it right at her head) Boba: A shame you don’t have your helmet on. Cause now there’s nothing to stop me putting a blaster bolt between those pretty little eyes. (Bo subtly attempts to reach for one of her pistols. Boba responds with a shot that hits the ground an inch from her hand.) Boba: Careful now. Next time I won’t miss. Stay down. (Bo rests on the ground, defeated.) Boba: Smart move. (Boba turns to leave, before leaning towards Din Djarin.) Boba: I’ll be in the ship. See if you can explain things to her, calm her down a bit. Just let me know if she gives you any more trouble. It would give me an excuse to kill her. (Boba starts to walk away. Koska Reeves draws one of her pistols and points it at Boba’s back, making Din nervous.) Koska: Hey! You think you can just knock her down like that and walk away? (Boba turns back slightly) Boba: Yes, actually, I do. Unless you’d like to join her on the floor? (Koska fires a shot and Boba dodges it, spinning around quickly and firing off three rapid shots that all hit her square on the beskar chest plate and knock her flat on her back. Boba gives his pistol a cowboy spin before holstering it again and walking out the door. Din pulls Koska up to her feet, then Bo.) Din: Sorry about that. He’s- Bo: A clone. I know how they are. I’ve heard his voice thousands of times. Din: It’s not important. We still need your help, even if he won’t admit it. (Continue the scene on mostly as before). ||
People will say "oh the Tuskens helped him turn over a new leaf" His confrontation with Din was after that and yet Boba threatened to have the child killed just to get his armor back. THAT is Boba Fett.
True, though they made sure not to make him too strong against a female counterpart and unfortunately had the legendary bounty hunter kinda get his ass kicked. Would have preferred him just straight winning that one against the younger uppity bitch, but Disney.
I'd like to note that Boba watched his father's head get chopped off by Mace Windu. Afterwards he literally made the _choice_ to take the armor and uphold his father's legacy as a bounty hunter. He was not "forced" into it by his father. Jango may have taught him how to be a bounty hunter, but it was still Boba's choice.
Do you remember the time he fought Darth Vader over a score and when Vader had Boba Fett in his grip Boba Fett then through the score over a cliff towards the river of Lava. Vader released Fett focusing his attention on the score. In that moment Fett could have killed Vader then and there, but Fett knew killing Vader would only result in a lifetime of running from the Empire as it sought retribution. Instead, he took the opportunity to escape and waited for Vader's rage to quell so that the two could work in the future as allies. (I believe that this fight was in John Wagner and John Nadeau's Boba Fett: Enemy of the Empire #4)
I feel like they should’ve done The book of Boba Fett like the did with The Batman (2022). Boba is notoriously the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy as stated many times. And now he’s back from the dead? While everyone thinks he’s gone? Man, they missed a shot to make the most badass vengeance story with Boba. That scene in The Batman where penguin’s car flips over and he stares at vengeance while he’s slowly walking towards him with the flames in the background, that should’ve been Boba Fett to Bid Fortuna. Coming back to take what he thinks he deserves. But you know…. that never happened.
the problem is Bib Fortuna was never written to be a formidable antagonist to Boba...he was just a leftover from the movie canon and only there as Jabba's servant. (now I can't speak on the EU and how he factored into there, but I'm just talking from what I know) Even if this scene had gone down exactly how you described, it would not have had the same emotional weight that you think that it had with the Penguin in the Batman. The movie sets up The Penguin as a rival to the Batman, and we see him endanger the lives of hundreds of drivers all to stop Batman. That is a formidable foe. I do agree that they got Boba's character completely wrong- this whole idea that Boba was getting "revenge" is so out of his character because he knows that all the consequences that come as a result of his job are his doing, so he wouldn't waste his time on a vendetta. He would frame it as just part of the job and collecting debts or whatever so that he can continue doing jobs in the future.
Just one question. which is more towards all the critics of this show... why does no one mention that we have seen better crime and even mob boss movies before? If 'the Book of Boba Fett' had been only half as interesting as 'The Godfather', we would have had a much better show. I mean, come one. The Pikes are landing their soldiers on Tattooine and Boba Fett has a very good, if not one of the best snipers in the galaxy on his payroll. Shoot them. He says money is not a problem? Hire mercenaries and have them attack Pike operations on other planets. One of the premises of the show is a war in the criminal underworld over Tattooine. It would be nice to have seen one, but we didn't get a war. No idea how to call what we got, but it wasn't a war.
Legit don't see how this isn't talked about enough. Like he claims he's a crimelord yet absolutely nothing happens to acc show that or the elements of other crime movies or TV shows. It's all surface level and told but not shown. And ur right there should've been a literal war going on between crime Syndicates but instead we got a fucking skirmish wid the pykes and hutts teased as villains just to disappear(which made me think studio interference or reshoots, the show reeks of it unless they're literaly that incompetent on their first go)
They should have gotten Tarantino to do it ... Boba Fett went from a criminal's worst nightmare to an utter pussy. I feel like I could have taken him down myself with a baseball bat.
Pretty much my issue, other than the show being utterly ridiculous in general. From the outset I didn't like the idea of Boba being a crime lord, cause it would tie him down and make him unable to have direct agency in the show (which is exactly what happened). But I figured as long as they were going with it, they could at at LEAST make it a good crime show. But we didn't get that, either. We got a show about this loser who spends half his time in a bath, and the other half getting his butt kicked by people who he goes out of his way to disrespect and aggravate. He demands respect but does nothing to earn it, neither by moral nor immoral means. There's absolutely nothing stopping any crime syndicate from storming his palace and blasting him, if he posed any serious threat to them. Everyone in the show calls him a crime lord, but he's more of an anti-crime lord. He does nothing but ask all the other syndicates to pretty-please stop doing drugs. I don't even care about Boba Fett that much in the first place, but this guy is just pathetic and a pain to watch.
