I would assume a key technique to create this knot or a Black blade isn't using Haki on it, but instead is probably the ultimate technique a tier above anything we have seen so far. When we see Zoro or anyone else use Haki on a blade (or anyone on anything), it gets a black coating. Key word there is Coating. They are simply applying an outer layer of Haki to the sword/arm/whatever. The object isn't permanently turned black because its just an outer shell that sheds away. But that isn't the only way to use Armament Haki.
So I think, the Black blade creation technique is actually the same technique used here by JoyBoy, which doesn't require Conquerors, but is instead the other form of Armament, Emission and Destruction. You can emit Armament haki to attack from a short distance, and then step that up and you can inject that emitted Haki and use that to utterly destroy the object from the inside. But I notice the key there, this is the only time we ever see or hear about Haki going INSIDE objects in any way, until now with this Knot. I think its the next step of haki, you learn to inject the Haki into an object, which is itself already the highest tier of Armament we know of, and go even further, instead of just letting the Haki Rampage in the object, you do so in a specific way to reinforce the object. If you do it with Conquerors Haki, the object is now a box that upon being destroyed releases the contained Conquerors attack. Do this with Armament on a sword, and you get a black blade. This is actual Imbuing of Haki INTO the object instead of coating it.

I believe Ohara pointed out the Japanese word Joyboy used was weave, so I do think it's more than just flooding the object with haki, but that a particular technique is required in order to achieve things like the haki rope, or black blades.

Untying a knot can signify cutting his ties with Joy Boy and letting the past go. This has some more weight to it because he acknowledged Luffy as an individual and accepted that Joy Boy was long gone.

That is the problem with immortality. To be the last remnant of times that are long since gone. No one is around that remembers them and the people that lived but you. No wonder Emet was reluctant to release the knot, but propably must have been so happy to be finally able to let go.

Knott tying in Japanese culture is actually VERY symbolic especially with giving gifts. In this case JB being the gift giver and E being the recipient. The knot shows a bond between the two and JB’s haki within is the gift he give to E. Look up for better detail ofc.
Also I like to think of knot being undone more like a kink in a hose being removed causing a rush of water going through the tube.

  • @RalphIDK

I'm wondering if this supports the theory that the Gorosei don't have powers themselves, and it's actually all Imu's power? What if Joyboy's haki was actually targeting Imu specifically, and anyone else who passed out just got caught in the way. None of the Gorosei seemed disturbed or disheveled over losing their powers, but Imu was reeling like they got hit directly- despite being that farthest away.

    • @VolKNo0
      @VolKNo0 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

Didn’t Oda explain that only readers and viewers can see the color of Armament Haki?
Additionally, Inuarashi mentioning that the Road Poneglyphs are red contradicts this idea. Since Oda states that Haki is colorless to the characters within the One Piece world, Inuarashi shouldn’t be able to perceive the Poneglyphs as red.
Nevertheless, it’s an interesting theory you’ve got there. I wish it could be true, but it can’t.

    • @rainyliquid5644
      @rainyliquid5644 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@VolKNo0Haki definitely can be seen at least to some extent since black blades exist, and whenever people put haki into their weapons they reference that as being a black blade even if temporary.
So either black blade just gets its name from nothing or they call them that because the blade has changed.

    • @VolKNo0
      @VolKNo0 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@rainyliquid5644 Hmm, I see… that idea might be the only plausible explanation. But based on what we currently know, it seems to apply only to blades. Until we see another inanimate object that can permanently change color due to Haki, we can assume it’s not possible to infuse Haki with poneglyphs.
Additionally, we’ve already been informed about why Poneglyphs are indestructible. These ancient stones, created by the Kozuki clan during the Void Century, are made from a unique, unbreakable material. A unique, indestructible stone. That serves as the explanation as to why they’re indestructible, rather than being a normal material that was made indestructible via armament haki.

