The loading screens are hidden like when you’re traveling between realms all tat animation etc is giving you something to look at while the world loads. Very impressive and smart thing to do. The game feels so immersive

Really good. I think that would be really great. It's obviously something that needs to be seen at some point. She saved him I'd say. Be pretty cool to see her actually fighting possibly too
i would very much enjoy that. considering Kratos is being completely open with the BOY at the end i really wouldnt mind the only DLC this game having is Kratos just telling the boy how he got to Midgard and met Faye via flashback or something. but then again, they did make some minor stories into their own ones previously (ie chains and Ghost) so maybe that would be a whole new game of itself....i wouldnt mind that either honestly, but considering the ending, i REALLY wanna see a sequal before a prequal.
Or we play Faye on how she met Kratos. Feel like that is something they could go with because same combat style with the axe since it was originally hers.

He’s one of those guys who is actually on our side and feels adding content as a cash grab really hurts the gaming industry from a consumer stand point. We shouldn’t have to pay money for extra stuff that should’ve been in the game in the first place. Bonus items is one thing, but when you’re leaving critical elements out of a game and you plan to add those in later as a DLC? That is a poor marketing strategy and that’s why Cory didn’t take that route.
They could develop DLC after the main game is completed like W3, and those DLCs were even better than the base game. So I think it's a missed opportunity
A DLC that leads into the sequel is a fantastic idea. You know, a little Avengers ending that hints what is to happen next. A good example is DA: Inquisition's terrible ending made the game meh, but the DLC that expands on the aftermath of the ending, and the cliff hanger that it provides kinda renewed my interest in Dragon Age 4.
Blame it on the Witcher 3. Because of that game Joe now gives 10/10 on really good games. I'm not saying GoW and R2D2 aren't masterpieces but the witcher 3 really did set very high standards for triple A games.

I gained so much more respect from Cory Barlog when I watched him react to the 94% rating on Metacritic. He cried. He cried. Something I personally have only seen a couple of times from Creative Directors. He was so fucking proud. Seeing that people like that actually care about how well their game does not for only the money, but for just the sheer joy of being able to create something that people will praise for years on end is amazing to see. We talk too much about all the negativity in the gaming industry. It can be shitty for a multitude of reasons, but it's so refreshing to see just a normal guy cry over a game he created because he never expected to get such a high rating off the bat. I think he should be praised for just showing humility. Well done, Cory. Well done.

"A battle that would be like the final battle in other games." God of War has had a few instances throughout the franchise where that's been the case as well. The Colossus of Rhodes in God of War 2 was even the first boss there.
I believe every God of War game does that with the first boss being something worthy of a final boss in other game. The Hydra, Scylla, the Basilisk, the Rhodos statue, POSEIDON and that thing in Ascension (haven't seen that one)

I'm so happy it won, loved this game to death. I've always been a fan on this series, and this game just takes the Cake man. Apparently now that they've got the busy work of starting the series up again out of the way, they're planning on having sequels at a faster pace. I'm so ready to play a new GOW series for the first time again.

Witcher 3 was boring compared to god of war, the story was progressing at an extremely slower pace, 70% was about finding siri and 30% was about protecting her nothing else, the war between the realms was happening on one side which had no significance on the main story.. Witcher 2 was way better than 3.. God of war perfectly intertwined all the events that happened in midgard, alfheim and helheim perfectly with the main characters, the actions of kratos and atreus perfectly influenced the outcomes of the events that occured in the respective realms, and even influenced the prophecy of the norse mythology... Story was moving at the right pace... This deserves 10/10 more than witcher 3

I disagree it's a big part of the game afterall though it would've been better if he only mentioned you'd get another weapon later on instead even if you'd still half expect it then.. he wouldn't be able to show anything of the 2nd half of the game then though since they're always there in the 2nd half That said i tend to only watch angry reviews after beating the game due to spoilers except for the intro and the score

Gameplay gets repetitive after 6 or so games tbh. I've played almost every game except for Ascension coz I was so burnt out on the combat. It's not like Devil May Cry's combat that has depths to it which makes it fun to learn. In the old GoW games, you just go for your staple Square, Square, Square, Triangle combo most of the time.

