    The mention of gems in the Yavin gas giant isn’t necessarily Death Star Kyber crystals. Legends books mentioned Corusca gems created by the huge pressures in Yavin that were also mined.

      Yup. Lando Calrissian helps the young Jedi Knights snatch several corusca jems from the depths of the gas giant Yavin Prime as a part of his new mining business.

    I used to be a fan of Legends and someone who'd say this was once the underlying resource for Star Wars lore. But since Disney began to rewrite, ngl it's been a much more engrossing follow along. Especially with this specific story dealing with one of the perceived plot holes of Poe Dameron once being a spice runner.

    I have to honest; being someone who used to religiously play The Gungan Frontier, I kinda geeked out at the chak root mention.
    Also, I have a feeling the author's played a lot of the old games to get these references, even Lethal Alliance XD

    The hammerhead cruiser, and centurion-class battle cruiser, feel like mistakes to me, it’s well known that source books consistently mistake the hammerhead head corvette for the old republic counterpart sometime even listing it as the twice as long cruiser size. It was even given a more specific name Sphyrna-Class Corvette to attempt to stop the confusion. I fear that the only reason the centurion is their is because the author also got confused and assumed that old republic ships got moved up the timeline.

    • @goodmind4940
      @goodmind4940 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's probably a mistake lol, because the cover has Sphyrna-class corvette not cruiser, they also get Thranta mixed up with Hammerhead constantly

    An XS-Stock Freighter?!?!? By the time Poe is 16 those ships would be ancient! Even in canon its described as well over a century old by the GCW and if we go by legends, It's over a 3000 years old! Damn!
    Feels like a lot of TOR references are in this book. That's really cool actually. I feel like TOR doesn't get enough Love, even back when it was Canon.

    The gems could be corusca gems, which were mentioned in the old Expanded Universe. In Shadow Academy, Jacen and Jaina go with Lando to collect some.

    Is this a normal amount of deep cut legends things to become canonized in a new book? Or does it seem like they're drawing more from legends than maybe previous works?

    Ah, yes, uglies. I was always amused whenever anyone in Legends was stupid enough to build and/or fly a "DIE-Wing," that being a Y-Wing's engines attached to a TIE cockpit so that you get no shields, secondary weapons, or hyperdrive and only the speed and maneuverability of an Y-Wing.
