By the way, I just started my car from my Apple Watch - gonna surprise and amaze my friends.

On the lock and unlock function - wouldn’t the key need to be on you in order to activate? In other words, I leave my car in garage. If I’m going in/ out of garage are you saying it will lock and unlock even though key is not on me. I’ve noticed when I go inside and place keys on key ring I hear it unlock sometimes. Just got car two days ago. Used with 13 k miles so trying to learn all of these options so if you can elaborate that would be great
That feature will only work if the key fob is on you, if it's in the car it should not be locking. Only other way possible is if you have your phone to be setup as a digital key plus as well, that would cause it to also lock and unlock.

Go into climate controls settings, you have to disable the AUTO mode in order to see the option to take manual control of the airflow, check out the climate control settings video on my page.

Inside the climate control menu you should see settings there located, there you should be able to find air recirculation and switch it to just flow from within the vehicle.
Great "how-to" videos-the best I have found, and I have disregarded the rest. You covered almost all of my questions over the last few months since I received my M440i convertible. My latest question for you is: How did you get the setup on the right-hand screen? I can't seem to get it the same way. I love the content in my sights instead of scrolling for it. Can I customize it with different apps?
Glad to be of help to you!! Congrats on the M440i CV I came close to getting that one! The setup on the right side of my screen is only specific to M Competition Vehicles, so there would not be a way to get it for a m440i. For the m440i you can customize it a little bit, just try clicking and holding on the widget you wish to move around and that should do the trick.
2020 x3 will not have remote start, that was introduced in late 2022. It most likely should have it. It would be best to confirm it first because during that model year BMW did have a shortage for the kick sensor feature so there were some models that did not have it. But most should.
Question for the community. I'm thinking about buying my first BMW at a dealership. Its an X5 s40i 2022 with 27k miles. One owner lease with clean Carfax report. It still has the original warranty and it's certified. It also has brand new tires/brakes, well maintained. Its the premium package with the leather seats, the manual curtains, self parking/heads up display, the upgraded sound system. They are asking $44k, what are the opinions on this price?

Hi -- how would I get the Signal app from my iPhone to Carplay and on my car? When I'm on my iPhone and in the Carplay, I don't see all the apps available. Also it doesn't let me do anything with some of the apps that it already lists there (Signal is not even listed there). Thanks. Your videos are very informative.
Not all the apps will be compatible to carplay. If you have it on your phone and are not seeing it, you may need to update the app via the app store, or it may just not be compatible yet. One thing you could check for is in your phone, go into SETTINGS > GENERAL > CARPLAY > CLICK ON YOUR BMW > CUSTOMIZE > here you'll see a list of all the apps, try checking to see if signal is there, if not, then it's not compatible.
There isn't a way to set it to every month, I have it set to individual, which just means that I have control on when I want to reset it. So I just reset it every first of the month to keep track.
You would have to have the new idrive system such as idrive 8, 8.5 or 9. It doesn't work for iDrive 7 vehicles. I'd have my phone connected to Carplay and then when you go into the settings menu that show all the BMW Apps along with the carplay apps, you should see waze there too. Then click and hold Waze and that should ask you if you want to add to shortcut.

Love your videos. Do you know of any iphone mount that would attach to this new style 4 series vent? I have always used vent mounts to keep my phone cool when charging in the summer. But cant find any mounts that attaches to this shape of vent. Would really appreciate suggestions
I'm having a hard time trying to solve this too for mine haha. The best i've came by is the magnetic mounts that can be mounted anywhere in the car by the 3m adhesive tape in the back.
Hey man update. I tried the idrive reboot. I didn't work out. I talked to one of the people after I serviced the car. They said it will be fine after the remote software upgrade. Do you think I'll eventually get upgraded to 8.5 in the remote software upgrade?
RSU's do usually fix the bugs and issues a lot of the times. Another thing I've discovered was to check your wifi settings, there maybe a BMW connection inside there that you should also forget and if you go into your iPhone settings, check the CARPLAY settings and forget the device there as well. Then restart the phone see if that does the trick.
I have a 2025 X5. I want to deactivate auto unlock when I get close to the car, but could not find the option as you described in the video. I’d appreciate if you can help.
Sure go into the settings and search for COMFORT ACCESS. You should see it on the right and it should have the option to unlock when approaching the vehicle.