You're right. Why doesn't Boba Fett use his fortune to fortify his position? And the troops he does have, with a few exceptions, are quite pathetic for someone of Fett's reputation. What if Boba Fett’s faction was actually formidable? I like the cadre of elite fighters in the show that form his inner circle like Fennec and Black Krrsantan. The rancor was also a nice addition to Fett's arsenal. However, a crime boss needs an army to hold power. He should have far more Gamorrean guards and other mercenaries, that were left over from the previous daimyo. He would also have a few skiffs and starships. The Mods are the only thing that I would replace. Imagine a fearsome biker gang, that combined the Mods and the Kintan Striders into one faction. Each bike would be armed to the teeth (maybe some of the bikes have shark teeth decals to donate a more aggressive style). The bikers, themselves, would have cybernetic implants that made them more dangerous in battle. Flamethrowers, vibroblades, tasers - these cybernetics are not just for show. Fett should also have at least some ground armor, like a tank or a few land speeders. My vote goes to an AAT. With these changes, I think it would be more believable that Boba Fett could defend his territory.
@@TheGeekRex You make a good point about agency; though I think a crime lord was more a logical trajectory for his character than Mand'alor, as he was in Legends.
I comment this a lot on Star Wars reviews, but I’m still a firm believer that the cinematography plays a massive role in how Star Wars has changed as a story and genre. They’ve moved from an epic space opera to a super-hero action/adventure comedy. They really have turned up the Marvel formula. It’s undeniable, I believe this and other Disney Star Wars media objectively misses the entire point of Star Wars.
The cinematography of TV Star Wars is pretty awful, with exception to The Mandalorian. The Obi-Wan show has a $25 million budget per episode but visually none of it would get a pass in a feature film and Star Wars has been cutting edge visuals and sound before Disney. Sets look like plastic, costumes are dull and they can’t even make a chase scene with any sense of momentum or urgency. Look at Peter Suschitsky’s camerawork on Empire. Look at the colour palette. Look at the Falcon cockpit’s new lighting scheme or how Cloud City takes on a fiery red-orange at the climax of the movie. Sets, ships, props, costumes, aliens…. All of them look like crap under Disney.
They're definitely not a comedy lol. I found the original trilogy to be a lot lighter than the sequels. Finn and Poe were the only "comic relief" characters, and even then they were relegated to the sidelines. The live action series are also far from being comedies. The only star wars shows that actually have comedy are the animated series like Clone Wars because they're marketed to younger audiences as well. They manage to combine character development and emotional moments with good comedy and action. I would have preferred that formula over the sequels, which were somewhat tragic.
@@CanIGetaGame134 yeah, i feel the writers made finn and poe one-dimensional comic relief characters, while keeping everything else somewhat dark and dreary as opposed to the optimistic tone of the original trilogy. the humor should have been spread out much more evenly, and finn & poe both deserved a lot more character development (the former coming to terms with his past and encouraging peace, the latter becoming less brash and more understanding).
"Star Wars is testing my faith" is one of the realist lines I've ever heard, I've felt that exact same way since I saw the Last Jedi. The sterling and inspiring nature of Star Wars has never been the same to me since. These last few years have been both devastating and tiring because I've been a Star Wars fan for my entire life. I don't want to criticize or dislike Star Wars, but as a fan I am left with no choice when they have been putting out mostly substandard content since their acquisition of Disney. Star Wars didn't used to be like this. It used to tell a solid story with endlessly creative ideas in ever corner of the universe with oringal characters coming out of the woodworks and fans loved it because it the perfect balance of new and familiar in terms of the settings, characters, and conflicts. But lately it feels like Star Wars can only rely on familiar locations, characters, and concepts in an attempt to produce as much Star Wars content as possible. It's canabilizing itself because Disney wants it to appeal to everyone. I mean just look at the content we've gotten in the last few years! The sequels visually and plot wise, are just the OT in a new set of paint. That includes the Last Jedi (which I dislike for thematically being too different) because even when some praise it for being radically different, it was still basically the plot of Empire Strikes Back. Most new Star Wars shows depend on taking a previously established character and giving them a new show even if they don't need one and they keep bringing back previously established characters just for the sake of it. Star Wars did not used to be like this. If you remember the Prequels they were producing so much content that felt wholly new yet part of the larger story. New characters, new vehicles, new planets, new factions galore! And all of it felt like it was expanding the Star Wars universe while fitting in like a glove with the Prequels. Even the Clone Wars which stared Obi-Wan and Anakin introduced new characters from day one to have something original. The Clone Wars episodes never felt arbitrary, they were exciting and you never knew what the adventure was this week. It was a great time to be a Star Wars fan and I have to imagine that's how OT fans felt when they were reading their books and comics in the 80's and 90's. Now this might sound crazy, but as a Star Wars fan, I think we have entirely *too much* mainstream Star Wars content. Disney has been trying to turn Star Wars into Marvel to make as much money as they can at the box office and to push their streaming platform. But Star Wars historically has not had that many tv shows or movies and I liked it that way. It made those limited tv and films really special. Those stories weren't just stories for the sake of it, they were excellent narratives that people talked about for years after, they had an impact. And I don't get that impact from modern Star Wars film or tv. It's content just for the sake of it. There is hype when it first comes out and then people will forget about it a few months later. It has no staying power which is something that Star Wars always used to have. Is anyone going to watch these shows in two years let alone one? I'd much rather Star Wars only release a new tv series every few years and have that show run for a long time to build a following and thus an impact like the Clone Wars originally did. As a Star Wars fan, I do not like this new philosophy of quantity over quality, I do not like it at all.
Master obiwan I felt that when they announced the Ashoka series, don't get me wrong i like Ahsoka as a character, but I felt by her apearence in rebels it was enough Ashoka and the she appears in mandalorian with was good. But like rebels introduced lots of characters that could be explored, like the freaking place that thrawn and Ezra have gone to. One of the ones that seems interesting is the Andor series because it says it explores a different side of the rebels, but i agree that more spaced products of star wars could have been more nice, i find funny that they are even doing retcons like in the EU with the extended media. Let's hope for a more better star wars someday.
