Thank you so much for this video. The expert mode was driving me crazy, even with the video it took me about an hour and a half to finally get a first place finish at 1:19:40. It’s insane just how bad this minigame is, even putting aside the fact that the analog stick doesn’t work for it it’s just so needlessly demanding and precise. At least I’ll never have to think of it. Thanks again
Finally did this today using my own 'style' of driving. This is what I posted on Steam but I will do it here as this is the video that helped me most:
I am hopeless when it comes to racing games (dont own a driver's license either, so the world can relax) but I clutched out a win in Expert mode today so I am writing this to encourage people to play on. Advanced was done in under 3 tries. Thus needless to say Scarlet can be easily recruited along with the story mode race that is super easy as long as you abstain from analogs. Here are my 'tips'：
One important detail in any mode is to use the D-pad of your controller. Mine is a PS4 wireless one I am not sure how the Xbox360's pad will work and quite frankly my thumb is too burnt out to attempt.
Drive with your own rhythm; DO NOT copy what videos others have posted. 'Side drifting' is NOT neccesary.
Perfection is not needed to get the 19.60 time. Some can do 14.5 but even they will not say they raced perfectly. Mine is 16.56 after an ungodly number of tries.
Landing on all the turbo pads and orbs are needed. (I think)
Do not accelerate(press UP) when you are in Turbo. In fact my thumb was so sore after 6hrs of overdoing the UP button that I laid off the accelerator and raced in a more relaxed style to win today. I did this approach almost out of necessity.
Cut off time for the first ramp is 21s approx. Reset if you are over it. There are other cut off times for different junctures but I leave it up to the real experts to tell. I wont be doing this anytime soon! The fact that only under 5% of game owners on Steam have done it tells you it aint child's play.

For anyone that has the chance to stumble on this video , idk on console but if you play on pc with a controller this minigame is COMPLETLY BUGGGED , your boats drifts without no reason , use the keyboard for this
This is impossible to do on console with a controller. It keeps drifting at the same 2 hard turns for no reason.
Try the keypad, it helps a lot.
Not saying it is easy just doable to complete them.
What does the model craft do in the hot springs other than cosmetic effect?
Absolutely nothing. It's just a cosmetic item that floats in the water.