I think it's some glitch, bc mine doesn't work with the watch ether and I have the regular digital key. I know it works fine for the vehicles that have ultra wide band, but only the new higher end BMWs have that.
does your car have idrive 8 or 8.5? because my 2024 3 series has idrive 8, latest version 07/24 but the shortcuts menu looks like the old one when id8 launched but i have the new bmw font in the instruments
I have 8.5 and I also have the M competition version which is different from the rest. For the 3 series it's not going to have the menu items at the bottom like it does for 8.5. 3 series and 4 series are currently limited to idrive 8 only.
Its barely useful. My 10 year old Jeep had cooled seats and they felt wonderful in the hot Texas summers and cooled the leather quickly. BMW's vented seats just barely keep my back from sweating, but definitely don't feel cool. It's just like their rear warning radar. It activates, but only when you're pretty much already going to hit someone. Again, my old Jeep would tell me a car was crossing from behind before I could even see it. The BMW is a great car, but has some serious f-ups in design as well.
@@richarda3764 the vented seats are one of many things I hate about this car. Also, tons of useless features. These luxury SUVs are mostly for snobbery. I heavily and deeply regret dumping $100,000 on it.
@@tatowebI agree on the useless features. The hand gestures stuck me as really pointless, but I'm sure some people like it. I personally didn't buy it out of snobbery, but out of styling and speed/handling which I think are very good. I also didn't buy brand new as the price drops significantly after just a year.
Didn't see them in the Amazon store. I would buy from the parts department at your local dealer. Keep in mind they don't make it for the rears, just the front on the M4s.

Do you have one that discusses the "notify" button within XM radio that allows you to be alerted when a particular song or artist is played? My notify button used to work, now it doesn't. Can't figure it out even after talking with a genius, googling and reviewing the entertainment manual. Hope you can direct me. Thanks - and keep up the great videos!
I do not have one yet but been meaning to do a video on sirius radio for BMWs, video coming soon! Biggest thing with it is using the option button near the drive controller, you should be able to edit and control notify by the use of that.

Hey man, thanks for posting this video. I have a question I have an iDrive 8 system (not 8.5/9) and I have noticed that my tachometer and speedometer is a bit laggy when the gears shift. I have a loaner currently (it's a 2024 x1), and it has smoother tachometer animations and is less laggy and works super fast, it is smoother and not even laggy compared to my iDrive 8, it has 8.5 I think, is it because of the 8.5 system, is that why the animation on the gauge cluster is smoother. If I am able to have the tachometer and speedometer (on the gauge cluster) work fast like in the iDrive 8.5, what am i supposed to do? Thanks for your help.
Try the idrive reboot, which is holding down the vol button for 30 secs, with the engine on. If that doesn't do the trick then it's a glitch that service would have to look into.
You may have to disable it before getting into the vehicle. It should just default to what you had set it to last unless you use the remote engine start feature.
I am very frustrated that if I want to put something in my back seat or unlock my passanger door, I have to either open my door to do so or hit my key fob unlock twice. My previous car and by wife's allowed me to just grab the handle of the rear passanger door and it unlocked all the doors. Can i do thie in my 2025 X7
Yes you can, look into the settings and search for doors and window settings. You'll see a setting in there where it's currently set to drivers side door unlock but you can set it to all doors.
Hey - what about the "Record all cameras" button (hold the P button for 5 sec)!! This is something all the Tesla owners crow about - but we have it too!!
Try going into the BMW ID settings and adding the phone as a digital key, if not, try removing the key and re adding it once your profile is logged in.
Yes, one of the biggest reasons I opted out for the M8 was because of the older OS system. It's still super fast but I prefer the newer tech hence why I went with this model. Love the m8 but it will be one of the last ones they will be making before the discontinue it, hence why they havent made any updates to it.
Thanks for the tip about the Comfort Access options to control the auto locking, as it is annoying if both are turned on. The only minor downside to your suggestion is that for newer models of the X5 at least, there is no longer touch sensitive rear door handles for unlocking purposes. Not a big deal, but disappointing cost cutting by BMW for a vehicle at this price point.
@@curiously1510 Yes agreed. I’ve found the best way to get around this is to set the unlock function to all doors instead of just the driver side door.
I have a civic as my daily!! Haha, trust me I've started from a accord and worked my way up to it. Anything is possible, and all the info needed to get better is all out there online, and on youtube. Like the person below me said, believe you can do it and manifest it =)
@@BeamerViewTruth be told, the car has so many systems to discover that one actually does have to spend time sitting in the car while not driving in order to work one’s way through the possibilities. I value you doing so much of the discovery work and sharing it with your viewers. Having a M4 to sit in also makes things a bit more enjoyable.
They are making some drastic changes, BMW are making changes to their design team, hopefully the designs take a turn for the better the next few years!
To correct parts of this video, As a BMW Corp employee, most BMW owners as of the last 2 years, are not users of apple car play but android auto users and its growing to most as apple phone sales are fading away to the lack of current tech etc Anyway... Also to note i drive 9 and going to 9.5 will be fully android based software
Yeah uh no. Just bought my 2025 X5 40i a few months ago. Apple iPhone 15 Plus and CarPlay user. If you shut it out going forward, then BMW is not paying attention.
@JohnGuidetti751 Data From our BMW connected drive services, which all current models have. It distinctly shows what phone model is attached to the vehicle and the acct. You will like I drive 9 and 9.5 as it will be all android based software and takes many cues from the current android phones.Its really slick!! ps..Parts of Samsung's version of advanced android ai will be in the mix within i drive :)
what a douche thing to say, features i use that you don't. then again a ring on the middle finger and tacky red interior i wouldn't expect any less. oh the "do yourself a favor" is funny too.