The Book of Boba Fett was definitely a letdown, but absolutely not the worst the Star Wars franchise has to offer. The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker are hands down WAY worse than this…
@@oXRaptorzXo the Slave 1 taking out the speeder bike gang was pretty amazing, but I’m trying to remember any other amazing scenes… Fennec Shand taking out the upper level crime bosses and conspirators was a good scene. I can think of some cool scenes, like when he goes into the cantina and beats up the speeder bike gang. The train scene was cool, but a rip off of Solo and one of the Mandalorian episodes… The sarlac pit was a dumb scene, everything involving the power rangers was dumb, the assassination attempt involving Black Krrsantan was really dumb, because he could’ve easily taken out Boba without armor, the gamorreans, and the power rangers… It was a disorganized mess of a show, but like I said, at least two if not all 3 movies of the sequel trilogy were worse
@@injuredoutdoorsman9011 the rancor scene was cool. I liked the cad bane stuff. Both the mando s3 episodes were fantastic. I honestly don’t care if the show is objectively bad in some ways as long as it doesn’t impact the universe heavily. So I’m glad we got this epic scenes to look back on
This show should’ve been: A. Focused on his time between Clone Wars and A New Hope and how he became a master at Bounty Hunting, becoming as good or even better than his father before him. Or B. Focusing on him hunting down Cad Bane, planning to end one last piece of unfinished business. Throughout the series him and Cad Bane would clash until it ends with Boba killing him. Neither of these hypothetical shows would involve the story from the original Book of Boba Fett, nor will they have Tatooine be the main setting for the show.
Im an OT guy and bar Mando S2 I hate everything they did with his character after he fell in the pit. To me he's an old school, cold blooded killer who will kill anyone who gets in his way. He represents the dirty side of the galaxy where it's kill or be killed. He'd be a great supporting character in the Mandolorian as someone who Din will go to if he needs some extra muscle but that's it.
You get it. I mean that’s what Boba’s purpose always was. The guy you go to when you need extra help. Just because you like a side character doesn’t mean they have the potential to be a good main character. It’s honestly a bit frustrating that the Star Wars executives or producers or whatever don’t see this. But oh well, we’ve just gotta work with what we’ve got at this point.
I have to say, I’d really enjoy a Boba Fett show still. Not this garbage, but one where he’s a cold blooded, bounty collecting machine. It could feature rivalries with the likes of Bossk or IG-88 competing for bounties, exploring the dark, grimy side of the universe, have heist style episodes where he has to put together small teams to get into a castle or something. I think it could be really good, if they just let him be the ruthless villain he always was. It’ll just never happen under Disney.
@@oyonan We were super close to that in video game form. Look into Star Wars: 1313. It was cancelled during development after the Disney buyout promptly shut down LucasArts, the former game division of LucasFilm.
The moment when he painted over his father's armor would have been great to see. The break from his father's amicable demeanor and his embracing of a more ruthless approach to bounty hunting. Like, a series that explores hoow his father was a hunter but how Boba is a killer would be so badass.
To put it simply, i think Disney just didn't want people to think the show was a repeat of the Mandalorian, because Mando being quiet, keepin his helmet on, and overall a cold bounty hunter, is everything that fans wanted, but they already adapted all those traits to mando, so when BOBF came around, they were likely enticed to do something different with him
Overall, great video. Agreed with all your points. Only gripe is calling Star Wars Explained an idiot. STE does something that I don't see many Star Wars TH-camrs do: try and make sense of what's canon. Most videos (this included) typically try to point out the flaws in Star Wars, why exactly it is a flaw, and then how they could've potentially corrected it. It's easy to acknowledge something as bad and then try to make it better. It's much harder, imo, to try and defend or explain something that, no matter what, is canon to the story. Regardless of whether or not one likes STE's content, you can't deny that it takes a great deal of effort and restraint to try and make sense of a canon that just doesn't want to make sense. Both of you guys I think serve and represent great sides to the Star Wars coin: One side represents the flaws and imperfections of a franchise one held so beloved, and the possibilities to try and make it good again. While the other side accepts the franchise as a whole, just trying to enjoy the media for what it is, not what it could've been; there are other more pressing matters to worry about. Idk, maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't think it's the greatest thing to call someone and "idiot" just because they're going about viewing Star Wars differently than you
To me, Boba was supposed to be the Anti-Mando to Din Djarin's Mando; the guy who would've had no problems leavin a little green baby with a questionable old man and his stormtooper goon squad for a sweet ice cream machine filled with precious mandalorian metal which he probably would've sold to the highest bidder or used it strictly for himself or something along the lines of that type of Clint Eastwood/Toshiro Mifune type character but what we got was more in line with an armored Boss Nass.
My expectations are very low. There’s rumors that Obi-Wan is not the main character of this show. That it follows some imperial or whatever. I’ve just got no faith when it comes to Disney making a good Star Wars show/movie. I lost it during the sequels and never regained it.
@@Ashbro117 that rumour has no proof to it so stop believing in random things u see on the internet the real rumour mentions that the new inquisitor will have a backstory which will be explored
@@luuska8657 true but this usually happens, a show or movie or games (Metal Gear), hype up getting to return to a character and then yanking the carpet from right under you and focusing on a new character. It happened in BOBF.
The craziest thing to me is that its made by the same people who brought back Boba Fett in Mando season 2, in that show he was ruthless and killed with no hesitation. But then suddenly he's mr. nice guy who doesnt want to hurt people's feeling... The only part that made me smile with joy is when Boba Fett murdered all the biker gang members with Slave 1 and you could see the emptiness in his eyes
That could be the higher-ups' fault. The Mando writers probably had more freedom to do that with Boba because he wasn't the main character until he got his own show.
The what if scenario you laid out at 35:00 is exactly what I thought we were gonna get. I kid you not the ending of Mandalorian season 2 and Book of Boba Fett really shocked me with what direction they took him in.
I like your idea of introducing boba fett sooner where him and Mando are a duo. Good idea. It keeps him as a villianous character while he still participates in the story.
I was thoroughly disappointed with TBOB as well. They took the most stoic, badass warrior outside of the Sith in the franchise and turned him into an entitled spoiled punk that absolutely no one respected.
@@bloodysimile4893 it’s not a failure. I actually enjoyed it fully. And boba doesn’t act out of character here because he never was a character. Except in clone wars, where he acted very similar to how he did here. Plus, in this show, there are many moments where you can visibly see the change over time. Sometimes he even states his motivation (e.g. why he stopped bounty hunting). For a full breakdown I recommend you watch “the good of boba Fett”
I love how the character created to capitalize on the Boba Fett cool factor has more of what makes Boba Fett cool than Boba himself has in his own show.
Agreed. I've always said, the Mandalorian (a show I do love btw) is basically what Boba Fett should have been (but more cold and less prone to sentimentality - ie; Boba in Din's place would have just collected on Grogu and not go back for him, this being a key difference between the two - at least prior to his portrayal in the BOB series). Boba has basically been "Jake Skywalker'd". I think a good example what BOB could have been, is the SW Bounty Hunter game from 2002.
