A few years ago, I downloaded several images of the Century-class from DeviantArt, and as impressed as I was by the design, I wondered about its history. Thanks for solving a 24th "Century" mystery! 😁

I loved this class of ship in bridge commander. USS Arcadia.

A very sleek design that compliments the Sovereign. From a distance, their differences are quite subtle but I think the size of the Century is perfect. I've said this before but I love when you can see a similar design language.

There were attempts made when the enterprise f design challenge was made but a whole bunch of people were uploading it calling it their own so it was disqualified and sadly the devs made it clear they won't add it because of that incident
Sorry but whats your source on this? Having discussed this class with many on the STO team I haven't heard that one, rather, the Century Class just lost out to the Odyssey Class as it was felt that design was better...
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios I don't exactly have a source but I did a post few months back on reddit about the century class on the sto subreddit and almost everyone told me about the incident, granted not all were exactly the same but the consistent part was a bunch of people tried submitting the century class as the new enterprise f and most were claiming they owned it or gave credit to DJ Curtis but didn't have permission to submit it witch was against the rules of the contest
The least consist part is cryptic's response to the incident but the most common claim is cryptic declared they will never add it because of the spam and the fact they didn't like the design

Always enjoy your content, but this class deserved a more positive spin, in my opinion. She was the stuff of legend in the Bridge Commander community back in the day.

I understand your feeling, but disagree! You see, the class was NOT chosen and although I love it, it's only a fan design, BC mod or no! So the fact I tried to include it at all shows the respect I have for it!

I have considered that, but not fully fleshed out yet!

If memory serves I think the DJ Curtis model was made for a Bridge Commander mod I think that predated the STO model this has been like 15 plus years so details might be a bit fuzzy.
It was submitted as a contender for the F, and THEN added to BC!

The Sovereign class was the correct choice over the Century class.
Love your prospective on the beta cannon ships I truly enjoy the visuals. There’s a division 14 ship featured in Lower Decks S1 E7 that’s very different I’d like to see your stardust on this one

It sort of looks like if an Intrepid class and Sovereign class had a baby.
Severely underrated design...in my opinion, FAR more visually pleasing than either the Odyssey or Sovereign classes. This should have been the -E, and if created too late for that, ABSOLUTELY the -F.

Depends how you look at it, scientifically yes, but in terms of dealing with hostiles, aliens or entities, then no!
I really dig this design and the history you gave it. I agree that the loss of the Enterprise-D to a 20 year old defective Klingon Bird Of Prey would be a huge embarrassment for Starfleet. Good job on this one, sir.
The anti-borg fleet had great designs but they were all on the smaller side except for the Sovereign. This would of been a great class for exploration and fleet action that didn't call for Big Daddy. Similar to the Nebula and Excelsior.

It was actually a design for a mod for Bridge Commander!
It's a pretty thing, but I like something a bit more compact, like a Magee class. I know, it's an order design, but I could easily enough do a proper refit and upgrade. I think that I have a way to shunt the delta radiation out of the nacelles,instead of requiring all of that expensive shielding that takes up so much space.
it makes sense for the century class to be a footnote as starfleet was facing dominion at the time of launch and the Galaxy was still fresh at the time
The centry class would be an excellent support ship to sovereign or as a ship stationed to the far border of the federation

I would make this one a Science build vessel in STO or maybe an intel one.
The impulse engines look tiny on this ship, and the ones on the pylons look like they're " tacked on".

It's a big Voyager.
I still love the Galaxy class 5 star, built for comfort and no slouch in offense and defense. Any of these other upgraded goodies could be retrofitted to my Galaxy class mega home. It's just not quite as nimble because of it's overall design. Still my choice if I could have one of the ships for now for real like a present from God.
She was in Star Trek Bridge Commander years before STO. A great design and a pleasure to fly.

Right, but Im not sure what your point is? As up to the point it was entered in to the contest, it was nothing more than a fan design... It was the STO contest that made it a big thing!

