This guy deserves an award. The way he explains and describes each element is so clear and precise, I've understood so many Blender concepts from this series than I was able to understand from paid courses for months.
These tutorials are awesome. I'm coming in here thinking "alright, old man, let me check if I still know everything I learned half a year ago", and leaving with "whoa, wtf, you can do this as well?" In this case, modifiers for graphs.
If you have a lot of objects with similar keyframes, and you want to edit at specific parameter, let's say y rotation, you can search for y rotation in the search field and will highlight all y rotation keyframes for all selected objects. Quite useful if you don't want go through and select every single parameter.
Not that project-oriented videos, such as a video on how to model a car, do not have their place, but I LIKE THE WAY that you have organized your tutorials, i.e. by which editors that you want to learn use such as Graph Editor or Timeline etc. Good job! > I REALLY LIKE IT WHEN the instructor moves the pointer/cursor slowly and stops on their selection for a moment before clicking on it so that I can see exactly what they are selecting AND simultaneously announces the name of the function that they are selecting so that I can also hear a description of what they are doing. > Most of your competitors move the pointer around rapidly and click on their choices so rapidly that it is extremely difficult to see what they are doing. YOU ARE MUCH BETTER THAN MOST. I have listened to three of your videos to date and I assume that you have made others and I look forward to viewing them. Thank you.
In addition to having access to standard transformation shortcuts in graph editor (G,S,R keys) you can constrain movement to increments with Ctrl and make finer changes while holding Shift! Thx for making this video Blender team
These videos are well made, thank you so much! Oh and, congratulations to the todays release of 2.8 ! I really think this will change a lot and the user base will grow very fast from now on...
Dear Blender, First of all, I'm super grateful for your amazing software Secondly, please can you tell the narrator guy to elaborate a bit more than "feel free to experiment" or "to learn more you can read official tutorial" Best wishes
after 1 year of using blender, i only study this now, because i always see other peoples animation so smooth and i wonder how did they do that, time to smooth my animations
Thank you so much for the awesome tutorial series, learned quite a lot while working alongside with it^^ The work and care you put into these things really shows and it helps so much! (Oh and thank you for always having the "Hotkey Users can press XY" Phrase. It really helped to never miss a hotkey tip :D
*If I select a key, then press G, I can offset the time (x) numerically by typing numbers.* *But how can I do this for keyframe VALUES (y)?* Edit: I found a workaround. In the keymap prefs for Move(Graph Editor), I can set it to constrain the motion to only Y, and therefore constrain the numeric offset to Y.
Please guys don't forget to update the 2.8 playlist when you add new videos. As of now the last batch of 2.8 basic videos are not part of that playlist.
I think it's intentional. All the videos inside the playlist actually have the " - Blender 2.80 Fundamentals" suffix at the end of their title. All the newer videos that aren't in the playlist don't have the suffix, the video title is simply the name of the tool being taught. I guess they don't want these tools to be considered "fundamentals". I also think this wasn't a mistake because the last few videos in the playlist was about rendering and rendering output settings. This shows that they wanted to close the tutorial playlist and leave the user with the knowledge to actually obtain the output of their work. The new videos I guess are for people who deliberately search them up to see how to use them, and are not "fundamental" to the usage of blender. (My speculation, not a fact).
Peter Njeim ah could be. I just compared and the old “fundamental” playlist was a lot bigger than the 2.8 so I though the 2.8 list would more or less map the older one. Maybe they will group it all together into some “advanced 2.8” playlist.
9:37 Just notice that in my Blender 2.8 installation and in this video that the mouse over tool tip for the F-Curve modifier always shows disabled even when it is enabled
A subject I'm dying to see presented as clearly is the NLA editor. I've been pulling my hair off for the last 3 days trying to understand it !!! Also the action editor is giving me griefs I don't understand the relationship with the pose library, undoing what I've done already every time I go back to it ! Just a kind request... Cheers
That's why there is still 2.79 support going on. That way you can move projects that are broken with just importing the .blend. You can also run multiple versions on the same desktop so your complaint is a bit silly. Hell you can still download 2.4 if you please.
Question! How do you go about creating these tutorials? I notice nicely hidden cuts here and there. Do you read a script? Do you do segments short enough that you roughly memorize what you want to say? These are so wonderful! I am about to do a similar tutorial series on PrusaSlicer, a 3D printing software used to prepare models for 3D printing, and it would help me a lot to get some insight in how you do it, because these are honestly incredible - clear, to the point, loaded with info. Thanks!
Thanks, I'm glad you like them! :D they took a while to do, but it seems it paid off! I do write a script beforehand, yes. Then, I record the audio in chunks, stitch it together, and then record the visuals while listening to the audio to match them up. This helps me plan out the best way to explain something to a user both verbally and visually. Good luck with your tutorials, as well!
I'm in 2.93, trying to apply easing to my camera keyframes, but when I right-click on the selected keyframe and choose "ease in and out", nothing changes and the keyframes remain linear. View > Show Handles is checked. Any suggestions? Thanks!
is there a way to edit modifiers for multiple curves? like if i have 5-10 curves with cycles modifire, can i edit all this modifiers at once and not 1 by 1?
I love your tutorial but when 2.8 released I was new user. When I was searching google or TH-cam for tutorials. Tutorial was always making on 2.79 then I downloaded that version and still using 2.79. But when I watching this tutorial then I’m thinking I should download 2.8 again but you know 2.79 is a better version is well. Which version is the best you guys thinking reply me. Thanks!
This video is great except that is not actually explaining what is that curves, i recommend to see "f curves" in the official wiki for understanding what it is.
I just got into animation using blender but once I reached the point where i have to spline, I got huge dissapointed that graph editor in Blender doesn't work along local axis. It doesn't make sense to me, if there is a way to do that please anyone tell me but if there isn't I really hope to see this get improved in a newer version. This simple thing makes your key tweaking goes so easy and smooth I don't understand why in Blender it doesn't work that way.
How can I quickly view one channel from mulitple objects? In maya they have a function that says view keys from channel box, so if I have ten fingers selected but I only want to view the X rotations, I select the channel box x rotation and it filters the graph editor. Can this be done in blender?

ive been working on a blender but when i select the camera it only shows a little bit of it like the render distance is too short and i need to make it so it renders farther things as well
Does anyone knows how to customize the workspace layout? For example, how do I put the gizmo at the bottom? A blend file I downloaded had the layout changed.
Marker is just a notation for anyone entering your shot or a reminder for yourself later in the fx comp phase that an action needs to take place there. In actual studio environments animators typically will proxy that in. But you can say lens flare here, or muzzle flash here, or an anim note like have character arrive on screen by this frame. More or less useless but some people like it

Useful to add a bouncy effect to the ball when hitting the floor... done by selecting the Z Scale and adding the noise modifier.

Not in 25 years in animation have I ever used a dope sheet editor, it serves no purpose that I can find. Graph Editors are where its at!