Honestly i feel like it was good way for Boba to turn from bad side to good side while still being anti-hero. He knew that being a hunter is not always worth, so he became lord of lands. . .
As much as I love Mandalorian, I think that show is what ruined Boba's character. They didn't want to do a copy paste so they had to find a way to mix up the Boba character so it wasn't identical to Mando, but it flopped hard and basically assassinated his character.
They don’t really need to copy paste Mando, because even thought at the surface Din Djarin and Boba Fett share some similarities, they have quite a lot of differences. The most important one being that Boba is far more ruthless than Mando.
just make him evil and actually interested in climbing the criminal social ladder, that would have done it, instead, the show literally starts with him sitting in the throne, that should have been, like, the last scene of season 2.
I really think The Mandalorian WAS Boba Fett earlier in its development, since it conveniently got picked up at Disney+’s centrepiece launch tv show after the Boba Fett spin-off movie got cancelled. But imagine The Mandalorian with Boba Fett in the lead role from the beginning, and you have a really fresh and satisfying character arc worthy of Boba Fett, especially if he finds himself caring for Grogu AND meeting Luke Skywalker … and realizing for himself how far he has come since they last crossed paths. Instead…. Din Djarin is an up & coming Mandalorian bounty Hunter who has never heard of The Most Notorious Bounty Hunter In The Galaxy?! The least they could have done is show how Fett’s career would have greatly influenced Djarin, or at least have Djarin doubting Boba Fett’s identity when they meet. Fett’s one big action scene looks cheap and slapstick, and it set expectations for something really great in the finalé, but all he does is drive the getaway car and then duck out before plugging his own series with the dullest, most uninspired premise for Fett to slog through.
I've kept this in my watch later for a while, just while I digested my own thoughts on TBOBF, and I am very impressed by how well you articulated your points in this video. You make an excellent argument and I can't wait to see more!
When I think of Boba Fett, I think of a space Clint Eastwood, so when you put Triggernometry at 6:24, a classic track from one of the greatest western games, I knew you had some really good points to make. Great vid man, keep it up!
This biggest issue is that Disney has notable tendencies that have created two big clashes with what Star Wars should be. Disney doesn’t like to write stories that focus on villains, at least not villains actually acting like villains. Cruella and Maleficent were always just “misunderstood,” Wanda Maximoff was just mourning her loss and truly made a sacrifice when releasing her magic hold on that town (which somehow justifies her brainwashing, torturing, and enslaving said town for God knows how long just to live out her own selfish fantasies). The villain of Falcon and Winter Solider (whose name I can’t even remember) was portrayed as just misguided and morally just, even if she was going about getting her message across the wrong way (in reality she was literally just a psychopathic domestic terrorist). And here in Boba’s case, they refuse to allow him to be a villain. They don’t want to write these characters in the dark and aggressive ways that they should be portrayed and want to make them all have softer sides in a half assed attempt at giving them “depth.” And secondly, Disney is corporatizing everything they own now. Everything has to have 90 billion spin-offs, everything has to be “content” rather than what it should be, which is art. Star Wars was a work of art by one man with a vision, that others with similar ideas and great talent have expanded upon over the years. But when you let a corporation dictate everything rather than the creative talents who deserve to have control, you get things like the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy and Book of Boba Fett. Just products to be sold, not quality storytelling to entertain and intrigue us, the audience. We’re just customers to them, and they know it doesn’t take much to win us over into consuming what they put out, so at this point they usually don’t even bother to make anything worthwhile anymore.
Just "STFU" n consume next product pig tf do you know about this we've been doing this since we learned how to make pictures move with words then eventually with sound we run this DONT THINK JUST CONSUME SHIT CONSUME NEXT PRODUCT AGAIN NEVER ENDING NEVER CHANGING
And to make it just alittle bit worse, Disney Drowns all their "Products" in their WOKE Mind Virus/Alphabet Cult/Ultra Feminist/White Man Evil and Racist Political BS.
the reason why we love the mandalorian is because he is what boba fett was and is supposed to be. at least the book of boba fett is not so bad like the sequels and has some good moments. awesome video anyway!
I had a lot of issues with Mando, but generally, they managed to maintain a tone and style that I liked. It kept me engaged, even when I was rolling my eyes from time to time. Book of Boba was just a relentless eye-rolling mess.
Great video mate. Once again Disney has so much potential with the IP yet it feels like they're determined to waste it. I've wanted Temuera Morrison to return as Boba Fett for many years now but what I've seen is nothing like what I would have expected. It should've been set decades after ROTJ and have stayed true to the character of Boba Fett, with perhaps a redemption coming in a later season or something. Now I'm concerned with Obi-Wan, something else I've wanted for a long time. Following Obi-Wan between ROTS and ANH has so much potential, but I won't get my hopes up because of the current people running the IP.
17:51 Well, he killed like 5 of them with his hands previously, so I think, he just felt a ton of confidence. Risky business leads to you someday overestimating your abilities and taking too much risk, committing the same mistake of people that were here before you. Kinda works with every risky business, not only bounty hunting and not only in SW.
I feel the same way. I almost feel as though we are owed another season to make amends, but the damage is done. Like most I was really into the show until the Mods arrived. Then it was obvious something was terribly wrong with the show. So I hold on to the more appropriate moments in the show that keep Boba’s integrity in tact.
Another series where Fennec Shand tries to take over with the emo Vesper kids, because they all recognise what an utter pussy Boba Fett has become. Then the REAL Boba Fett, helmet ON, armed to the teeth - the cold, calculating and utterly ruthless badass he should have been all along - takes them all down without remorse or hesitation. No Mando to save his ass, just his years of experience and total lack of mercy ... killing Fennec Shand without ceremony, showing that he knew her game right from the start. The emo Vesper gang? ... sold off for spare parts to a cyber mod crime boss, with Black Krrsantan as his enforcer being as brutal and remorseless as he is. A darker and more gritty version of the Han Solo/Chewbacca partnership. Get out of that claustrophobic crater of a city and hunt down all the people who have dared to fuck with him until he is once again feared and respected. BOOM ... that's how to make a 'Book of Boba Fett'.
There's an episode of the clone wars where Maul and his brother unite all the major crime syndicates of the entire galaxy (including the pykes) in just over 20 minutes and it's better than this whole show.
