    I grew up there until age of 7, I still have memories of how good the foods tasted and been wanting to go back for the food, I finally went back last year, and it almost brought tears into my eyes because all the childhood memories just hit me through my taste buds.
    Didn’t get to eat Lai-Lai that time, it was too many people waiting, I can eat 30 of their dumplings when I was little😂 , wondering if I still can, and their sour-spicy soup(souan-la-tang) is the best in Taiwan I would say.

      @TravelerPat That is correct. Food is dirt cheap in the US because of mass production however labor is so high, by the time you get it its 5 times expensive. Farmers sell chicken for 50 cents per pound to supermarkets or to Macdonalds. Farmers sell vegetables to supermarkets for like 10-25 cents per pound but stores sell it for $2 per pound because of cost and labor. I'm aware those street foods in Asia would be a cuisine in the US, but most Americans would not have the guts or palette for it. Only true foodies would eat that kind of stuff. Most think Panda Express is authentic Asian food here :)

    Since you guys explore more of Taiwan than I ever will, maybe you guys can look for a childhood dish that I never see, hear, or read about. It's a sweet glutinous rice porridge called "mee goh muei" (pronounced that way anyway). Don't know if it's obscure, super local, or maybe it's just unpopular! But my mom used to make it and I always wondered why I never saw it outside of our home. Otherwise good to see you guys back in Taiwan.

What IS BARBARIC is that you chose to use a plastic glove when we are all facing the effects of climate change. Be more conscious and culturally agile. Especially since you travel and go to countries that eat with their hands.

  • @seecha8970
    @seecha8970 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    So with most traditional Asian dishes, broth soups, are not meant to be consumed as a standalone dish. The broth is often used to compliment and flavor the rice. You can do this in two ways. 1st is to spoon the broth into your rice dish until the broth level is to your liking. Or 2nd, you eat the chicken with the rice, together, then you spoon the broth into your mouth to moisten the rice and chicken. The combination of all the flavor combines and compliments each other and you have a party in your mouth.

    HI LUKE & SABRINA! Good video. I must say that the food looked a little bland if I'm being honest. Especially compared to some of the other countries. You still made it look interesting and fun! I was in Taipei in 1986 and it was my first introduction to "street food". I loved it and the city as well. On my list to return to Asia one day. I love that you seem to be reading the comments and implementing what your viewers are asking for. I mentioned a few videos back about introducing Sabrina (and whoever else you're with) at the beginning of the video. Also about being more natural and relaxed in front of the camera. Lots of comments noticed it and LOVE IT! Not saying u did it bcuz of my comments, just saying that it's nice that you're listening to your viewers and I believe it's paying off! Good to see u two having a good time on this adventure. Wish it was me! Lol I have a ?....when u give the cost of a dish, is that for one dish or the entire bill for both of u? Always a little confused about that. I think it's per serving yes? OK. See you next video. Be safe out there! : ) TOODLES NOODLE

    All is well but for a couple of foreigners commenting on Asian food, I am not sure about the relevance.