Oh yeah i agree but it does ad another layer to kratos being he is not only doing it for himself but also his son. Something he was denied with coliopie his first daughter. And how Kratos tests himself taking back control of his life evolving his character and not letting himself be controlled by the rage inside him. I recommend the god of war motion comic here on TH-cam it's short but very symbolic of the kratos we have in this game.
agreed tho i was kinda disappointed they didn't explain how he got to midgard. my friend said they want you to think he just swam there, bull shit. not with that giant gaping hole in his stomach. tho what bugged me more then anything, was when he went to get back his old weapons, it's a small gripe, but god of war 3 is the game that takes place before this, and near the beginning of 3, you get an upgrade to the blade of chaos, and they become the blades of exile. yet they are still called the blades of chaos in 4.

Game was pretty damn amazing. My only real issue was the recycling of enemy types. Remember this enemy? Whelp, now he's a fire enemy! And later he'll be a poison enemy! That got old really quick. As did many of the sub-bosses all being the same.
What u just described is why I couldn't play the GOW game originally. I tried and just got tired of the same shit waves over and over. I think I'll enjoy this one with the "boi" companion though. It's got to break up the monotony a little, right?
Old God of War games did a really good job mixing it up. At the very least, you never fought the same sub-boss again. It was always a new enemy and they gave you a fun power-up. Bloodborne would also be a good example. Every new area has a theme, and new enemy types throughout. And remember, it's more about how they recycled the enemies with a different element. As opposed to at least adding a couple new enemy types for each new area.
I just got this for PC, few hours in...I already feel like it's going to be an epic masterpiece. This has got to be one of the greatest reboots ever made

I got so heated while battling a valkyrie on this game. After an hour of playing, on about the 16th attempt, I finally weakened her enough to finish her off. So in the heat of the moment, I ran towards her and the molten floor killed me... I have never felt like such an idiot in my life XD

Also the reason you're not connected to the goal of this journey is because you haven't played the previous games. Even by playing one, you can feel the desire for Kratos to be a better person and his ongoing struggle.
This is why I only watch joes reviews after I play a game. His reviews contain SO many spoilers. I was pissed when I saw the chaos blades in this because it was ruining it for so many people. It was such a nice surprise for me.

Trust me guys, Joe would have given this a 10 if he had played the previous games. There are several moments and dialogues that touch you way more when you have played them. :)
and both are still incorrect, but if you knew real Norse myth then you'll know there's honestly not that much to work with compared to Greek. I can't think of a single game that does Norse myth right, but it could be because if you knew it then there wouldn't be any surprises to the plot and you'll know what happens all the time.
AJ you completely missed the point of the game. It’s not spreading the ashes it’s the bonding between Kratos and his son. That’s what the mother of his son wanted. That’s why she sent them on that journey.

I’ve played this and I’m sorry but this is just a straight 10/10. This is one of those games that don’t come along often. I sat there when I finished and was left speechless ana just said ‘wow’. I felt this was more enjoyable than other games I’ve played like Witcher and even last of us which was my favourite game before playing this
I guess I’m in the minority. Graphically and story wise it’s the best in the industry. Being a game however, it’s not the best. Playing og God of War you can see the very same guilt and depression of Kratos’s character. The start of a suicide jump is perhaps the most distinct thing to do for a protagonist of a game. Kratos degrading himself meanwhile allowing his selfish revenge journey devour the earth.
You mentioned wanting to go back and play the earlier games, which are fun. However, have you ever considered doing a classic gaming segment where you review games from previous generations for people to play?
A huge lesson Kratos gives Atreus is that he regrets killing some of the people he killed from his own realm. I don't think every Norse god is going to be a threat, since that would completely go against some of Kratos' teachings. Like when he tells Atreus not to kill people when they're beaten.