This video essay showed me what we could have had in contrast to the original show. I had a weird feeling about the character but this kind of sent it home. Great video!
When the first few episodes came out I was completely against the criticism…. Until the power rangers arrived. There was so much they could have done to make this show amazing and they completely screwed it up. I don’t blame Temuera Morrison at all he even had issues with the way it was directed. I was also extremely disappointed waiting the entire show to not have Bossk make an appearance.
When the boba show released I wanted to see him reflect on jangos death, maybe meet a clone and be a badass trying to keep an underground syndicate alive. Would've been sick. Might make concept art on that
Fett got Jake Skywalkered. It is sad, because Mandalorian season 2 showed promise for him. Hell you could even use the being a clone to explain his age. Yes, he didnt have growth acceleration, but you could have retconned him getting it later after the death of Jango. He wanted to grow up and be his father, makes him more relatable with feelings people had growing up. We all wish to grow up faster. Now have him wanting to pass on his knowledge of being a prime hunter to Din. Sure, keep him ruthless, but you can soften him with age. Write good moments that could drive him to change.
@@achaudhari101 I am aware, but potential for a sequel doesn't make this any less of a missed opportunity. How does having not having a creed exclude Fett from wanting to pass on his skills?
His game that was cancelled would be amazing today, if yall saw the city he did assassins' creed stuff in, you'd be impressed Also, I just loved seeing Boba in live action and I think Temuera could've done a better job writing his character in this show.
We were screwed from the jump because Din Djarin is Boba Fett. He keeps his helmet on, barely speaks and dislikes other people. Oh and he hunts bounties. Then they decided to bring in the “real” Boba and realized that they’d already turned Din into Boba and panicked.
Comics boba is the best version of boba, the comic where he has to get the carbonite holding Han fixed which ends with him wearing black armour doing gladiatorial combat on a cyberpunk future world with a spiderwoman is so great
That’s a really interesting point that I always felt deep down. The Mandalorian feels more like Boba Fett than Boba Fett himself. The Mandalorian should’ve been Boba Fett
Exactly. I genuinely don't get why The Manalorian stars Din Djarin instead of just cutting out the pretense and being about Boba Fett. They wouldn't even have to have changed much of anything, since they de-canonised the EU the only appearances they had to keep Boba consistent with were in the OT and TCW.
You've done it again man great job on this - there was something off with the entire show despite having some surface level enjoyment, I wasn't able to directly pin down what exacly it was about the show that was failing to capture that same level of intrigue other than the obvious aspect of the show only really existing to serve as a glorified piece of marketing for The Mandalorian S3, it's a shame and definitely leaves me even more apathetic to Disney star wars but hey, at least I can enjoy TH-cam videos like these that are somehow a lot more well crafted than the multi million dollar productions. Keep it up man I'm loving this content, you've clearly got something going for ya here I look forward to seeing it!
If we look at boba fett in pretty much all other media he never takes his helmet off, he almost never speaks and when he does it’s with a dark side of disrespect like you said. I mean look at boba in the force Unleashed 2 absolutely bad ass taking a job to capture a girl from Vader’s powerful experiment that he just saw the damage caused by.
The funny part is, I think they could’ve mixed Boba’s old ways in with some kind of newly found code and honor, but they butchered that as well. They show him getting close to the Tuskens, and then by the end of the show he is all about the people of Mos Espa. He never interacts in a meaningful way with anyone in Mos Espa (asides from the cringey mods who walk all over him), and a majority of his “soldiers” are generic citizens from a town miles and miles away that he also never even met! Add that in with the pathetically stupid story, laughable action sequences, and neutered nostalgia characters, and you get a show that misses the mark in almost every way. They disrespect the titular character and tell a boring story that spends almost a third of its time focused on characters from other shows.
Excellent analysis of a favorite character of mine, to which I also agree. BoBF was a huge let down and down right character assassination. This "arc" did not suit Fett in the slightest, his character is best explained by a quite I heard of. "Dinn Djarin is a Gunslinger." "Boba Fett is a Barbarian."
I got the feeling that quite a number of people put too much blame on Morrison. Yes, he did seem lost in regards to acting out the character but like... who was he even supposed to be? No wonder he couldn't put his abilities to good use. He was fantastic in TM. The idea with the Tuskens and him wanting something else than just being a bounty hunter after nearly dying that horribly could've made sense. It could've been a great story. In legends, after he survives, he led remnants of old, true Mandalorians. Like his father once did but tragically failed at. Not only stepping in the footsteps of Jango but bascially redeeming his past failures. Yet, he was still old, cold, ruthless Boba. But wiser, less aggressive and more content with his place in the galaxy. Even had a wife and a daughter. They could've given him a clan in the show aswell. The Tuskens. They too are ancient warriors, a dying race. Like the Mandalorians. But they threw that out of the window as fast they could just to give him... like... a gang consisting of maybe ten guys at best. Wow, perfect crew for a crime lord. Or should I only say "lord" because they really made it a point that there should be no crime.
12:05 another thing with the armor is since it's not faded like it we're, it looks so out of place on a desert planet where everything is basically worn out.
Your teacher isn't wrong about the Mandalorian. A show that's pretty much all video game side quests as plots. The main character having literal plot armour and the constant reliance on Nostalgia and name recognition call outs including Cartoon characters isn't a great show. While the took mocking there own villains to new heights with Stormtroopers dying by rolling rock that's straight out of Road Runner and running into rolling bombs !
I enjoyed this video more than any Book of Boba Fett Episode! I had no expectations for the show and it still managed to disappoint me, I had some expectations for this video but I was still entertained
That fact that fans know all these amazing details and have a deep understanding of the character, and Disney gave us THAT as the Boba Fett show, really shows their disconnect.
I have never heard of you, but this was one of the best reviews of the Book of Boba I have ever experienced (and there are plenty of others). In the name of the Galactic Senate of the Republic - I am officially subbing to this channel.