hey @Tekking101 At 18:25 you say that we haven't really seen Usopp use Obvservation Haki since Dressrosa - he definitely is shown using Observation Haki in Egghead. If you look at chapter 1094, there are a series of reaction panels that show everyone on Egghead sensing the arrival of Saturn when he does that demon teleportation thingy. In those reaction panels, we see Kizaru, Luffy, Zoro, Lucci, Jimbei, Usopp (with Nami and Chopper) and lastly the Vice Admirals. When you look at the context of those panels (reactions to Saturn arriving), Usopp's face contrasted with Nami and Chopper's, as well as Usopp's "Hurry" I'm pretty sure that's a clear indicator from Oda that Usopp is using Obversation Haki at this point (consciously or not).
I'm also pretty sure that Usopp used it in Wano too (something about knowing where certain parts of the army were - it felt real obvious to me at the time, trying to find that chapter).
This means we saw Usopp's Haki bloom in Dressrosa, he didn't use it in Zou, then Oda subtly hints at Usopp using it in Wano (I really need to find that chapter), and then now there's a pretty clear signal from Oda that he's using it in Egghead. I believe that all these subtle hints are leading up towards something In elbaf and it's definitely going to be more haki related for Usopp as opposed to getting some kind of weapon (though Sogeking with mjolnir sounds awesome - a flying Usopp).
I've always loved your videos Tekking, we need more people on Earth like you!

My working theory on why Joyboy's Haki only affected who it did is that it is a bit of both the scenarios you posited. I believe stored Haki acts on the Will the person it came from gave it while storing it, but that the Will Joyboy infused it with was something like "Protect this person from his enemies" rather than Willing it to target certain people, thus the releaser's perception of friend and foe guided who it targeted/excluded.

What if it’s not just your mastery of haki but your ability to hear the voice of things? Like you need to master your own will but also have complete understanding or resonance with the thing you’re imbuing your haki into? Would work especially well with how things like blades are often personified, particularly where Zoro is concerned

Wat I find the most interesting about Haki is the specific use of the word "color" when describing the so far 3 main different kinds, cuz even with colors there are a certain number of categorized ones but the ways they can vary are numerous.
I'm sure watever Shanks arc we get is going to crack the nut of wat haki is capable of in One Piece. He is the single Emperor so far that has no devil fruit like Roger himself. We've already seen him do two brand new crazy most likely haki moves already, the bolt he sent to Green Bull on Wano and his super speed jump against Kid.

something i just realized while listening to the bit about black blades is that there is no way the haki used in forging the black blades is armament. armament coating in-universe is invisible and only appears black to us so that we know when it's being used. so if you poured armament into a sword, it wouldn't look black at all, it would still be invisible. however, conqueror's is both visible in-universe AND black, with the black lightning. i'm calling my bets now 100% the black blades are a result of conqueror's and not armament

the way of the sword in one piece has always seemed to have inherent connections to haki. zoro’s master telling him as a kid about cutting what he wants to cut and not cutting what he doesn’t want to cut, being able to cut paper and able to cut steel,, the way zoro dodged the rubble against Mr. 1 was very observation haki-esque, and then cutting steel (and a devil fruit power at that) was very armament haki-esque,, and the fact that master swordsmen in ryuma and mihawk are the only ones with black blades and also both probably have conquerors,, it’s like the way of the sword also inherently teaches the way of haki, or they are just very interwoven.

Im sure its been pointed out before, but perhaps the haki in this case functioned similarly to Fairy Law, where anyone not viewed as an enemy wont be affected by it. Joyboy was fighting the world after all, so it stands to reason Emeth would see anyone trying to harm Luffy and his allies as enemies, making them the targets.

My headcanon is that the rope was covered in armerment Haki, like the Kuja Arrows. And we know that Armerment Haki can stay on an object, like the black blades. And Haki is able to hold/counter/contain Haki.
Basicly a Haki Box, that stores Conquerers Haki, which got opend when the knot was opend and the Haki could escape/be released.

Speaking of haki, How bout the HUGE reveal of how Garp's ship managed to fly over Hachinosu!🤯 Up to now, we thought that maybe garp general-taoed it, then jumped onboard after tossing it; instead, it was possibly the greatest display of haki precision, control, & variation thus far seen in the story! Garp swirled a minimal mitt of haki around 1 hand, GENTLY bumped his ship without actually touching it, and THIS was enough to coup de burst it! Not just the POWER, but the PRECISION to "bounce" his ship EXACTLY to the coordinates/location given by the swordmembers on location! Then he charges a punch, imbued with enough haki to outshine the sun, released from HUNDREDS of feet in the air, that VAPORIZES the island's buildings in its wake! Then we're reminded that this attack, which is up there with ANY feat shown thus far in One Piece, reflects Garp in a weaker stage of his life!! WHEW!!!😮‍💨

And thanx for reminding me about the difference between being adept (albeit highly), and being an ACTUAL master; it's easy to forget because of his accomplishments & absurd growth-curve, but Luffy still has a good ways to go to realize his joyboy/ultimate potential!👍🏿