Once you realise that it's much more obvious where all the loading times are but it still helps with the immersion and I thought it was pretty well done. Also it provided a nice time for the characters to speak to each other and get stories from Mirmir.

I gained so much more respect from Cory Barlog when I watched him react to the 94% rating on Metacritic. He cried.

Seeing that people like that actually care about how well their game does not for only the money, but for just the sheer joy of being able to create something that people will praise for years on end is amazing to see. We talk too much about all the negativity in the gaming industry. It can be shitty for a multitude of reasons, but it's so refreshing to see just a normal guy cry over a game he created because he never expected to get such a high rating off the bat. I believe every God of War game does that with the first boss being something worthy of a final boss in other game. The Hydra, Scylla, the Basilisk, the Rhodos statue, POSEIDON and that thing in Ascension (haven't seen that one)

Witcher 3 was boring compared to god of war, the story was progressing at an extremely slower pace, 70% was about finding siri and 30% was about protecting her nothing else, the war between the realms was happening on one side which had no significance on the main story.. Witcher 2 was way better than 3.. God of war perfectly intertwined all the events that happened in midgard, alfheim and helheim perfectly with the main characters, the actions of kratos and atreus perfectly influenced the outcomes of the events that occured in the respective realms, and even influenced the prophecy of the norse mythology... Story was moving at the right pace... This deserves 10/10 more than witcher 3

Gameplay gets repetitive after 6 or so games tbh. I've played almost every game except for Ascension coz I was so burnt out on the combat. It's not like Devil May Cry's combat that has depths to it which makes it fun to learn. In the old GoW games, you just go for your staple Square, Square, Square, Triangle combo most of the time.

And how Kratos tests himself taking back control of his life evolving his character and not letting himself be controlled by the rage inside him. I recommend the god of war motion comic here on TH-cam it's short but very symbolic of the kratos we have in this game.

Game was pretty damn amazing. My only real issue was the recycling of enemy types. Remember this enemy? Whelp, now he's a fire enemy! And later he'll be a poison enemy!
That got old really quick. As did many of the sub-bosses all being the same.

What u just described is why I couldn't play the GOW game originally. I tried and just got tired of the same shit waves over and over. I think I'll enjoy this one with the "boi" companion though. It's got to break up the monotony a little, right?
Old God of War games did a really good job mixing it up. At the very least, you never fought the same sub-boss again. It was always a new enemy and they gave you a fun power-up. Bloodborne would also be a good example. Every new area has a theme, and new enemy types throughout. And remember, it's more about how they recycled the enemies with a different element. As opposed to at least adding a couple new enemy types for each new area.

idc what the director said, when I played the game, I saw Kratos learning who his son is and vice versa. The mother purposely put them on that journey idc what anyone says

I’ve played this and I’m sorry but this is just a straight 10/10. This is one of those games that don’t come along often. I sat there when I finished and was left speechless ana just said ‘wow’. I felt this was more enjoyable than other games I’ve played like Witcher and even last of us which was my favourite game before playing this
I guess I’m in the minority. Graphically and story wise it’s the best in the industry. Being a game however, it’s not the best. Playing og God of War you can see the very same guilt and depression of Kratos’s character. The start of a suicide jump is perhaps the most distinct thing to do for a protagonist of a game. Kratos degrading himself meanwhile allowing his selfish revenge journey devour the earth.

A huge lesson Kratos gives Atreus is that he regrets killing some of the people he killed from his own realm. I don't think every Norse god is going to be a threat, since that would completely go against some of Kratos' teachings. Like when he tells Atreus not to kill people when they're beaten.

Once you realise that it's much more obvious where all the loading times are but it still helps with the immersion and I thought it was pretty well done. Also it provided a nice time for the characters to speak to each other and get stories from Mirmir.