I'm one of those old fans who grew up with the mystique of Boba Fett being an unknown . . . In the past, it was great. While we knew he'd been portrayed by Jeremy Bulloch, we didn't know what Boba really looked like. He never took off his helmet, to the point where he said his helmet WAS his face (an idea they just transferred to Din Djarin). We didn't really know his past, he was mysterious - aside from plausible but otherwise uncertain things like him having been a Journeyman Protector named Jaster Mereel who had killed one of his fellows and been banished. The Mandalorians were known to be Supercommandos, but we knew very little else about them. The Tales of the Jedi comics made them really cool, with ancient armor and strange machine-beasts as weapons platforms/vehicles/mounts. They had served the Sith when the Mandalore was defeated by Ulic Qel-Droma! We knew that Boba Fett was the heir to this sort of mantle. It was a real shock to see him as an embarrassing child, clone of another dude who seemed, honestly, pretty bumbling. There are neat ideas and possibilities there, but it felt unnecessary to put this on Boba Fett . . . and let's face it, does the fact that he's a clone ever matter? He ages normally, occasionally someone is like "you're just a clone!" but that's it. It doesn't mean anything. He might as well have just been Jango's natural son. Also, I really wish they hadn't replaced the original voice with Temuera Morrison's in the OT. I get why, and I like Morrison! I actually love how he's worked in elements of his culture for Boba. But Boba Fett's voice was so iconic, and it's just easily explained as him having a voice changer in his helmet. Oh, and yeah, Book of Boba Fett was an embarrassment. I actually found some amusement tho, when I started pretending that this was just a crazy old hobo who had found Boba Fett's armor and no one knew what he really looked like so they were just afraid to contradict him.
'Book of Boba Fett' was ALMOST an awesome show. If he wasn't such a low energy sap who has lost his edge, if he hadn't relied on Mando, Fennec Shand and a bunch of emo Vesper teenagers to save his ass and if they hadn't shoehorned two episodes of The Mandalorian into the end of the series, it could have been epic. He needed to be a total badass, needed to do all his own dirty work and annihilate all his enemies with an utterly ruthless coup de grâce that no one saw coming ... above all, he needed to keep his damn helmet ON. He came across like he was a rookie hired muscle, not the seasoned master hunter that we have come to expect over the last 40 years and he submitted to the authority of everybody with whom he dealt. I think that if he gets another season, (which he probably SHOULDN'T, based on the first season), he should be betrayed by Fennec Shand, who sees the weakness that we have all seen and Boba ... the REAL Boba ... just blind sides her like he knew what she was up to all along. He needs to be brutal, cold, calculating and above all SELF RELIANT. Boba Fett from the Book of BF was just a pussy and needed to be thrown back into the Sarlacc pit. What a pathetic way to destroy an iconic character.
Great video, imagine if they would have made Boba intimidating and in the mandalorian Third season finale someone pay Boba to hunt Grogu and they have a cool battle and clash their ideology Especially if they made it more like Boba Hunt Mando in some swamp planet (or everything that isn't a desert) to create more tense situation, well more than a battle face to face that last like 2 minutes and end unsatisfactory... I'm looking at Cad Bane of course
I always felt Boba should have taken a antagonist or mentor role in the Mandolorian, and stayed a supporting character. When they teased him all the way back in Mando season 1 I thought that maybe he was sent to hunt down mando and the kid. Nope, he just wanted his armor and then we got the boring crap we have now. It would have been so cool to see the characters go from impersonal rivals to garnering a mutual professional respect.
Even though I’m a causal fan of Star Wars, I enjoyed the first 6 episodes and despise the sequel trilogy, I must say, I enjoyed this video quite a lot. It gave me a true perspective on what Boba Fett is all about! Not to toot my own horn but I have a character who would be a better crime lord than the show’s version of Boba Fett. Can’t wait to see what you’ll come out with next!!
You know I was just finishing making a video talking about the show and then this video popped up in my feed and I was like oh I guess I'll give it a watch but now I have immediately subscribed and I'm excited to see more from you. Great job with both of your videos!
It was poor, but it didn’t offend me to my very soul like episodes 8 and 9, so I managed to enjoy aspects of it. That’s how low Disney have set the bar
@@sammerry7706 boba destroying speed bikers, train scene, cad bane’s first appearance, the scene where boba walks into a bar and beats everyone up, krystantan appearing for the first time, mando and boba fighting side by side, the rancor scenes. And that’s not even getting into the mando s3 stuff. To me, as long as we get some great scenes out of it, and it doesn’t break or ruin anything in the grand scheme of things, I like it
Im glad you brought up Star Wars Explained. I used to be a big fan until i realized how much of a shill he is and just excuses everything just because it has the Star Wars named attached to it
Little did we know when disney changed his ship name from Slave 1 to bobba fetts starship/firespray, what would be in store for our favorite bounty hunter.. they nerfed him as they did Luke in the sequels. Disney are a lost cause. 🙄
They said that in the show because the model class of ship it is is a modified prototype Firespray 31-class patrol and attack craft. It’s been that way since legends. The only time the name is mentioned is with Fennec Shand and she wouldn’t know his specific name of ship. Just like how Han gets upset no one’s heard of the millennium falcon cause it’s just a modified corellien yt-1300. Not everyone knows the names but they know the type of ship. Not trying to be hateful I was upset about the name change at first but when I learned it’s literally just the actual name for the ship I lightened to it a little
@@Rodez2001 Boba was sopposed to be the most notorious bounty hunter in the galaxy, when Boba says his name Fennec recognise it instantly, are you telling me that someone belonging in the criminal underworld like her would not know the name of his ship or what kind of ship he used?
That's exactly how I felt. I feel the problem is Disney was unwilling to have a main character that is villainous. Because the changes to his character appear the moment his show began. Not in Mando season 2, but right after he guned down Bib in cold blood.
Agreed, and probably "encouraged" by Lucasfilm's own top too.
We need to do away with that crap entirely and give spinoff series to characters like Grievous and Plagueis for a breath of fresh air
They wrote him as a benevolent dictator, and the problem I think, is that they write it off as him being a new man after the sarlacc pit.
@Julian R rodriguezs directing is legitmately terrible, i was shocked at how bad episode 3 was with that "speeder chase"
That's because that's what Star Wars is about.
Makes sense when you consider Temuera's actual experience being Jango and Boba.
With a face like pedro pascal you’d think he’d beg to leave the helmet on
Those were just rumors Pedro never said that lmao
Lando when Vader goes against his initial promise:
"That was never a part of the deal, nor was giving Han to this bounty hunter!"
"I have altered the deal, prey I don't alter it further."
Basically, when Lando has an issue, Vader says " I don't care, get fucked." Now, compare to Boba raising issue with Vader.
"What if he doesn't make it? He's worth a lot to me."
