I like how Dave gave Tim and Brad space to come up with their own thing and then accepted it... Imagine if more musicians and producers had the confidence to let the other musicians come up with their own ideas instead of micromanaging the hell out of them........
It's a crime that such a fine bass player like Tim Commerford ain't around in many videos here on TH-cam, just jamming & shit. I'm so glad that I got to view this video. He is a God, the fella hits the right notes at the right time. That's what I love about him, got such bad ass tones for his bass too.
As a bass player who started in the late 90s, Tim has been, and continues to be, a heavy influence on bassists. I do follow loads of jazz players and funk slappers and get down myself... But Tim has always been a class act and phenomenally rounded bassist. From masterful use of effects and even designing his own pedals, to tight technique and execution. In my top five for sure
Matt Norris He's literally good by anyone's standards. Les Claypool, Victor Wooten, John Myung, would not criticise his playing in the slightest. It's not just about blistering technical ability. (He's more then capable of shooting rapid triplet fills when needed). Who're you comparing him to?
I memorized this bass line 3 days before owning a bass, and once I finally got one, this was the first song I learned (been playing guitar for 20+ years), it's literally Tim Commerford and this bass line that got me to finally make the switch to bass
Damn ... what a Fucken resume of music in this studio... Rage against the machine, Audioslave, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, A perfect circle, Queens of the stone age... Totally amazing
+Christopher Henry Same sorta time Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On came out. For anyone not familiar with it (by Funkadelic), listen to Alice In My Fantasies and you'll hear Bombtrack!
@@theguyfromnirvana8316 hey there! wow, it has been 7 years since I made this comment. i was far more interested in drumming back then when I was 13, then I quit and now I have a boyfriend who plays drums and he's teaching me how to play. we call it fate I guess!
@@ipekdoganc5673 Wow it's cool I'm a drummer too and huge foo fighters fan and i watch this video over and over again this bassline is mind blowing and i love the video with man called lee ving he is crazy you should watch this video too and video name is making of wife is calling i think.
Dude no way- go back and listen, all the sickest riffs are bad driven, and even the parts Tom wrote would not have been shit without those bad ass bass lines.
Interesting that these riffs sound like Rage. I think its pretty clear who the song writer was. Tim Commerford is the most underrated bassist of the 90's. He up there with John Paul Jones.
Thank u soo much for this yo, as a teen in highschool, bands like Rage Against The Machine, played a big role in my life, & one of my dreams is for em to come back together & make music, Tom Morello's doing his solo thing & I missed such a bad ass bass player like Tim Commerford, the same for the man behind the drums, Brad Wilk, glad that he's with Black Sabbath now. But I missed Tim.
endocry "that" singer is one of the best musicians/producers around since the '80s. Get the Masters of Reality - Sunrise on the Sufferbus album, that's a good starting point to begin with.
Idk why but good bassists always come up with the best riff ideas
Justin Chancellor (Tool) comes up with a LOT of their riffs. So, you're right!
Dave Grohl, Brad Wilk, and Tim Commerford...The Ultimate Garage Band!! Dave's reaction to Tim's bass line, hilarious!!
YES!!!
I like how Dave gave Tim and Brad space to come up with their own thing and then accepted it... Imagine if more musicians and producers had the confidence to let the other musicians come up with their own ideas instead of micromanaging the hell out of them........
I feel like Tim and Brad have something that can't be bought or taught. They gave chemistry

Yo I NEVER understood why Tim doesn’t get more credit. Yea Tom morello did cool stuff in rage but it’s Tim’s bass that really drove that band.
Tim and Brad are at least top 5 in best rhythm sections ever
So definitely
thatisracist so underrated it's pretty sad /:
Aye sir!
+thatisracist no kidding man, they are tight.
Best rock rhythm section since Jones & Bonham
These 3 guys make an awesome power trio. This should be an actual band.
I just can see him with Foo Fighters, Mix with Audioslave + Clutch with Goss on Vocal.
Sounds like it could be an SDRE outtake
Man, fuckin Tim & Brad one of the best solid rhythm section duos ever.
That harmonizing bass riff gets me every time.
"I came up with this little idea, it goes like padaddadoedadada doooauuuw ja daddadadaaaaa"
Tim's riff is fucken awesome, I was amazed first hearing it.
Tim Commerford is such an amazing bassist!
Dave Grohl is not used to hearing crazy riffs day in and day out like brad wilk and tim commerford. Straight beasts.
Tim and Brad never got enough respect with RATM but they're awesome
You have got to be kidding...RATM would not be RATM without Tim...Brad's a good drummer, but Tim - his sound made that band what it was.
jumpinjiminy9 that's what I'm saying
you are so r8 m8

FrankDV can’t agree enough
That bass line near the end, holy hell so good.
Commerford and Wilk arguably the best rhythm section in rock! Too bad Tom Morello wasn't in on this too.
Tim can sure play the f**king bass
+Dave nope
what
barely..
Probably the studio player who records bass for My Chemical Romance. lol
Tim is awesome.
Most epic drum and bass combo, brad and tim.
Brad's groove is insane
This is seriously my favorite bass line of the album, in fact, it's my favorite bass line in a very long time.
I love how Dave picked up on their style... he truly played Rage style on guitar.
You gotta love the rhythm section with Brad and Tim :)
Tim and Brad are so damn good.
1:16 Dave Grohl just being Dave Grohl lolol
I memorized this bass line 3 days before owning a bass, and once I finally got one, this was the first song I learned (been playing guitar for 20+ years), it's literally Tim Commerford and this bass line that got me to finally make the switch to bass
Yeah, I finally picked up my bass for the first time in 2 months to play that bass line.
It is deffo one crazy riff! Tim and brad are awesome. These guys are on a whole other level.
Brad is awesome!
proves that tim and brad are great riff makers too!
Damn ... what a Fucken resume of music in this studio... Rage against the machine, Audioslave, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, A perfect circle, Queens of the stone age... Totally amazing
Wao. Amazing. Brad and Chris putting some RATM in there. Sounds great.
You mean TIM?
yes
This riff at the end. Tim and Brad's idea.
Check out Frank Zappa "Tell Me You Love Me" from Chunga's Revenge.
Came out around '71 or '72.
Christopher Henry you are so cool man.. i just came back checking ur info.. and its right, thumbs up

