I started my 3D life with Blender few years back. And I learned Zbrush for sculpting my characters, (becoz its cool) and used blender for retopology and other stuffs. But what I see in the development phase of 2.80 and the upcoming release is most of the Zbrush features is adding into blender one by one. Feels like Blender never wants me to switch to any other programs for my 3d needs. Hats off to the development team... especially to the sculpting branch that on development. Pls give more love to UV tools and texturing workflow... Lets make blender the most insane 3D tool..!
For everyone wondering how he got the ball in Sculpt mode: if you open a new project as "Sculpting" instead of "General" (e.g. in the File -> New menu) the ball will be your default asset instead of the cube.
Just some side knowledge, this guy was a good choice for sculpting! He's the one that sculpted the girl, dog, and crazy creature in the Blender short Spring! He has an art station for his credentials haha

it would be actually helpful for beginners, if you showed in video how you, once opening the blender, get your 8 vertices cube from object mode into 10000 vertices sphere in sculpt mode.
@@Henbot I watched it to the end to find this information. The point still is that video starts with narrator using sculpt techniques on object, and normally, I prefer to jump in straight away with these techniques on my PC. It is quite frustrating when you try to find out base yourself, but eventually it is in the end of video. I personally do not have behavior to go to video's 20-ish minute to find how-to create mesh to work with, and afterwards to beginning of video to start working. Bad sequence of montage. p.s. and yes, my first comment was added while watching first time this video
These tutorials are awesome! Keep them coming. I'm trying to transition from 3ds Max to Blender 2.8 and the new version is much better than what I tried a couple of years ago. Blender is definitely moving in the right direction.
@@PrinceWesterburg I'm waiting for the implementation of the new precision modeling improvements. Currently snapping is a bit inferior compared to Max and I use snapping all the time since I do mostly arch-vis and product renderings.

Not a Wacom then! My PenPartner works fine, on XP and is no different to the Bambo but they won't write drivers for 7, 8 or 10. Luckily I found a Intuos in a charity shop for £8 - Gawd bless old women who don't know what they are looking at! :o)

Sometimes while sculpting a few brushes invert (for example to lay strips of clay I need to press Ctrl). I am aware of the fact that the tools have a + and - switch. So, to lay strips of clay, the switch has to be on the - position. What’s going on?

Hi everyone, I just wanted to ask if you can change a keybinding like ,,shift+spacebar" into ,,side-mousebutton+spacebar" , because i have multiple buttons on my mouse, however keybindings only seem to work in the order: ,,hold key then press mousebutton" and not :,,hold mousebutton then press key". Why is his sculpt so smooth I have watched to the end to when he used multiresolution and I've even looked into subsurface modifier but my model always looks pixely or weird his looks smooth and high resolution
In object mode, select the object, right click and choose "Shade Smooth". Another thing you can do it to increase your object subdivisions. To do this go into edit mode, press 3 to go into face selection, press a to select all faces, right click and choose subdivide. Do this about 2 - 3 times. In case you didn't know. But if you already knew, just disregard this comment.

I have a base shape but when I use for example the clay tool on it it will actually add volume on the side of the head but it will actually subtract/smooth on the front of the head? Excuse me does shift +x permanently delete unused textures or materials as well?, I find it finikey to have to change my outliner settings and dig for it just to do a simple task such as that
textures with 0 users are kept in the program's memory, but (as long as it hasn't changed from 1.79) are deleted upon closing the program. You must delete them manually if you would like to during a session. This helps both with juggling single-use textures during work (imagine how bad it would be if you had to remake a texture every time you deleted an object with one) and saving save file memory. You can also just put it on something or package the texture in the save file if you want it permanently tied to the file, regardless of external files. basically, blender sweeps up the failed tests and leftover chaff after you close it.
Hi, I was watching the video and I found really helpful the F1 help option, but I tried it in my blender and it didn't work, is there a reason? I'm on 2.83.1, the right clic option is functional but the F1 seems to do nothing, any help would be appreciate it :) EDIT: I just tried again and it only works with certain options, for example in the material panel, the F1 option works, but in the viewport it doesn't, like going to the viewport option "Add>Mesh>Plane" and pressing the F1 it does nothing, but you can right clic and go to "Online Manual" with no problems, so... maybe a bug? :D

Yes but it will be sculpted and no crisp like a boolean removal. Also, don't forget virtually all object sculpted are retopologised before use in any output format be it EeVee, game engine, Cycles, export to other packages etc.

Another thing, I would like to sign up for Blender Cloud, but it would be unhelpful for me because of all the English content. One more thing, congratulations on the initiative to demystify key parts of using Blender's sculpture mode. For the most common mistake I find on the part of developers and their incredibly powerful creations is that they forget to teach, to explain clearly and patiently how to use the resources of their creations. So take note of these suggestions and continue explaining how to use Blender without fear of sharing knowledge, teaching improved workflow techniques. Blender needs this! More and more people should be attracted to using Blender to sculpt, model, texture and animate commercially in many languages. Hugs!

Did you not watch the end? It shows you? They put a modifier on for multiresolution and with Dynatop you would add detail onto the sphere.

You can select a default sculpt scene when you create a new file and it creates this sphere and puts you in sculpt mode automatically.

Choose the tool that has the double lines, like the 12 and 13th tool down.
What is the difference between the smooth brush and pressing shift with any other tool?
Afaik there is no difference. Shift is just a shortcut to get to smoothing easily and fast.
So I have a cube and I have the sculpt view selected. I'm clicking around on the shape and NOTHING happens? Why? What am I doing wrong?

Never mind! My problem was just that my starting shape didn’t have enough vertices for me to see any effect.
Can you bring in a model that was box modeled in another program and add detail in Blender, then bring it back to the other program for animating?

HOW DID YOU GET THE BALL IN SCULPT MODE
Open project as file -> new -> sculpting. You get the sphere as your default asset instead of the cube.

I fail to see anyting sculptable on the sculpting mode. All i have is just a cube on the screen, that i can not shape.

because you have symmetry on in the top right you should XYZ coordinates just unclick them