How do you get your screen in that format? Tire pressure / weather / phone. I do have 8.5
This is 8.5 but the difference would be because its a M competition vehicle, they have a different style.

I have a 2025 X7. Where is or does it have a lug nut key to change the tires, and where is it located?
You should have the wheel lock key located in the bottom compartment of the trunk, ether off to the side or in a white box.
I have 22 330E n I always use auto H it helps a lot through traffic too

It should connect automatically, if it's not, make sure both the car and phone are up to date with the latest software.

How did you do your right screen? You have multiple widgets there. Weather, tire pressure, etc.

Seems pretty good to me, I would buy. Just note that the sdrive is rear wheel drive I believe. Other than that things look good.

Great demo. How do set value individual to see how many miles you done every month?

Little to no feel at all to be honest. If anything just prevents the back sweating.

I am very frustrated that if I want to put something in my back seat or unlock my passanger door, I have to either open my door to do so or hit my key fob unlock twice. My previous car and by wife's allowed me to just grab the handle of the rear passanger door and it unlocked all the doors. Can i do thie in my 2025 X7
Yes you can, look into the settings and search for doors and window settings. You'll see a setting in there where it's currently set to drivers side door unlock but you can set it to all doors.

You can simply use an automation in the iPhone to start Waze every time CarPlay connects. Nothing to touch or say, all automatic.

Try going into the BMW ID settings and adding the phone as a digital key, if not, try removing the key and re adding it once your profile is logged in.

I have a 2024 M8 GC and I have old key fob. Strange that a new vehicle came with the old style fob, not that I'm complaining. It's just weird.
Yes, one of the biggest reasons I opted out for the M8 was because of the older OS system. It's still super fast but I prefer the newer tech hence why I went with this model. Love the m8 but it will be one of the last ones they will be making before the discontinue it, hence why they havent made any updates to it.
Thanks for the tip about the Comfort Access options to control the auto locking, as it is annoying if both are turned on. The only minor downside to your suggestion is that for newer models of the X5 at least, there is no longer touch sensitive rear door handles for unlocking purposes. Not a big deal, but disappointing cost cutting by BMW for a vehicle at this price point.
@@curiously1510 Yes agreed. I’ve found the best way to get around this is to set the unlock function to all doors instead of just the driver side door.
Can you change the voice of the personal assistant?
Not yet, they will be able to in the future however but this could take 1-2 years.

I value you doing so much of the discovery work and sharing it with your viewers. Having a M4 to sit in also makes things a bit more enjoyable.

Yeah uh no. Just bought my 2025 X5 40i a few months ago. Apple iPhone 15 Plus and CarPlay user. If you shut it out going forward, then BMW is not paying attention.

@JohnGuidetti751 Data From our BMW connected drive services, which all current models have. It distinctly shows what phone model is attached to the vehicle and the acct. You will like I drive 9 and 9.5 as it will be all android based software and takes many cues from the current android phones.Its really slick!! ps..Parts of Samsung's version of advanced android ai will be in the mix within i drive :)