I love Dave because he's trying to do new things with rock and keep it alive by collaborating and stuff. Wish everyone else did this.
Should have stayed a 3 man instrumental jam.
Dave should have sung
Or Cornell :_)
@@davidleiva940 RIP :'(
Vocals were fine
Love the way Brad swats the cymbals.. Badaassss
arguably the best rhythm section ever...
It's amazing how Dave Grohl can make anybody sound like the Foo Fighters.
Dude at like a little over 6min mark.. Que foo tone. Hilarious
not to hate on dave, but he's not to versatile in his guitar playing. so that will happen when he sticks to the same sound.
Smh...the corey taylor song too...the only song thst didnt from these sessions was maybe mantra
IvanGotYokes
Does not sound like the Foo Fighters at all...
this is much better ✌️
You mean terrible
love his beats.
BRAD WILK joyned a phenomenal band - THE LAST INTERNATIONALE -
Commerford freakin legend.
i love the riff that the bass player come up whith that should be a song sounds cool
I'm in love with Wilk's drum kit...

Very Nice! Living Legends! Thanks for "Keepin' the Scene Alive"!
That bassline is gold!
Man I love this album more and more every day!
So Morello wasn't the only riff machine in Rage...
Dude no way- go back and listen, all the sickest riffs are bad driven, and even the parts Tom wrote would not have been shit without those bad ass bass lines.
Yea dude. Tom gets all the credit but it’s Tim who really drove that band. His bass lines are so nasty in literally EVERY song.
The fact that Dave Grohl can walk in cold and play what Tim is playing...like he’s heard it a 100 times.
This is the dream team for rock music!
Chris Gosss is the best!
This is freaking awesome!!!! What are these guys waiting for to make a record!
Tim Commerford though....
total badass, right?
mouthmw he's got to be one of the best bass players of our era he's so underrated
Amen
Definetly
Him and Flea
wow, nice jobe, it sounds like STP, i can imagine Scott singing those lyrics! damn good!
THIS is how we made music! Just showing each other the riffs we came up with and putting it all together! Rock 101!
THIS IS A GREAT LINEUP, AMAZING TUNE!
"Those restaurants you got are pretty kick ass..." Ha!
i like how at the 1 minute mark dave went from musician to little kid playing in shadows lol.
Amazing.. very moving thank you :)
5:00 Goss is like "I know the lyrics don't make sense, but..."
Dude, chill, you're working with the guy who played drums for Kurt Cobain, it's fine.
Interesting that these riffs sound like Rage. I think its pretty clear who the song writer was. Tim Commerford is the most underrated bassist of the 90's. He up there with John Paul Jones.
And I'd like to add. have Dave sing. Wtf?
This channel is pure gold. Awesome videos. Loved every single one
It's just wonderful!
A lot of great music with that group!
I'm such a badass, me and Brad kick ass!
Timmy C you're not real

That ending has so much groove. Holy shit.
WHAT A COOL MASHUP!!! AWESOME
The 3 greatest rhythm sections in Rock Music
1) Geddy Lee and Neil Peart
2) Tommy Shanon and Chris Layton
3) Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk
Chad Smith and Flea
That "ending" section is so Rage. Def has that "Bombtrack" or "Fistful Of Steel" vibe to it
Wonderfully Done!
tims the fuckin man. love his bass playing heavy tone with a funky style. badass
Beautiful.
1:36 enter Zack de la Rocha...
Aaaah! gets heart attack.
"Yo check check check it out check check yo"

This could possibly be my favorite song, on any given day. I thank you all for that!
At 7:30 it goes from foo fighters to Rage!! Love it!!
I agree about scott weiland. This song is like a mix of ratm but it really reminds me of old stp as well. Scott would of fit perfectly.
good point. woula' been perfect for him.
woahh havent thtought of that...it does have that vibe...scott would have ruled on this...
TiANr0ckst4r Yeah it really has a Purple kinda vibe to it melody wise and sound. Than the ratm vibe at 7:30. Id love to hear Scott sing over it.
This was class
Damn, that shift to 13/8 is just beautiful
Most awesome comment ive seen in about a year. Thankyou sir :)
Kick ass song. I don't even really know that singer, but hey, the final mix sounded good to me so all you armchair producers should relax.
endocry "that" singer is one of the best musicians/producers around since the '80s. Get the Masters of Reality - Sunrise on the Sufferbus album, that's a good starting point to begin with.

"Look at all these spooky shadows and shit"

That song kicks ASS!!👍
Love the Fly By Night at the end there...
8:53 someone´s playing "Fly By Night"
I'm amazed at how quickly Dave picked up on that bass line just by looking at tims fingers
+Hampton Rogers In the beginning, Commerford talks to Grohl about "what you gave us"... Dave composed the song... :)
+Hampton Rogers I know. I'm a guitarplayer as well. But I wouldn't pick that up. Awesome fucking musician
+onics that's not what he meant
What you gave us...
... AND expanded on it
onics
OP's referring to the end bit Commerford and Wilk came up with
These guys need to get together more and make an album..cool jams..
the solo sounds so Harrison Great ;)
great song!