I knew DJCurtis very well virtually through the Star Trek Bridge Commander Community forum. He was (is) a master starship modeler and his creativity in designs were second to none. The Century Class is truly one of his best. I remember when he first introduced this ship design, all in the BC community were amazed at how beautiful and "canon-ish" this ship was. I like this video and I hope that DJ is out there, and sees this. IMO however, you gave this class of ship somewhat of a mediocre rap in this presentation - and I think she deserves a much better place of honor and reputation than what you assigned - but... this is your opinion. Most importantly though, I hope DJ would approve of you using his creation in this video with proper permissions.
First, I didnt give it a mediocre rep, as it IS a fan design, and just because YOU love it, doesnt make it anymore than that. Now, I love the design too, however, it DID lose the competition in STO and to rightfully include it I had one issue, why it was never seen. Without Beta Canon to support it, I created a story to explain away those issues. So infact, unlike a LOT of other fan designs, Ive honored it, by including it here, and showing it to a new generation of Trekkies! Not to mention I had to do an EXTENSIVE retexturing just to be able to use the model in a video in the first place! So there's that!
Second, as the documentation included states, so long as credit is given, I can use it, so you shouldnt worry about such things, as this channel is always respectful of such things!
542 meters, she’s 20 meters longer in length than the Ambassador-Class Enterprise-C and only 20 meters Shorter than the Constitution-III-Class Enterprise-G, it fits her Aesthetics! and i can see the design team of the Odyssey-Class in the late-2370s taking notes from or having the same design team members as this Ship.
The Deflector dish, while smaller, is similar; The Pylons on both designs utilize Impulse drive units, although the Odyssey has more of them; and the Nacelles have a similar design to them, although not identical having Dual Warp Grills instead of Dual Bussards on each nacelle. I wouldn’t be surprised if not only was the reactivated and refitted Discovery-Class USS Theseus NX-1987 used as a testbed for the Odyssey, but maybe a ship of the Century-Class was aswell, testing technologies that would someday make it into the frame of her Younger Bigger Sister.
She’s an awesome design, and i love this ship in a similar way that i love the Odyssey, you did am amazing job on her backstory! ^w^
Sounds like a upgraded Galaxy with better tech.
If it was smaller it would've been a good version of the Nova version for the sovereign.

Picard wanted most of his old enterpise d crew to be on board the century just did not had space to house 700+ officers and crew. Also starfleet was going into war with the domminion war picard needed a faster ship to be doing back water dilplomatic mission and back water bush fires. The second borg battle of sector 001 the enterpise proved to things 1 just how well sovergine class can fight. 2 just how fast at maxium warp the sorvergine class can travel. I know commander laforge i am sure that he was able to knock enterpise to more speed then speced warp speed. Romulan nutral zone to eath is a long way

That’s a sharp design. I’d rather have seen that ship as the Enterprise G than the Titan refit.

I would have far preferred this ship as the Enterprise F rather than tgat Odyssey design. This or the Legacy class.
I wonder how well DJ Curtis' designs could be worked into Trek lore as the Project Galaxy equivalent for the Odyssey. They seem to have quite a few parallels in their design language, especially the Century, Sun Tzu, and Vivace classes.
Im not exactly sure what you mean, as the Project Galaxy Lore really ends with the Galaxy itself being the top of that line...

Well, what you've created there is a slower, thiccer Vesta, with everything except the QSS drive.
I didnt create anything, all I did was provide a story for a fan design that makes sense!
Knowing that a ship with bioneural circuits can basically get sick(and whoever did not think about that possibility in universe)..can these things catch a common,not cheese related cold if you lower the internal temperature enough??^^

Canon doesn't work that way... Until it was made canon in Picard S3, there was NO Enterprise-F... And once it was, it made the Odyssey Class Enterprise-F ALWAYS the Enterprise-F... A fan design in a mod is not even Beta Canon!
