  • Do you want to control your iPad from your iPhone? In this video, I will show you how to do just that using the Apple Accessibility feature Control Nearby Devices. This feature allows you to access your iPad's Home Screen, App Switcher, Notification Center, and Control Center from your iPhone. Not only that, but you can also use Siri on the iPad and control media.

This feature can be incredibly useful for those who have difficulty accessing their iPad directly or for those who simply want the convenience of being able to use their iPhone to control their iPad. With Control Nearby Devices, you can do everything you need to do on your iPad without ever having to touch it.
So if you're interested in learning more about this feature and how to use it effectively, be sure to check out this video. I promise you won't be disappointed!

What’s the point of being able to toggle screens if you can’t select which screen you wanna switch to?! This function doesn’t add “control”.

I have an iPad mounted on the wall. It would good to be able to access my iPads camera remotely ( not via Bluetooth) is there any way of doing this?

    Oh wow thank you.
I’m old school I used my iPad a lot to play music on my stereo. And I hate having to get up to switch songs. Spotify you can control what you are listen to Thur the app anywhere but Apple Music you can’t. This has came in handy so much to turn the volume down and this and that. Thank you again

Thanks Dan! Best tutorial! Is it possible to remote control Apple Music on an Ipad from an iPhone? Not just play/ next but also to be able to search bands etc?

That’s what I want to be able to do. Hook my iPad up to a usb DAC connected to my stereo and control Apple Music remotely from my iPhone. Open Apple Music, search and select music and play etc. Doesn’t look like “control nearby devices “ can do that.

I have my iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPad 2 sitting next to one another, both logged into the same iCloud account and both with bluetooth on. When I tap "Control Nearby Devices" with my iPhone I just get "Searching..." with the spinning wheel listed under "Nearby Devices." Any thoughts?

“Control” is a little far. Yes you can do your media but other than “viewing” you cannot really control anything.

Yeah this is pointless. Cmon Apple. Just give us the ability to control our iPad from another device. I’m attempting to setup my iPad for my girlfriend who is sitting in a hospital bed and wants to watch content on the hospital tv. There is no airplay so I’m using a usb c hub, hdmi into the tv and bam she can watch whatever she wants. Downside is there is no Apple device that allows her to control the iPad from the bed. Switching to the Home Screen is great and all but she needs to actually be able to click on something. I’m going to try hooking up a Bluetooth keyboard with mouse and see if that works.

There is no “control” of the iPad in this tutorial. You’re just opening menus ok the iPad from the iPhone. You can’t control the iPad, or switch apps when you select that button. This tutorial did not tell us how to control the iPad in any relevant capacity. You didn’t even show us that any of those buttons do anything other than make menus pop up or go back to the Home Screen. 🤔

I think Play/Pause, Previous/Next, and Volume are very helpful. Granted, it would be nice to switch apps, you DO have a Siri button and can ask Siri to open what ever app you want.

This is completely useless, as you can't see or control anything.

Your iPad broken?! If you can't see anything on it, it might be. This isn't to fix a broken device, just allow simple controls, remotely.

Wait, so you say I can control my iPad from my iPhone? Surely you don’t mean I can control my iPad from my iPhone, do you? You should have just said I can control my iPad from my iPhone fifty thousand more times, Clicky McSEO. And don’t bother showing what all the icons actually do, that’s just what anyone who comes here wants to know after they realise “wow I can control my iPad from my iPhone”.
