I’m 32, and have listened to pretty much all of these songs since I was 7. I still absolutely love listening to them one more time to see your reactions. Thank you sir ✊
Mos Def's singing has always been interesting to me. He obviously doesn't have the strongest voice but is so soulful that it works really well. He's been using it on a lot of his popular songs, from the fan-favorite "Umi says" to "Travellin' Man" or even when being featured by his friends Da Bush Babees on "The Love Song" or the lesser-known "S.O.S.". So depending on how much you liked this one those songs could be worth a listen to you as well.
What's even more interesting is the singing of Black Thought which suprised me on "Conception". The range on his voice was way different then on "Silent Treatment" back in the early 90s.
@@Maleek_Bae I mean the Silent Treatment 12'' had 4 remixes and all of them removed Thought's chorus. ;) Maybe they rushed that part cause Conception sounds much better in that regard.
So happy you finally heard Black Thought, I don't want to add to the massive list but will be great times when you can get some more Black Thought/The Roots songs. Thought was also on Big Pun's only album on the song "Super Lyrical" which is the ideal title. His Funk Flex 10 minute freestyle may be his Apex...he paints vivid pictures with his words.
Love you channel, I grew up in the 80s & 90s I'm requesting a few here that u should def check out; Eminem & Jay Z 'Renegade,' Nas 'If I ruled the world' & Tupac's radio version 'Keep yo head up,' Eminem's 'classics; Sing for the moment,' & 'White America' 'Cleaning out my closet,' 'Stan' 'Lose Yourself ' Dre dre 'Nuthin but a G thang' 'Forgot about Dre' Public Enemy 'Fight the power' Fugees 'Fu-gee-la' 'Ready or not' etc, lol so many more you're missing ❤️
Thanks for the suggestions! There is a Nas poll up right now on my channel page under Community. It looks like If I Ruled the World is going to win. I'm doing Eminem in chronological order. I'm in MMLP now. I know Stan and Lose Yourself from before so I can't react to those. Both of those Dre songs are on my list. My reaction to Rebel Without a Pause posts on April 16 (I've heard Fight the Power from back in the day). And both of those Fugees' songs are on my request list.
One of my favorite things I miss about 90s hip hop was how certain groups would make remixes which like this would contain a new beats and verses (native tongues was the 1st I could remember) i.e. Bonita Applebaum , the roots had maxi singles such as " proceed" that would have 4 or 5 different versions each completely different and special in its own way. Sometimes also they'd sneak remixes of different single for the hell of it.
@@ABoomerReacts They do remixes but not ones that sound entirely different only sharing the theme or Title like you mentioned with the respiration remix, how its sounds like a completely different song.
Sterling work yet again Boomer. 👍 I’ve never even heard this. Maybe they should’ve called it Desperation. Like they did with Definition & RE:Definition. Hey, there’s your next Blackstar tracks to react to 👊

@@ABoomerReacts He also had a major role in The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, probably not the first kind of movie that would come to mind for a Mos Def appearance.

Also random: now that Will Smith and the whole "Oscar Slap" thing happened, I'm surprised you haven't reacted to one of his songs yet (either as Fresh Prince or Will Smith). @@ABoomerReacts I could see that being a legitimate concern. Then again, if you held a poll asking people if they'd have a problem with it, you'd get a good guage for how your viewers would see it
this is titled as a remix because it is produced by one of the most revered hip hop producers of all time, Pete Rock. He takes other songs, and completely changes the musical background of them. oftentimes they are superior to the original and he usually says "another Pete Rock remix" somewhere in the song.
@@ABoomerReacts sometimes they have different verses but a lot of times he takes the acapella version of the song (which is usually included with the vinyl release) and will put them over a brand new beat.

I never knew about this version! It's going on my playlist.
Me either
I never knew about it until it got requested. lol
I'm excited for you
The original is dope but this versions more bouncy
@@The808Mixmaster I agree. But like I say in the video. It's more like Respiration II instead of a remix.
David Bowie once said that Mos Def’s ‘blastin holes in the night til she bled sunshine’ is the most beautiful lyric he ever heard.