I think this implies a lot of stuff.
    1. That the goroseis power is tied to imu, since we see imu react to joyboys haki as if he was hit himself. Also keep in mind although joy boy said this was his strongest haki it wouldn’t be equal to his most powerful move because there’s more than haki that goes into that it could be df, strength and other things.
    2. I just wanna get this off rq while on the gorosei topic Saturn is the only one that hasn’t returned to the room and Saturn is who Devon copied…this to me means that something has to happen to Saturn stopping him from leaving egghead right away or at all, and the Blackbeard pirates are going to make a move on that a lot sooner than later.
    3. With the black blades I think it’s the same concept but in a different application. I think instead of conquerors haki it’s armament haki, turning the blade black. BUT I think in the same way you can release the haki in the knot you can release the haki from the blade in like one final trump card move. I think this will be shown later and I think with oden instead of armament he used conq haki on his blades so they didn’t turn black but they still got power amps, And that could be why Enma hungers for conq haki it’s a cursed blade so it has almost its own will mixed with this ancient haki technique could’ve just made a crazy unique sword. And I think zoro learns this obviously, and it also could mean shadow ryuma spared zoro and adding more to that moment and what zoro could’ve actually done with the sword and why it was kept as the sacred treasure of wano.
    4. I think the concept I talked about before could be what makes mjolnir so powerful and it will be the sacred treasure of elbaf. And usopp could either get it temporarily or permanently in order to do something on elbaf. Ironically giving usopp conq haki without him actually having it which is my favorite part of this theory. This will be usopps power up he could use the hammer on it own or use it with kabuto although idk if it’ll return or not so this could be like a finisher move.

With how the haki was able to target things that Emeth wanted it to, I think Joyboy somehow put the stipulation into it that it would only attack those that Emeth saw as an enemy. Joyboy says use it when you want to save yourself or protect someone important to you. That last part makes me think Joyboy had the capability to add the stipulation that Emeth can determine the targets.

Not sure if anybody brought up the straw hats before, but they (both luffy’s and the one imu has in cold storage) might also be haki vessels like the knot. that might even explain the cold storage in the first place, keeping it frozen might be a way to ensure the haki in joyboy’s hat remains dormant. TBH I think oda is above it but lesser mangakas certainly would reveal that their protagonist carried around their power system’s equivalent of a tactical nuke for the entirety of the story

Two things I HAVE to mention
    1) Thanks to the SBS where we learned about Zoro's lineage, we learned that 10 out of 25 people stay in the East Blue to found Shimotsuki Village.
That means that 15 people wondered around the world with KNOWLEDGE FROM WANO.
That means every single character with something linking to Japanese culture (Wano = Japan) is 100% a descendant from Wano.
    That includes:
    - Fujitora, pretty obvioius link to Wano, PLUS the latest SBS where we learned his sword was forged by a Fugetsu, meaning his sword was handed down from his father.
    - Akainu, Hiroshima dialet AND yakuza sleeve tattoo ("irezumi")
    - Kumadori from CP9 and his mom (revelaed in another SBS), obvious kabuki aesthetic
    - Ipponmatsu, obvious Japanese name and sword knowledge
    - Tashigi, thanks to "anime genetics" it's pretty clear she's another Shimotsuki cousin, the same way Shimotsuki Ushimaru is related to Zoro but not his dad but great uncle, also she's confirmed to be born in the East Blue in her vivre card (which I bought here in Japan)
Sword grading is a thing from Wano.
Wano was a closed off country so NOBODY should know that Shusui has a grade and yet they know it's a Supreme blade. How? Knowledge spread from those 15 people.
That means the knowledge to make black blades is also "out there".
    2) We learned from the story that HAKI HAS ALWAYS EXISTED and that it has levels 1- invislbe armor 2- black coating 3- emission 4- internal destruction.
The Tobiroppo were all stated in Vivre Cards to have Armament and Observation and yet Franky beat one of them without? Obviously they were both using invisible armor.
Jinbei's Tekkai (Armament Haki) beat Who's Who's Armament Haki (Shigan) and broke his finger the same way Katakuri hurt Luffy's arm despite both using Armament Haki.
I also have Brogy and Dorry's recent Vivre Cards and they don't mention they have any Haki whatsoever, even Zoro's Egghead Vivre Card doesn't say he has Conqueror's Haki when we've seen he does.
The Vivre Cards are good sources of complementary info but they're consitantly being updated.
All this to say, it's OBVIOUS Franky has armement haki, the invisible armor.

With the Kuja we know that haki can be put into objects. It could be something similar to Ryuo haki just with conquerors haki. Also we know the dials can absorb and hold things. So it could have been in the past people could make it so other items can store things