"The Empire will compensate you if he dies."
The implications for this are huge as it can easily be inferred Vader respected or at least recognized Boba's capabilities and didn’t want to alienate such a valuable asset.
Well, boba also decimated those speed bike people in the most epic Star Wars scene I think I’ve ever seen.
@@chrisquinn3377 Plus Boba reminds Vader of Rex.
Great point
the game Bounty Hunter showcases this perfectly.
The Tuskens arc was best part of BoBF, but i think it would be better if it wasnt Boba who was becoming Tusken, but some other character, maybe completly new.
the dude making a 360 before shooting is the funniest and saddest thing about this show
Also when the same asshole zoomed in with his inspector gadget eye, and the resolution and clarity was worse then just a normal person squinting!
They were all so out of place. If they were wearing chain mail and using swords I don’t think I’d even notice.
He can have morals and what not but he sure as hell isn't a good guy.
"Mine might be the last one you hear" was such a raw line
Kinda cucked him even in that scene though, because then he gets beat up by Bo- Katan’s punk Mando side chick.
I genuinely rewrote the latter half of that scene once because it angered me after watching Book of Boba that this scene in Mando was essentially the start of his downward spiral under Disney, and at the time we just didn’t realize it.
Here, I’ll paste it here if any of you guys are curious. I’m not a professional writer by any means, so feel free to critique or comment on it.
|| Boba: Mandalore? You gotta be kidding. The Empire turned that planet to glass.
Bo: You are a disgrace to your armor…
Boba: This armor belonged to my father.
Boba whips out his pistol and points it right at her head)
Boba: A shame you don’t have your helmet on. Cause now there’s nothing to stop me putting a blaster bolt between those pretty little eyes.
(Bo subtly attempts to reach for one of her pistols. Boba responds with a shot that hits the ground an inch from her hand.)
Boba: Careful now. Next time I won’t miss. Stay down.
(Bo rests on the ground, defeated.)
Boba: Smart move.
(Boba turns to leave, before leaning towards Din Djarin.)
Boba: I’ll be in the ship. See if you can explain things to her, calm her down a bit. Just let me know if she gives you any more trouble. It would give me an excuse to kill her.
(Boba starts to walk away. Koska Reeves draws one of her pistols and points it at Boba’s back, making Din nervous.)
Koska: Hey! You think you can just knock her down like that and walk away?
(Boba turns back slightly)
Boba: Yes, actually, I do.
Din pulls Koska up to her feet, then Bo.)
Din: Sorry about that. He’s-
Bo: A clone.
@@MALICEM12 exactly. I thought the same shit. He still got his ass kicked by a much smaller women. Bullshit
*Cries in Legends*
Seriously, Boba Fett eventually became the freaking _Mandalore_ in that timeline!
Yes.
It's the only timeline my friend. Well ca on has some good but anything post-ROTJ is worth piss
Shame they just didn't adapt legends stories.
what is that supposed to mean, he became the planet?
(now I can't speak on the EU and how he factored into there, but I'm just talking from what I know)
Even if this scene had gone down exactly how you described, it would not have had the same emotional weight that you think that it had with the Penguin in the Batman.
How did u write down exactly what I thought of? The whole Batman penguin chase scene and everything else. Are you me?? 🤨

Facts no blood or onscreen kills if any
The cinematography of TV Star Wars is pretty awful, with exception to The Mandalorian.
@@empirestate8791 that one scene with Finn in the leaking suit ruined the entire trilogy for me
@@CanIGetaGame134 yeah, i feel the writers made finn and poe one-dimensional comic relief characters, while keeping everything else somewhat dark and dreary as opposed to the optimistic tone of the original trilogy. the humor should have been spread out much more evenly, and finn & poe both deserved a lot more character development (the former coming to terms with his past and encouraging peace, the latter becoming less brash and more understanding).
The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker are hands down WAY worse than this…
And BOBF is still pretty good honestly, it has many amazing scenes
@@oXRaptorzXo the Slave 1 taking out the speeder bike gang was pretty amazing, but I’m trying to remember any other amazing scenes…
Fennec Shand taking out the upper level crime bosses and conspirators was a good scene.
I can think of some cool scenes, like when he goes into the cantina and beats up the speeder bike gang. The train scene was cool, but a rip off of Solo and one of the Mandalorian episodes…
The sarlac pit was a dumb scene, everything involving the power rangers was dumb, the assassination attempt involving Black Krrsantan was really dumb, because he could’ve easily taken out Boba without armor, the gamorreans, and the power rangers…
It was a disorganized mess of a show, but like I said, at least two if not all 3 movies of the sequel trilogy were worse
@@injuredoutdoorsman9011 the rancor scene was cool. I liked the cad bane stuff. Both the mando s3 episodes were fantastic.

@@oXRaptorzXo Imo, BOBF only really got good in that last war arc, and even then most of it was pretty much just a Mandolorian season 3
@@blazypoo1723 ep 2 and ep 4 were 10/10
This show should’ve been:
A. Focused on his time between Clone Wars and A New Hope and how he became a master at Bounty Hunting, becoming as good or even better than his father before him.
Or
I think if they didn't have boba in the mandalorian they could've had some sick ass western show about boba hunting down cad bane like you said
Im an OT guy and bar Mando S2 I hate everything they did with his character after he fell in the pit.
@@brontebell7748 He can work as main character. He just doesn't work as a good guy.
The moment when he painted over his father's armor would have been great to see. The break from his father's amicable demeanor and his embracing of a more ruthless approach to bounty hunting. Like, a series that explores hoow his father was a hunter but how Boba is a killer would be so badass.
To put it simply, i think Disney just didn't want people to think the show was a repeat of the Mandalorian, because Mando being quiet, keepin his helmet on, and overall a cold bounty hunter, is everything that fans wanted, but they already adapted all those traits to mando, so when BOBF came around, they were likely enticed to do something different with him
Why even make a show for boba Fett anyway?
Yea mando without the stupid kid, would have been great.
Both of you guys I think serve and represent great sides to the Star Wars coin:
One side represents the flaws and imperfections of a franchise one held so beloved, and the possibilities to try and make it good again.
Its still salvageable, just make boba more brutal and ruthless, have him talk less and keep the helmet on
You nailed.. its precisely how I felt after watching the show.. makes me wonder what we are in for in Obi-Wan.
