I like the idea of the Resistance getting thier hands on a super weapon and having to decide what to do with it. Its the kind of dilemma we rarely see in Star Wars.
I know in the Yuuzhan Vong War they tried to use the planet-moving gravitational power of Centerpoint Station against a Vong fleet, but a combination of last-second chickening out and improper usage caused it to misfire and hit a Republic-allied fleet. The Battle of Fondor, I believe it was. (I think later in the war they developed dangerously powerful bioweapons to use against the Vong's organic technology, most notably Omega Red, but were also reluctant to use them for fear of collateral damage.)
I actually really like all the character development and deep dives in this book. It basically shows you that every issue you had with a character, whether it be their initial lack of substance or seeming state of regression are not only not true but are quite the opposite. Rey's lack of confidence for not being sure of her force abilities, only able to call on them in dire situations, Poe's brash behavior and lack of leadership skills (I love that he's a recognizable face now, I think it's really neat), etc. It's all handled very well and explains the characters nicely.
I gotta be honest, everytime you post one of these types of videos, im so intrigued. Hearing your description of the books, i feel like im in the adventure. Several tines ive been watching your reviews and my daughter will come watch with me. And thats so amazing. Shes only 6 and is fascinated with books and reading and cant wait to take a crack at every book you have reviewed. You and Mollie are to cool and are and amazing part of the star wars galaxy. MTFBWY

I just finished the first issue of Allegiances. Don't want to spoil anything, but it feel like an actual Resistance series, almost every character featured in this one. Not have big mysteries about this series, however really curious about how the events turn out.
I liked this book. I feel like this would be at the tail end of the Journey to The Rise of Skywalker, since we know that Resistance Reborn takes place shortly after TLJ, and this book makes mention of the events of the Allegiance comic.

Well, as long as the Resistance has some half-bunny rabbit people lol and the occasional generic JJ Abrams creature with multiple eyes and tentacles, since most of the windy-bearded characters were destroyed with the New Republic by Starkiller Base, I'm sure they'll be fine. 👍😂 Edit; Amputations! THAT'S what the new trilogy is lacking! Severed limbs. Someone should lose at least one appendage per movie. Especially the main characters! When there is so much lightsaber action going on everywhere, arms, hands, no extremity is safe in the original and prequel trilogy. Star Wars just feels incomplete without a good, healthy amount of body parts getting chopped off lol it's a huge mistake to deprive the fans of such a FUNDAMENTAL element of Star Wars! And, they only have one film left to make up for it! Fingers CROSSED, people! 😂
I hope that in EP 9 the Resistance is pushed up against the wall in a fleet battle and there’s no means of escape. Suddenly, the New Republic fleet comes out of no where and we get a REAL large scale fleet battle in the sequel trilogy!
I hope it's the New Separatist Union who else would be more ready for a war then them? They've seen how the Republic and Empire ended up it'd make sense if they went full isolationist and built a massive droid army with no restrictions.
Rey is overpowered, never had any training, Kylo has been training since kid. Disney can't wright star wars, just look at Finn also completing his story but rose tico crashed into him. I hope Rey days.

In response to the comment about tools not being inherently evil, there is a line in Jedi Knight: Jedi Apprentice from I believe Kyle Katarn that says "Abilities are not inherenetly evil, just how you use them" kind of a nice nod back to that!
I say Freddie's right. I mean every first Star Wars episode starts as for kids of that generation, and it grows as the audience also grows. Star Wars is for kids of that generation it's in. Star Wars is a generation thing. Doesn't have to be for everyone because it doesn't need to. Plus he's right about the Force dictating the need for balance. I mean he learned it from Dave Feloni who also learned it from George Lucas. Plus the Whills play into that based on what we've known from their history and apperance from the Clone Wars, and the Whills could have played a hand in the creation of the Chosen One in the form of Anakin So yeah, Freddie Prince Jr is right in his comment
I like the idea that Rey struggles with the force and can do powerful things only in emergencies. Wish they could have explored it more in TFA and TLJ.
In my opinion this book was as bad as the side trip in the Last Jedi, when they went to Canto Bight. Of course it was written for a very young audience, but it was not as good as the Journey books for The Force Awakens, or The Last Jedi.

If you read the novel tie-ins then you would know that she copied most of Kylo's skills from that interrogation scene in Episoe 7. Plus, Rey is skilled with a staff since being in Jakku, and she applied it to her lightaber
Your comments from 1:15 to 1:25 about how if Rey and others help those who are oppressed, the Resistance numbers will grow, you know that would have been a brilliant plot line for the middle film of a trilogy. But instead we got the longest slow speed space chase, with a side helping of hamfisted political nonsense shoved down out throats. Episode VIII should have been the Resistance scrambling around the galaxy looking for allies after the destruction of the New Republic, and trying to stay one step ahead of the First Order. It would have allowed Disney to expand into different areas of the galaxy in a coherent and interesting way, but instead we got the Last Jedi
