Love the video, mainly because I also own this saw. Have had it almost a year and think it is superb. Very smooth and easy on the hand. Have not encountered the blade releasing when backing up but will see if I can make it happen. As far as blade deflection goes, I think blade choice has as much to do with this problem as the saw dose. Change of subject, We have the same taste in nail guns. I also have the same two Ryobi nailers you have on your wall. I purchased an adapter so I can use my DeWalt 20v battery’s with these Ryobi nail guns. Please keep making the video’s, learned new things about a saw I have, thanks.

Thanks for the quick response. The battery adapter was purchased on eBay. Also have one for my old 18v Black and Decker tools (Dewalt battery’s) the guy (wish I could remember his eBay store name, sorry) makes them with a 3-D printer. Has several combinations tool/battery - battery/tool. They work great.

Enjoyed you video! However, I have a tip for you on that guide (I have one). Mine is "slightly" different - it has two holes when flipped for circle cutting. But no matter, you could have put the guide into the saw from the opposite side to achieve the same effect (it's a circle, you can cut clockwise or counter clockwise). The hole used to anchor the guide must be on the leading side rather than the trailing side. On the trailing side, it points the saw blade out of the circle (and out of the desired cut path) - which is why the saw was fighting you. On the leading side it points the saw blade "into" the cut.

Variable speed dial separates the minimum and maximum speed into ranges and the trigger control to speed between ranges.
Think of highway, city and sub-division speeds.

I just bought it as part of a set and that bevel lever gave me so much trouble. At first it was tighten too much so I could move the lever. I entightened it a little to only realize that every time I would move it, the screw under would come lose. I found the trick though. You need to also screw the other screws around and it stays in place. There is a sweet spot to find. For such brand, they should have worked on a better system...

I agree, I hate it when adjustments don't click and snap into place. Tightening anything allows for quick wear, tear, and loosening.

It is currently not available on Amazon, but hopefully it will be back soon. I'll have to keep checking. As far as the source for the accessories: I left a link to a follow up video I did about how I found the edge guide. As far as the other accessories, I spent a lot of time watching every youtube video I could find as well as searching through message boards, amazon, and other tool websites to find as much as I could. But if you ever have any DeWALT tool related questions, that video link should be a great resource.

I just bought the other new brushless Dewalt jigsaw and it’s really good. I love it. It’s got the variable speed trigger and the variable speed wheel, so you can use both to control your speed. I wonder why they didn’t put that on your saw?? Also my new saw has positive locks for the bevel cuts. You loosen that black bar and then you push the shoe forward to change the bevel angle and it will lock into the different angles. Then when you want to go back to a 90 degree cut you loosen that black handle and push the shoe backwards and it locks into place to make a regular straight cut. I’m really surprised that your saw doesn’t do this. I gotta go back and look to see if your saw has that black bar.

The LEDs thing I noticed right away, they do blind on cuts from below, it would be so much better if they were switchable. Otherwise I'm very happy with it. Let’s talk about the dewalt stool wheels. Had them warranty once. Then I bought aftermarket of my own. Same thing though just wore out so quickly, but not as fast as the 3rd party casters Dewalt uses. How I know that cause getting them warranty at first was like pulling teeth compare how awesome they usually are about defects. They should have done 5 legs or something better than a frame that can handle 300lbs with no ankle strength! Lol I learn not to scoot or lean too hard on it which is dumb I can’t do in a rolly work stool

I currently have the D handle version I knew what those slots and that threaded hole were for but I too have until now spent endless hours looking everywhere trying to find the edge/circle guide that I thought it should’ve automatically came with. Also if one has an edge guide that will fit it already and just needs the threaded knob and spring it is the same one that works with the DCS 575 flex volt 7 1/4 inch circular saw, however the circular saws edge guide is way too wide to fit into the DCS334 or DC S33 fives edgeguide slots.

@@DudeSawdust I didn’t think of the light being a problem when coping until I watched the vid. But yes I can definitely see it as being a problem. I’ve still got my old 18V Dewalt jigsaw so I think I’ll hang on to it and just keep the shoe off of it for coping. There’s definitely no light on that old 18V. And because I bought a battery adapter for it when I first started converting to 20V I can use my 20v batteries on it. It all fits fine. The battery sticks out a little further than it’s originally designed to do, and looks a little funny but it’s not that bad.

Skilsaw 77 edge guide much better if it fits. I have my Milwaukee jigsaw on order after looking at both. Not going to throw my old corded jigsaws with the blade screw setup, it will outlive all the batteries. Don't think much difference between brush and brushless tools. Milwaukee cordless angle grinder use cheap Chinese bearings, so far mine is holding up. Not only that, you could not buy the individual parts like a switch, you need to buy the whole assemble including what's attached to it - like the controller and part of the motor by which time cost as much as a new unit. DeWalt is going the same rout.

The constant stating that brushless motors will outlast brushed is absolute horse shit. That's a lie spread by these manufacturers based on the brushes wearing down and even that takes decades the way most people use tools. Brushed motors will last for centuries because other than brush maintenance they are really invincible. Brushless motors most certainly have a finite life and that's purely based on the amount of fragile electronics that control everything. I love my cordless tools, but we've been hoodwinked into buying tools that won't last that are run by super expensive consumable power packs. They got everyone fighting over red vs blue vs yellow etc which of course clouds the real lies they tell. It's the biggest swindle since New Coke. That said, the barrel body jigsaws are awesome for coping, especially when there's no cord in your way.

Cordless jigsaw are so similar like everything else on the market it really comes down to price and color preference (even though Milwaukee is still at the top of the heap) , the features are all pretty standard these days. I say, whatever batteries you're specced into, that's what you should stay with. A few exceptions but honestly not much difference anymore.