My expectations are very low. There’s rumors that Obi-Wan is not the main character of this show. That it follows some imperial or whatever.
I’ve just got no faith when it comes to Disney making a good Star Wars show/movie. I lost it during the sequels and never regained it.

I absolutely hated book of boba, they massacred him and you perfectly covered how. Definitely worth the sub
I was thoroughly disappointed with TBOB as well. They took the most stoic, badass warrior outside of the Sith in the franchise and turned him into an entitled spoiled punk that absolutely no one respected.
But did you like it when the episodes first aired?
Also boba had good scenes in this show, despite being softer.
@@oXRaptorzXo A few good scenes doesn't make up the failure that is book of boba fett.
Smh Star Wars fans ask for character development and hate it when they get it
I love how the character created to capitalize on the Boba Fett cool factor has more of what makes Boba Fett cool than Boba himself has in his own show.
This is probably the best analysis I’ve seen over Star Wars content that isn’t solely blind hate
Honestly i feel like it was good way for Boba to turn from bad side to good side while still being anti-hero.
He knew that being a hunter is not always worth, so he became lord of lands. . .
"Worst Star wars piece of media" you say?
Obi Wan Kenobi Series: Allow me to introduce myself!
As much as I love Mandalorian, I think that show is what ruined Boba's character. They didn't want to do a copy paste so they had to find a way to mix up the Boba character so it wasn't identical to Mando, but it flopped hard and basically assassinated his character.
they shoulve copied pasted
They don’t want to write these characters in the dark and aggressive ways that they should be portrayed and want to make them all have softer sides in a half assed attempt at giving them “depth.”
And secondly, Disney is corporatizing everything they own now.
Disney is basically on their way to turning Star Wars into a copy of Marvel
For the live action yes totally, yet i feel like that in their hubrid/boomer mind they just overlook the animated side and let them go wild there
And to make it just alittle bit worse, Disney Drowns all their "Products" in their WOKE Mind Virus/Alphabet Cult/Ultra Feminist/White Man Evil and Racist Political BS.

BOOM ... that's how to make a 'Book of Boba Fett'.
y know that feeling when you like something but then someone criticizes it with good points and now you dont like it too? yeah thats me
There's an episode of the clone wars where Maul and his brother unite all the major crime syndicates of the entire galaxy (including the pykes) in just over 20 minutes and it's better than this whole show.
This was also Lucas's idea for Eps 7-9, though with a new character, Maul's sister.
the box?
You know a second season can happen right? The last part makes no sense because Boba was not tied to a creed.
@@achaudhari101 I am aware, but potential for a sequel doesn't make this any less of a missed opportunity.
How does having not having a creed exclude Fett from wanting to pass on his skills?
Nice addition of the Utopia theme!
His game that was cancelled would be amazing today, if yall saw the city he did assassins' creed stuff in, you'd be impressed
Also, I just loved seeing Boba in live action and I think Temuera could've done a better job writing his character in this show.
Gotta love the utopia ost in the background at some points, thank you for reminding me of that gem 🙏
first video of yours i've seen, and i thoroughly enjoyed it. really well done
We were screwed from the jump because Din Djarin is Boba Fett. He keeps his helmet on, barely speaks and dislikes other people. Oh and he hunts bounties. Then they decided to bring in the “real” Boba and realized that they’d already turned Din into Boba and panicked.
"When I was in film class...". I'm out
I still greatly enjoyed that ritual thing where he became one of the sand people
Just retconn everything Disney has done so far. I feel like everyone would be 100% okay with that.
Comics boba is the best version of boba, the comic where he has to get the carbonite holding Han fixed which ends with him wearing black armour doing gladiatorial combat on a cyberpunk future world with a spiderwoman is so great
The trend of unmasking mysterious characters has also began to ruin Paramount's Halo and their depiction of Master Chief
Ngl, the intro has serious Mauler vibes. Not a bad thing at all 😉
That’s a really interesting point that I always felt deep down.
The fact you used the Mandalorian war song and Vode an while taking about mandalorians was awesome since I love the songs, great video
Keep it up man I'm loving this content, you've clearly got something going for ya here I look forward to seeing it!
always glad to hear the utopia ost
Really makes you worry about how obi wans character could be potentially damaged by kenobi. Though it doesn't look bad.
BOBF didn't look that bad until we got it either, so my hopes aren't high.
I loved obi wan

I love the utopia music in the background
If we look at boba fett in pretty much all other media he never takes his helmet off, he almost never speaks and when he does it’s with a dark side of disrespect like you said. I mean look at boba in the force Unleashed 2 absolutely bad ass taking a job to capture a girl from Vader’s powerful experiment that he just saw the damage caused by.
I think it's good to see people that still consider themselves star Wars fans getting the content they deserve.
Woah was that the utopia ost? I respect that my guy :)
Excellent analysis of a favorite character of mine, to which I also agree. BoBF was a huge let down and down right character assassination. This "arc" did not suit Fett in the slightest, his character is best explained by a quite I heard of.
"Dinn Djarin is a Gunslinger."
"Boba Fett is a Barbarian."
The utopia sound track got me hooked😂
Hearing the Utopia sound track in bits of this caught me hella off guard lmao
Same lol
This was so perfectly said and perfectly described how I felt during the show. Great job with the video!

Great video, imagine if they would have made Boba intimidating and in the mandalorian Third season finale someone pay Boba to hunt Grogu and they have a cool battle and clash their ideology
Especially if they made it more like Boba Hunt Mando in some swamp planet (or everything that isn't a desert) to create more tense situation, well more than a battle face to face that last like 2 minutes and end unsatisfactory... I'm looking at Cad Bane of course
they also ignored the fact that this guy was like 20 years raised by bounty hunters, young boba was full of fear and hate
Oh cool youre this guy. Just found the channel again from your Filoni video.

Not trying to be hateful I was upset about the name change at first but when I learned it’s literally just the actual name for the ship I lightened to it a little
@@Rodez2001 its still called the Slave 1 for me. They just changed it cause of the word. slave. Its retarded. It will always be Slave 1 to me.
@@Rodez2001 Boba was sopposed to be the most notorious bounty hunter in the galaxy, when Boba says his name Fennec recognise it instantly, are you telling me that someone belonging in the criminal underworld like her would not know the name of his ship or what kind of ship he used?
